I did these at the gym for the first time today.
They are my favorite type of wrist curls. I had 5's on each end. I like doing them lying across the bench.

Ray, you can fix your problem with tension by doing these exercise against gravity, for instance on an incline bench.
On horisontal bench the power goes 90degree out of your forearm/wrist, so moving the bar above horisontal will make it not help, compared to on a angled surface.

I like everything said except for one thing. I won't let bar roll all the way down to my finger tips. I heard two different trainers say 2 different things regarding that. The one said if your training for growth, to get bigger forearms, dont roll the bar all the way down, because this is a forearm exercise, not a finger exersise. And the other trainer said dont let the bar roll all the way down to your fingertips, because its too much of a load on your tendons. I personally agree with both. Because you can use bands or a finger bruce lee style round finger catcher. But thats jusy my opinion.

is it true to say that half range of motion (or smaller) is better for the tendon as it doesn't stress them too much, because of the weight, but also making them stronger at the same time and also speeding up recovery?

So what kinds on poundages are you guys doing for wrist curls, in the 6 to 20 rep range ??? I used to do these on a little decline bench, thus tension on more of the time. I now do these one handed on cable curls, and reverse, and on a wrist roller mounted to the wall, I do these front first, and immediately reverse.

    • @waynerock999

@@owenmonaghan6280 Yes, I was being sarcastic. BUT, 100kg for 30 reps, I bet a lot of the very strong bodybuilders and strogman could do this. I bet Denis could. I heard, Casey Viator used to do 12 full reps with 240 pounds, but then again were they full. I got up to a good number for 30 full reps on a slight decline bench, think it was either 120 or 140 pounds. So 100kg is not that far off, when my forms are not even 13 inch, arm straight and not measured the way the Russians do with your forearm all bent, I think Denis forams measured my way would still be 17 inches over, they wrist curls he would be very good at, and if he can curl over 240 pounds.

Bodybuilding is the most useless sport...if you can even call it a "sport". Most of arm-wrestlers (except newbies) have grip strength of steel and in a fight if you catch the opponent's arm/arms and hold them...then he's screwed. I saw this from a police guy in a bodybuilding article, he said that for cops grip strength and forearms strength are the most important when trying to catch someone or immobilize him, that's how they deal with guys that are fighters. So no, arm-wrestling is not useless...please try to find me any other category of athletes that can even come close to arm-wrestlers in terms of forearm & grip strength.
