I've been watching lots of training videos and yours are the best ! Your a very knowledgeable guy! Thanks for the content and hope to see you on the table one day !! 💪💪💪
I did these at the gym for the first time today.
They are my favorite type of wrist curls. I had 5's on each end. I like doing them lying across the bench.
Just got into arm wrestling, thanks! Training videos 💪👍
Awesome. Be smart, take it slow and learn as much as you can. :)
I started doing this exercise and its my favorite forearm exercise now
Great video.
Ray, you can fix your problem with tension by doing these exercise against gravity, for instance on an incline bench.
On horisontal bench the power goes 90degree out of your forearm/wrist, so moving the bar above horisontal will make it not help, compared to on a angled surface.
Great video!
Thank you hopw it helps!
This exercise looks easy but it's extremely difficult to do even with light weights
Weak????
@@SamuraiYajirobe It was 4 years tho
@@RixonX weak???
@@SamuraiYajirobe ??
Thank you
wrist curls with fat gripz and with thumb is very hard. i can barely do a couple of reps with the weight which I normally do 14 reps with it using no thumb.
I add fat grip just for full range variations.
I like everything said except for one thing. I won't let bar roll all the way down to my finger tips. I heard two different trainers say 2 different things regarding that. The one said if your training for growth, to get bigger forearms, dont roll the bar all the way down, because this is a forearm exercise, not a finger exersise. And the other trainer said dont let the bar roll all the way down to your fingertips, because its too much of a load on your tendons. I personally agree with both. Because you can use bands or a finger bruce lee style round finger catcher. But thats jusy my opinion.
I like doing this with granadier grips. Feels really good.
EDIT: I forgot. I also put the bench on decline.
On full range or on partial curls?
@@voiceofarmwrestling I usaly do full on this one. Half reps I do on my 9.5cm dumbell and on machines(strap handles, multispinner etc)
Yes for full range love grenadiers as well. :)
Hi, is wrapping towel around the dumbells good for arm strength and forearm? Like towel dumbel hammer curls?
Not for biceps training but for wrist training yes.
Hi. Is the wrist or fingers more important fornarmwrestling?
Which is preferred for armwrestling training, this wrist curl variation, or the one on the outside of the bar (thick part that the plates go on)? I do the 2nd variation normally, but now I am unsure.
Both
Isn't using the Ez curl bar to do this not good aswell? I have seen khadizmurat zoloev doing this.
What about behind the back wrist curls?
Are wrist curls bad for your wrist joint? I heard they can put a lot of pressure on your cartillage and joints.
nah iv done them for years and never had issues.
What is an ideal break between workouts?
He said in a comment that you can train everyday, just use different exercises and different protocols.
Can i use dumbells instead?
Alternate pronation and suppination grip I suppose?
You mean overheand or underhand... or?

What is better barbells or dumbbells for wrist curl ?
No one is better, for this exercise I prefer barbell if I`m working with one or both arms.
💪👍
:)
I'll admit it. Any time I want to learn to get strong and tough, I first listen to someone with a Russian accent! LOL.
Will reverse wrist curl require elbows in as well?
No there is different technique. Will make a video this week.
@@voiceofarmwrestling Cool Thanks
Can i do that on cheat bar
Hey Ray,
is it true to say that half range of motion (or smaller) is better for the tendon as it doesn't stress them too much, because of the weight, but also making them stronger at the same time and also speeding up recovery?
I love to roll up with my fingers Frist then curl my wrist up
Love this exercise. They are easy to do but blast the fuck out of your forearms.
So what kinds on poundages are you guys doing for wrist curls, in the 6 to 20 rep range ??? I used to do these on a little decline bench, thus tension on more of the time. I now do these one handed on cable curls, and reverse, and on a wrist roller mounted to the wall, I do these front first, and immediately reverse.
Wayne
As I said I have seen guys doing 400 lbs/ 180 kg for reps, and have done 30+ reps with 225/100 kg for myself.
@@voiceofarmwrestling I am "not" talking about half wrist curls, or those table top curls where you just roll the weight, I am talking about wrist curls like you did. You can do 30 reps with 100/225kg ??? That's 220 to 495 pounds for 30 reps ??? Are you sure you wrote that right, if that much for 30 reps, I would love to see this ??? Got any videos of these guys ???
Wayne
@@waynerock999 obviously he means partial nobody in the world can full range 100 kg for 30 reps...
@@owenmonaghan6280 Yes, I was being sarcastic. BUT, 100kg for 30 reps, I bet a lot of the very strong bodybuilders and strogman could do this. I bet Denis could. I heard, Casey Viator used to do 12 full reps with 240 pounds, but then again were they full. I got up to a good number for 30 full reps on a slight decline bench, think it was either 120 or 140 pounds. So 100kg is not that far off, when my forms are not even 13 inch, arm straight and not measured the way the Russians do with your forearm all bent, I think Denis forams measured my way would still be 17 inches over, they wrist curls he would be very good at, and if he can curl over 240 pounds.
Wayne
my wrist hurts from this. even with no weights. im using a hook machine instead
Did you place your arms right?
@@voiceofarmwrestling yeah and i tried different angles but im triying today again. also what do you think about finger rolls?
Just do reverse curls
@@closegripbenchpress489 don't do it. Or regret later
Is easiest to do with one hand
More comfortable. Yes
Are you still doing carnivore bud? I think I can never go back to carbs!
He was carbing up or still is
Not 100%, but I`m doning something similar. Still eating meat but carbing up frequently to stay in the same weight. As soon as I get on 100% carinore I drop ton of weight fast. I will make video to explain what I`m doing and how it`s working for me.
not a lot but a little bit. :D
I can do this 5 times with 50kg
How would you rate my strength
Btw I'm 77kg
I think it is improvable. I'm 78kg and I did it 12reps with 70kg
Next: barbell flies
Sorry but what?
Lmao
Why my wrist hurts when i do this exercise ?
They are just not used to it. Lower weight slow movement.
Don't do it. Coach Ray is not a medical expert. You will regret later. Stick to dumbbell. Not everyone is comfortable with these exercises with barbell.
Arm wrestling is a pretty impractical and useless sport.A sport that cannot be translated into real life situations such as boxing martial art or powerlifting it is pretty much useless.
Yeah, muh sumo deadlifts and arched benchpress are so fucking useful and practical in every day life, I just ooze functionality, brah, for real. But for some combat sport experience I give you credit, living in gopnikstan and knowing how to bash someones brain Is pretty helpful.
Bodybuilding is the most useless sport...if you can even call it a "sport". Most of arm-wrestlers (except newbies) have grip strength of steel and in a fight if you catch the opponent's arm/arms and hold them...then he's screwed. I saw this from a police guy in a bodybuilding article, he said that for cops grip strength and forearms strength are the most important when trying to catch someone or immobilize him, that's how they deal with guys that are fighters. So no, arm-wrestling is not useless...please try to find me any other category of athletes that can even come close to arm-wrestlers in terms of forearm & grip strength.
Arm wrestlers have extreme grip strength which comes in handy when doing manual labor or wrenching
What an idiotic comment
