    The Supination before Pronation to slip the opponents fingers to attack the fingertips more is such good advice. I would've never thought about it but it makes so much sense.

    Nice explanation Janis. Would you make a segment on how to get back from someone using defensive top roll?

    • @brentlionakaboldchamp
      @brentlionakaboldchamp 6 лет назад +5

      stealthbusiness Just do the same thing when in a loosing position. Flare your arm slightly to your side, to go the the outside of your opponents power, and if you still cannot take him, simply flop your wrist, and keep pulling that way (but keep your shoulder behind your arm). Once you get back in position, hit him with the press, or finishing toproll.

      I use the lowhand toproll (defensive toproll) as my go to move pretty effectively and I've found the most trouble when someone gets me really high with a posting style toproll. If I'm not fast enough to adjust and climb up with my opponent, I can get into a bad position really quickly. Next time you slow pull with someone who goes straight to the lowhand move, climb like a madman up his hand and go way outside. Should work pretty well.

    • @rileyneufeld7001
      @rileyneufeld7001 5 лет назад +6

      @@CaseyAQuarles Yes a low toproll will not work well against a high toproll. Since they have the higher hand and can keep their radial deviation they can engage their forearms better. With a strap it is not as important however as you can still drag your opponent to your side. Strong fingers will allow you to drag as hard as you can to the back of your pad, while preventing the high toprollers from opening your upper fingers.

    A friend from gym and myself have just taken up arm wrestling. We are doing table time once a week and then gym stuff. He has an incredible hook from the start that I just can't seem to catch, but I have really good endurance if I can get some defensive top roll going. Any advice on what my first move should be from the start to catch a strong hook hit. Otherwise I am going to have to destroy my elbow trying to work it out myself

      The lowhand (defensive toproll) is GREAT in the straps but the game does change a little bit. Outside the strap, you'll find more success if you set up a little farther back on the pad and you get lined up with your opponents elbow instead of the usual perpendicular lineup. In the straps, the lowhand toproll almost turns into less a defensive move and more an offensive move. So when I use my lowhand outside the strap, I'm playing defense, and on the go, I'll try to take hand control BEFORE I hit hard to the side. However, inside the strap, i hit as fast as possible with my hand as high and elbow as far up as I can get it. The lowhand is an awesome move. Someone at a practice a while back showed me some key points that really explained it more and I haven't looked back since.

      Strengthen your wrist, fingers and hand, thats where the whole movement begins, without it you wont be able to fully access strength of your biceps and back etc. if you want to be good at AW, focus on your hands and wrist first.

    • @brentlionakaboldchamp
      @brentlionakaboldchamp 6 лет назад

      Bobby Sweeney Go for the hook. Keep the match inside. Keep your grip moderately high, and make sure there is space between the beginning of your pinky knuckle, and ther other guys hand, so that his hand has to cover that distance before he toprolls you.

    • @pass_e
      @pass_e 8 месяцев назад

      In my opinion, get a stronger rise, pronator, and cup. Rising will make your opponent hold on to you, making it harder for the opponent to take your wrist, unless he is stronger than you. Rising should be the first priority, cupping second, and pronation third. They are all important nonetheless.
