Oh, to have uniform sized photos, I love that you can use this storage system. Thanks for sharing. One thing I can suggest is to label the back with a 6B pencil with the 5 W's. Who, What, When, Where, Why/How. Scan them in as well.
My Jewish Mommy Life Definitely! According to our google photos album we're about 1,000 pictures in already, so making her first year photo album is going to require some serious editing 😂
Love this idea. I have totes full of photos, have put off organizing as I was not sure if the best way to go about it. I had them sort of organized when my kids were small but over the years they became unorganized. Thank you!
I love videos like this! This such a great system. I’ve been trying digital scrapbooking and I’m getting to the point where I feel like I need a photo system where I’m just slipping in pictures. I love the black albums you have for that!
Totally!! I feel like just printing 4x6s is so much less work than having to design an album each time. Especially for an annual one where there are just so many photos!
Your blouse is beautiful. Most of the photo albums available nowadays are dreadful. They try to do everything for you, like set aside sections that may not apply to your family life at all. It is much nicer for me to have simple, old-fashioned photo albums that I get to organize. I am excited to see how you handle it. I use an old-fashioned label maker for things in my pantry still. I love the photo albums you have because people will grab them from under a coffee table and enjoy them, whereas they are truly less likely to go into your computer to take a look. It is a major truth that the kids will probably not care about the books much, but you will and their grandparents will and their teen years' dates will and their children will when they discover that they can torture their dads with their old photos. So the photos will get visited. This was useful and I do like some of the albums you showed, so am looking up the links now.
I'm watching. I love all your videos, thank you, Marion. I have needed photo organizing tips for.ages. l am not a new mom like you, I could be your .mother. but I have so many digital and actual photos I want to arrange beautifully! I hope you and your lovely family are well!
Its a good idea to scrap book. I've been in a whirlwind in my life so I don't take too many photos. Develop memories by writing them down. Little visits to a great uncle in the nursing home (blind and deaf) would be a great memory to write down....as someone who can't see faces but recognize other things in close family. Of course the sad events would be stuck in ones mind (car accident of loved one, major health problem in a loved one etc)....as well as the happy memories (birth of sibling, visit from long time friend etc) These child-hood photos could bring back other memories for sure. Laura Ingalls Wilder style "written memories" could last many generations ;)
Love that idea! I’d love to add in some notes next to the photos as I just assume I’ll always remember what was captured but of course everyone forgets the details!
I use these photo boxes in my classroom to organize. You can also find them at Michaels and they go on sale for around $10 - $12 several times throughout the year!
I really enjoyed watching these photo organization tips. I am quite sure that with you saving these great photos you are able to keep a lot memories as you look back on them. Thank you so much for posting this excellent video!
I love this video! I used to be an avid scrapbooker...many years ago. I’m STILL trying to finish my 20 month olds first year album on Shutterfly lol. Need to get on it before #2 🤦🏼♀️ Love your simple white albums for the year!
Lol I feel ya! I used to be the same but find I just don't do it if it's too time consuming so I switched to this album method and I'd rather just have it done than perfect I'm sure you can relate!
Love all of this! I have so many photos both printed from childhood and stored in my phone that just sit in a box or never get printed. This is great motivation to get all that together, especially with a now 14mo old, I should really start filling in that baby book!
Wish I had found this video sooner. I searched for years trying to figure out the best way to organize photos. I love printed photos but don’t like regular photo albums. I finally gave in and started making photo books through Shutterfly, they’re great but I love these books even better. I do want mine all to match so I’ll probably keep making the photo books, but might use these books when I get to older photos… Currently organizing 41 years worth of photos…
I bought the plastic storage box but found that if each compartment wasn’t full that they would flip around and warp so I bought some acid free paper and cut them up into A5 sizes and wrapped them around the photo sections per packet ie 50 photos printed from online photo processing company . I’m using free prints etc then I reused polystyrene from fridge packaging and cut them up into 5x7 pads and taped them around edges with thin masking tape , and pad them out on both sides to keep them straight ,seems like a lot of work but it was worth it , as I get more photos I can reorganise them and label . Work in progress . Just a tip I found .
I really enjoyed this. My photos are out of control and I wanted to do a photo book each month but it takes soooo long! I love the idea of going old fashioned and getting some printed - I’m going to do it each month. Paper chase is such a lovely shop if you like stationary! xx
Hi, loved it! Did you keep some in the ambum for an specific reason? The plastic one don't take much space as the albums. I was just curious if you decided to keep some in the album rather than the plastic containers, for a specific reason. Thanks!
My husband has always thought of printing out the thousands of our family photos, especially our boys’. I thought it’s just gonna occupy too much space with all the photo albums. But I’m happy to watch this video because now I know there’s this option! Thank you for sharing! Gonna show this episode to my hubby!
You're so welcome! I print them out with the intent to put the best ones in the albums but of course there's always extras so I love the boxes for that!
Date I say I have purchased 20 of those boxes from Amazon🤦🏼♀️😬they do look amazing though & store everything in a nice order. I have albums for family holidays & special occasions but mainly store in the boxes in date order. I have still to finish my organising but am enjoying it x
Thank you so much for you helpful ideas and your smile. I am looking at big plastic totes full of photos that need to be sorted. It's a mess- I don't have any of them dated and need to figure out what year they were taken. My mother passed away and all photos are all over the place. Trying to sort. If you have any suggestions because it needs to be done and wondering how do you sort the pictures on the computer. Do you use any program and how do you go about doing it. My life is crazy busy and thinking a few hours a week I should get done sooner. I'm older and I need to get these photos done so that I can sort and remember before I get older and forget. How would you tackle a big project of 2 generations of photos that are so unorganized??? Thank you for you for being a blessings.
Probably no one will watch at almost 70,000 views. Very nice... thank you for the help. I just wish you would have shown how you did the label. I am confused as to how to do that. Also, not sure how to find the dates on my pictures. They are all mixed up and don't know the dates. I have a huge project in front of me.
As pretty and as organised as your photos are, I have an issue with those photo albums with the sticky sheets that go over the photos. You're not addressing how the acidity in the glue or the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic is going to affect your photos in years to come in terms of deterioration and discolouration. I suggest researching the affects of PVC plastic and glues on photo film paper. With regard to those lovely photo boxes from Amazon, again best to ensure they're that any plastic used to store photos is either polyester (mylar), polypropylene or polyethylene. I would also suggest you use cotton gloves when handling your photos to avoid transference of the oils from your skin to the photo paper.
We are all here watching because WE too want to organize our photos! Thank you!
This is the first video I have ever watched of yours, and I guess you are my type of person🥰

I love photos!! Thank you Sara
My photos are outta control and I need some advice.
.lol..sooo glad you made this.
We can help! What photo questions do you have in particular?
Confession.....not quite done with my 27 yo's baby book. Great ideas. I am ordering the photo books for sure.
Lol there's no time like now to do it!
Love those slip in albums
Just the video I needed-thank you.
This was just the inspo I needed to get going on printing photos and making albums :)
Lol well you have a good excuse but there's only more adorable photos to come I'm sure!

I’ve been wanting to do this!!! Just haven’t done it yet ❤️
It's seriously the best feeling to have it done lol!

Great video! I’m wondering what cloud or external drive you prefer to store your digital photos on? I’d like all mine in one place.
What do you do for 5x7 and 8x10 photos?
I am your people too 😊
Yesssss!! Glad to hear it!
May I ask what printer are you using

Could you please link your label maker? It’s so pretty compared to normal labels ❤️
Yes! Sorry about that: amzn.to/3fLfNy8
What if you have photos that are different sizes?
