    Pretty slick! You are an artist, how in the heck do you make all that hammering sound like banjo music?
    All kidding aside the Aluminum tank I got from you 5 or 6 years ago is still flawless. Thanks!

    What Kind of Aluminum and thickness do you use ?

      Really hard to find 1100 pure aluminum. You either have to get it in zero hardness or anneal it soft. Subscribe and I’ll have an upcoming video showing a hack that few folks know...it goes by these thicknesses 1/16” or .064 or 16ga.

      @@legendarydave333 So we'd need an expensive 3D printer to duplicate what you're doing? Would a hand made MDF form work OK?

    How much time do you spend in the hammering of one tank side? It seems like 2 hours roughly? Also, how often can you use the 3D printed mold? And what kind of Aluminium could be used? Only soft pure Aluminium or could 4083 work for example?

    • @legendarydave333
      @legendarydave333  Год назад

      I stick to what I know. I use pure 1100 or 3003. I guess anything that u can anneal to “0” hardness.

    Rather than messing about with hammers, why not rubber pad form the tank parts?

    • @legendarydave333
      @legendarydave333  Год назад

      If you had a decent size four post press you could do exactly that.

      @@legendarydave333 Is that your production method? The female tool method seems very time-consuming?

    • @legendarydave333
      @legendarydave333  Год назад

      @@humourless682 yes. There is no quick easy way to do this without industrial presses. Even using rubber over a male tool the aluminum will wrinkle.
      A platten press uses a thick sheet to “pin” the metal flat around the edges which guides the metal over the edge as the press pushes or “draws” the sheet into the female or male tool. It keeps the metal from wrinkling. This is how deep draws are accomplished.
      If you’re turning out hundreds of these at a time, that’s how to do it.
      If doing a “one off” I’ve found this to be efficient.

      @@legendarydave333 Mate of mine has been pressing tanks for 30 years. Just curious as to the reasoning behind 3D printed tooling? For a few pressings even plywood tools work fine and are very easy to make. Things like exhausts are simple to make using broaching, or male/female GRP tools. Your tanks look very good, but lots seem to now get sucked in by the very low prices of Indian and far east tanks ?
