3 weeks since Covid now, first week was bad. Second was better, third week started to ride to work and now I’m feeling normal.

I wouldn't wish covid on anyone regardless of severity or duration. Sorry you're going through this Peter. It took me 9 months to get over my first Covid, i cut my volume and intensity by half and rode it all the back to a full recovery and peak fitness. After a couple of weeks i realised not training was ruining my wellbeing. I found tracking my HRV, SPo2, RHR, limiting low intensity to 70% HR MAX and slowly reintroducing small bursts helped me a lot. . It's quite nice to have a week off from training and let the body catch up but i understand 2 weeks off leaves me feeling restless.

I just had it a few weeks ago after being good for 2 years. I get the tiredness sometimes and a few other things. Its getting better and I'm getting back into the groove.

I’de been doing so well but caught Covid a week ago, now coming out of it .. no crazy symptoms but feeling tired still. Hoping to slowly get back in the groove starting this week for a 5150 next month… fingers crossed there’s not too much loss or damage. Stay safe you all!

You answered my question on being sick and then recovery. I'm stressing as well. Race in 5 weeks and I lost two weeks of training. I will reestablish my expectations on the race and just have fun. I'm not a pro anyway.

“Don’t worry they grow back!” 😂 I feel better already! Thanks James! 😂 🤣
If loosing toe nails isn’t a result of malnutrition, or over training, then consider me satisfied with your answer!

For a month I had 20/30 heart rate higher than before with the same power output in cycling and running…has been a nightmare…to recover I did zone 3 training at elevation 1300mt

#gtncoachescorner, I have a question about building swim speed. I'm a good runner and cyclist but I lose my races in the water... when building speed in swimming is the same type of approach as with running effective? So build base, them once a base level is built introduce more interval work or is building a base less important in swimming? Also for half and iron distance what would be a good base level to get to before bringing more focus on intervals?

I had covid, and it was 2 months before I could train again. I am 63 years old, and I am still not back to a 100% almost 5 months later.

#gtncoachescorner I’ve recently purchased my first triathlon bike after training and racing on a road bike for a while. I am going to get a bike fit once it arrives and would love to know some strategies/best practices for getting used to riding on it. Is using it on an indoor trainer initially helpful to get used to the position or is it better to ride it outside straightaway so that I can also work on bike handling skills? Is there anything else I can do outside of my cycle sessions to help? I already incorporate strength training and stretching into my weekly routine.

I got covid this week.. Less than three weeks before IRONMAN BOLTON.. Today I'm feeling slightly better but still coughing a lot. Do you think it would be wise to race at Bolton on July 3rd? Even if I'm feeling good again? I'm going to try and do some short runs next week to see how my fitness is but I'm worried that I'm going to have to cancel Ironman Bolton this year :(

Hello friends! Going for my first triathlon @ IronMan Austria on July 3rd (yep, never done any, going straight for long distance!). My question is regarding the run. I've been slowly ramping up distance for almost 2 years. Now I can do a 34K session once a week, but I end up absolutely destroyed. My legs are fatigued for 4 days. It hinders my next run, my biking and gym strength training. My legs are always fatigued and I can't seem to recover in time to do smaller runs and at the same time keep the long runs coming. There isn't enough recovery time in a week. How can I do a long run a week and a few short ones also with a long bike and a few short ones if my only long run makes my legs useless for 4 days?

James: for an Ironman you're out there for 4.5 hours on a bike
All us normal folks: ...only 4.5hrs? Maybe you meant a half 😆

It's individual and should be addressed to medics, not to your personal coach.
