Tens of models from multiple car manufacturers, do battle annually to gain the consumer's attention; only a few will rein supreme. Others will merely fade in obscurity or just barely scathe by until their ultimate demise. Fortunately, certain car models have withstood the test of time and battled a plethora of rivals throughout the decades. I think you forgot Koenigsegg vs. Bugatti. They initially rivaled after Bugatti beat the CCR’s top speed record in late 2005, then Koenigsegg went to be the fastest around the Top Gear track (after the Stig crashed it) for a while, then in 2007 the CCXR with 1,018 hp beat Bugatti’s 1,001 hp with only 8 cylinders and 2 superchargers. Things weren’t too severe until late 2017 where Koenigsegg beat the Chiron’s 0-248-0 time in not their best model or surface of 36.44 seconds compared to Bugatti’s 41.96 set a month earlier, then beating the 7-year-long 268 mph Bugatti record up to 278 mph a month after.

Fun fact: The founder of Lamborghini owned a Ferrari (ikr, weird way of saying one company owned another lmao) before founding his supercar company and had a bad experience with them as it was unreliable. If the Ferrari Enzo didn’t insult Lamborghini the way it did there would be no mid-engined vehicle on our road. Lamborghini made the first mid-engined vehicle ever in the form of the Miura.
Formula 1 cars have been mid-engined since the Lotus 25 from 1962. The Miura came out in 1966, so it was one of those things that were going to happen either way, like the first airplane.

The Fiesta Guy I was about to mention that. There are some good Audi RS models that can easily do battle with some of the M and AMG models out there. I will admit though, there aren’t as many performance models from the 4-ring stable, which is a shame because I personally prefer Audi over BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

As a fan of Japanese street racing, I have to mention the AE86 and AE85 vs the Honda Civic EK9 and EG6. Most FR drivers can at least respect other racers, but finding an 86 lover like myself who has any respect for FF drivers is like finding a needle in a haystack. That's the big difference between this rivalry and ones like the Camaro/Mustang rivalry. The Camaro and Mustang are like brothers, each trying to outdo the other, but both still loving and respecting each other. AE86's and Civics hate each other

For most of it's history, Skylines were built on rather pedestrian sedans and coupes with hopped up engines. Not even close to being in the same league as sportscars like the Supra, Fairlady Z and RX7.
