Omg this video was much needed! I’ve been breastfeeding for 3 months and came across 1 green poop diaper and I freaked out. Thank you so much for this video. So helpful.
Thanks for the info! My wife was worried because his stool was just a tiny bit green, sounds like it's fine. Is that a Douglas Fir outside your window? Are you in the PNW?
Ok my baby didn’t gain any weight the first month. And the doctor said he probably wasn’t getting any hindmilk. So she had me supplement with formula. But he seems fine!
Thank you for this info!!! I have a 1 month old and I believe I have a forceful letdown. When my baby was 1-2 weeks she had yellow stool but now it’s a yellow with a little green. I’ve been block feeding her every 3-4hrs. Any advice? Thanks!

Great video. My partner and I have a newborn and we we’re starting to get pretty paranoid about this. Sounds like the variations that we have seen are minor
THANK YOU SO MUCH I LITERALLY CRIED WHEN MY HUSBAND NOTICED MY MILK WAS WATERD DOWN AT FIRST I WAS EXCITED I EVEN PUMPED 40ml FOR THE FIRST TIME THEN I INSTANTLY GOT CONCERNED THE LACTATION COACH NEVER TALKED TO ME ABOUT DIFFERENT MILKS COMING OUT SO I GOOGLED IT AND WAS EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED AS IT SAID TO PUMP OFF THE EXTRA MILK I COULDNT EVEN IMAGINE WORKING SO HARD JUST TO THROW AWAY MY SUPPLIES!! THEN IT TALKED ABOUT BABY HAVING G.I ISSUES OR BECOMING SO FUSSY & FILLED WITH GAS AT THAT POINT IF MY BABY SO MUCH AS CRIED FOR A SEC I THOUGHT MY MILK WAS HARMING HER MORE THAN HELPING AND CONSIDERED JUST GIVING SIMILAC I WENTTO BED SO DEPRESSED AND READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL THIS VIDEO REALLY HELPED ME SPECIALLY CAUSE MY BABY WAS BORN AT 38 WEEKS COMPARED TO A FULL 40 WEEKS & THIS IS MY 3rd CHILD. SO THANK YOU FOR HELPING SOME OF US NEW PUMPING MOMS 🙏🏽🙌🏽♥️ P.S CAN YOU MIX ALL YOUR MILK THROUGH A DAY OF PUMPING TO MAKE SURE IT IS EVENLY DISTRIBUTED??
Constipation is almost unheard of in an exclusively Breastmilk-fed baby. Constipation also would not be from a foremilk-hindmilk imbalance. You must have been dealing with a separate issue. Constipation in a baby - we see hard, dry balled up poo … not soft, pasty, runny or watery.
My bb poops with nearly every feed but not enough pees in 24 hours. What's going on? She's 6 weeks. Born 36 weeks. In your videos I hear poops discussed but not pees.
Very precise, easy to understand, and very great advice that actually makes a whole lot of sense. Thank you so much for making this video. 💗🙏🏼 I will be sharing it.
Thank you so much for the information! Currently exclusively breast-feeding my 5month old (second baby) and ped is telling me she isnt gaining enough weight. But i nurse her around the clock every 3 hours and she seems satisfied when she is done on the breast. Ped worried me she wasn't getting enough hindmilk. Thank you so much! you made me feel better about continuing to exclusively nurse.
My baby is 10 days old and has only gained 1oz in a week. I am only breastfeeding. He does pee and poop at every feeding and it is yellow and seedy. I am just worried about the very little weight gain. With the formula shortage I have been determined to breastfeed. This is my 3rd child. Both my other kids were switched to formula because of little weight gain in the beginning.
Hello Summer! So I am on the bandwagon of breast feeding mothers. I have some questions and thought I’d be able to ask you, as you are a certified Lactation consultant. I want to build a stash but have more than enough for my baby in my breasts... so I breast fed my daughter for 6 months but she had issues gaining weight. Was always skinny and she was a very lazy eater. Now she is 3 years old. I’m pregnant right now but want to be a pro at breast feeding as my new child will be here in the next couple weeks. I’m worried that the fatty milk, aka hind-milk, I won’t make enough of or my new LO (little one) won’t get enough of. I also want to be able to have a good stash in the freezer just in case I want to work again. I know you stated the first 2-3 weeks are crucial and it’s like building a house. With that being said can you not increase milk supply after that period? I don’t know a schedule or routine to go by. I’m just super lost and it’s discouraging to be honest. But I really want to be successful at feeding my baby. Please help...
Hi Danella! I hear that you felt a little defeated with your daughter. You made it 6 months!!! And just so you feel better, not all babies are big and fat and gain weight fast. My first was a slower gainer, and skinny, and gained weight at his own pace. Luckily I had a Pet that was supportive, and explained to me that as long as he wasn't losing weight, and gaining anything, and meeting his developmental milestones...he was doing PERFECT! I wasn't there for your situation, so its hard for me to know, but I'd say for now it is a good place for your head and heart to be. :) Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm glad you hear you watched my House of Milk Vlog! Hind-milk and Fore-milk are largely misunderstood. A baby is supposed to get both, and only they know. I have a vlog on that too. Have you seen it? Good News for you on many accounts: all of which I have vlogs on (I'll see if I can tag you). A mother naturally makes more milk with each child, and yes, in order to build a stash for returning to work, we would place 1 extra pump into your day every day during your maternity leave. This would be in addition to your baby nursing any time they want. And you would store all of that pumped milk. You WILL be successful! Focus on the early weeks, and you will be GOLDEN! :)

Hi Summer, So I’m exclusively pumping as my baby chokes as she latches onto the nipple. I’ve tried on many occasions and it always happen. I’ve noticed that she is hungry almost every hour when she is awake. She is 3 months. I’m only doing 2 pumps a day as I’m only pumping enough of what she needs which is about 30oz a day. My Pet said since I wait too long I become engorged and have a lot of milk but it’s watery. This may also cause my baby to be hungry every hour. Have you seen this before? What should I do? This has been on my mind daily since seeing her Pet a month ago. Please HELP!!!!
Hi I have a question so I noticed that my milk was more watery than other milk in the day so I started to mix all the milk pumped that day in a big container and mixed it with a whisk then separated them into individual containers I found this really helped is this something you think is ok
@@jscott9655 It worked for me my son now gets equal hindmilk and foremilk he was so fussy before I started doing this and I can tell it messes with him if I miss a day and don't mix the milk together I was just wondering what Summer's thoughts were on this and also to see if this helps other mom's
@@jscott9655 I mix whatever I have at the end of the day but if I have like a few containers from the day before that weren't mixed I mix them with what I have I try to have them all at the same temperature but if I have more cold milk than warm I just mix it which I know is ok because Summer stated that in a different video
