I've been on Prime for ages. Not once have I used their storage but I'll probably start to soon. I just shudder at the thought of how long it'll take to upload the photos lol
I just have mine set to automatically upload the folders I keep my images in. It does it in the background. If you have a boat load to upload (which I'm pretty sure you will) then yeah it will take a while.
@@LeeIveson Maybe it's my PTSD from when I did 50,000 images or so a number of years ago when I had a lower internet bandwidth. It took a week and a bit to transfer to Google photos lol.
@@LeeIveson yep! I deliver client images using it too because aslong as I have an Amazon Prime account, they can access the photos. Much better than Dropbox and Wetransfer etc.
That is just some additional option but certainly nothing to rely on. Some indian IT guy clicks wrong button and all your photos are gone in a second. Also you have no control about the content and somebody can use it. Maybe useful for quick searching or sharing, but thats about it. And if your internet connection dies, again you have no access. All similar clouds should be only used as secondary/additional storage. Rather have data copied on couple of HDDs outside the PC and if possible spread to different locations to prevent for example fire or floods or robbers in one location destroying all your data.
Hi Lee, you put out great content and it shows on how much effort it takes to make the kind of videos you make. You deserve all the support we, your viewers, can give you mate. I think there is a place for cloud storage and, for me, I found that is in the form of medium resolution JPG files of the pictures I want to have access to at any time and anywhere in the world(providing we have internet access, which in most places should not be a problem most of the time). I find it hard to 'carry' a full gallery of my best pictures with me. Pictures that I may want to show or share at a moment's notice. A cloud storage such as this one offered by Amazon, could come in handy. For the long term, and for the bulk of my photography work, high quality RAW, TIFF and full resolution JPG are stored in Hard Drives(several of them, backing up each other, and in different physical locations for safety and security). Thank you for your videos! Cheers, Ray.
Thanks Ray I appreciate that mate. I also back up my photos onto HDD drives and as a final fail safe I use Amazon Photos. The more backups the better to be fair haha
I use SSD drives throughout the year & have ongoing backup to Amazon photos. Then at the end of the year I dump everything onto a HDD drive & label it with the year. Works for me at the moment, I might end up going the raid route in the future.
@@LeeIveson I've been keeping this a secret for years now 😂 hoping they don't stop it at any point and start to charge for it. Such a great freebie especially if you have a fast internet connection like myself!

Thanks!!
I have many, many TB worth of raw and edited images uploaded on Amazon photos. I discovered it during lockdown and backed everything up then!
That's exactly how I use it, perfect as a backup of everything 👌

SSD > Cloud > HDD 🤟
@@LeeIveson rather SSD > HDD1+HDD2 (+HDD3) ;)

Excellent suggestion, I just had to buy a new SSD as storage.

SSD is not storage medium, rather fast system drive.
