Why Cerebral Narcissist Becomes Somatic (Aging, Death)

  • Cerebral narcissism is a relatively stable construct across the lifespan. It involves early life sublimation so massive and all-pervasive that it renders the cerebral asexual, all but eradicating his sex drive (arrested sexual development).
Sensing his abnormality, potential sex partners shun the often creepy and robotic cerebral. In return, he conjures up a defensive ideology: celibacy is evidence of superior strength and women are contemptible.
Cerebrals become somatic following a collapse: when they can no longer garner supply by placing their intellect on public display or when offered opportunities to obtain quick fixes of narcissistic supply via sex.
As somatics, erstwhile cerebrals resemble sex addicts: from zero to hero.
But there is another reason for such s startling transformation: age and looming death.
The cerebral narcissist attempts to deny his age and fend off his ineluctable demise by having sex, preferably with much younger partners.
The cerebral being a narcissist, the sex is compulsive and autoerotic (masturbatory). The partners are mostly fungible and forgettable except when they are mentally ill (borderlines, for example) and cater to the narcissist’s grandiosity as a “healer” or “fixer”.
The shared fantasies then offered to these partners often incorporate a fresh start typical of younger ages: relocation, marriage, children, incessant travel, or a long-term relationship.
The cerebral turned somatic frantically thrashes about, trying to make up for lost time and missed sexual and romantic opportunities.
But as he inexorably declines, it becomes harder and harder to maintain the delusional self-deception and the cerebral ends up, often alone, in a degenerative schizoid state.

WOW- you just described what happened to my 38 year marriage. He (66) left for a somatic narc (64)-not younger than me, but it let him explore his somatic behavior. 3 years later, he has gone back to work. Changing back to Cerebral? I have gone gray rock. But this does explain a lot for me.

I highly recommend the movie AI: Artificial Intelligence. It is a film about a boy-shaped robot named David, played by the incredible child actor Haley Joel Osment, who is created and programmed to love his mother unconditionally. The mother rejects and abandons David in favor of their "real" son, Martin who is biological. I believe that at the core of the film is a story about the inner experience of a narcissist.

My 50 year old boss is extremely narcissistic and used to hang out with 30 year olds and pretend to be the same age, I went to a club with her once and she used this scenario to cheat on her husband with a younger guy.. I left within 45 mins of arriving; it was gross

Cheerfull video indeed… but so recognisable. Spot on in explaining what I am going through. My ex partner, as a cerebral Narcissistic, has changed exactly as described. And is now living whith his 15 years younger partner, and her kids, having lots of sex and love (soulmates). And is currenty starting a total new live with her. Leaving a marriage of 25 years, within one week, after faling in love with the new supply. Thanks for explaining so clearly!

How can one watch this video and not feel sorry for a Narcissist. It’s not even in their control and neither is there a cure. And he has to live like this because of a Dead Mother. It’s too sad

I’m a lesbian. My ex was a neglectful narcissist who carried our first child. She was home with her the first 6 months while I worked. My daughter never bonded. Always detached her whole childhood. She’s 16 now and shows very strong traits of narcissism. I know she is. We know her biological father. I think he’s communal narcissisti. Def gotta be some genetic link in this too.
I always thought my ex was asexual. She liked receiving but never initiated. Very weird. I think she’d be fine if she never had sex again.
