I've been learning Vietnamese over the last 6 months (Duolingo and from people at work). I'm so amazed how much more I can understand in each of your videos when I see them. Really need to get to the country sometime. Everyone at work says the country is beautiful.

Thanks for the extra help. Still struggling with the northern vs southern accents at this time. Unsure whether I am saying words "correctly". Been having a laugh with people at work correcting me.
@@rmccabe916 Check out "Shot in the Dark" as they are are there now. They're not the typical budget travelers, if that's what you're after, but they look like they are having the best time. "Chase and Shelbs" are also putting out great videos. If you're there to motorbike across Vietnam, "Jammy Bits" is currently putting out videos, not sure if they will have time to do the Ha Giang Loop, but I'm guessing that's where they are headed.
Definitely come. I've been learning a while, and formal weekly lessons for about 6 months. Now that you've got a foundation, coming here, hearing and seeing it all around will really make a difference. Whichever dialect you focus on, you will find people that speak all sorts of ways, so don't stress about it too much.
@@rmccabe916 Just stick with one accent. I personally think the northern accent is the one to go as it's proper Vietnamese whereas southerners tend to speak in slang or say things incorrectly (qu sounds are all of a sudden w sounds, etc.). As long as you don't learn Hue accent, you're golden. No one understands Hue accent. LOL! BTW, other great vloggers I've seen are "Sammy and Tommy" (they even got a comment from Sonny from the "Best Ever Food Review Show", which is awesome since Sonny is the best food reviewer on youtube), "Benny and Meeka", and just saw a video from "2 Minute Films" about a mother daughter trip that was amazing!!! Her mother turned 59 on the trip and she did the 2 day caving adventure!
Phuc is always funny and charm as conversing Vietnamese with people around him. I like your insane joke about veggie roasted pork came from the pork that eats veggie. It really cracked me up when you spoke it in Vietnamese.

In the USA I am a “meat and potatoes”man. Here I eat much more fruit and vegetables. I have even eaten at a couple of vegetarian restaurants! Why someone would eat at western restaurants here bewilders me. Love the food and people!!!

Really glad you started looking at some of the beautiful vegetarian options. I’m tired of seeing Vietnamese bloggers just eat ridiculous amounts of meat. I eat meat also- but try doing some vids on where all the meat is sourced over there…

Never thought I’d be learning viet language and modern culture from a guy like Phuc Map.
I can speak the language well phonetically but my vocabulary is sorta limited. I was born in the US with few vietnamese friends that actually speak in viet. Most of my friends are of all nationalities. Makes me wanna visit VN again.

Ăn chay đa số là người từ đạo Phật Bắc Tông. Vì lòng từ bi và giới luật. Thức ăn chay không nên có ngũ vị tân (hành, tỏi, kiệu, bà rô, hẹ ) và đặt tên theo món mặn. Ví dụ: heo quay chay có thể đặt là bánh quay. Như vậy sẽ có nhiều thiện nam tín nữ ủng hộ.

Thường mấy quán buffet chay này họ bán giá rẻ, kiểu làm "từ thiện" giúp người thu nhập thấp chứ họ cũng không lãi bao nhiêu. Mình thấy nhiều quán lợi dụng bán món chay giá rất cao... đồ chay theo đạo Phật hay Thiên Chúa đều mang ý nghĩa thiện lành mà họ lại lợi dụng mà bán thu lãi cao!
Người ta ngu vẫn ăn buôn bán theo chủ nghĩa tư bản thôi chị nhé, 😂 ko ai mua coi nó bán được không 😂

You asked why roast pork in vegetarian food. Well there should be no pork in vegetarian food but there should be all kind of meat (fake meat) when you an chay. To me an chay mean eating fake meat.
