    Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

    Serious question. Why do all Americans seem to run tractors with the hand throttle flat out when the tractor has a gearbox . more gears less revs?

    • @lukas25696
      @lukas25696 8 месяцев назад

      I am thinking about the same for so long now and i cant find an answer to that. It seems like its a murica thing without a deeper reason behind it. Too much money earned in their operations so that the fuel doenst really matter maybe?

    • @delbutler885

      Until AGCO came out with tractors with the low rev MAN engine the torque band on tractors was on the higher end

    • @ke6gwf
      @ke6gwf 8 месяцев назад +2

      That's because they are generally running at the maximum speed for the amount of load on the tractor.
      So whether they are tilling or planting or combining, the tractor is under a very heavy load, and generally the speed of travel is limited by the engine horsepower.
      So if they shifted to a higher gear, it would bog the engine down, and if they slow the engine down, then they just slow down, which defeats the purpose of buying a giant tractor.

    • @ke6gwf
      @ke6gwf 8 месяцев назад

      @@lukas25696it's run at the ideal rpm in the power range to get the maximum travel speed for the load on the tractor.
      If you shifted to a higher gear, you would lug the engine down, just like driving a truck in the mountains you run in the highest gear you can based on how steep the hill is.
      And once you get in the correct gear for the load and the engine power, then if you run the engine at a slower speed, you go slower, and they buy giant tractors to be able to cover giant fields before the weather changes, so slowing down is counterproductive.
      Also, there is a sweet spot for efficiency, which is work done vs fuel burned, and they try to run in that range, and that is shown on the display.
      Now if they are combining in some super light crop, it may not be taking much power, and then they run the engine slower, but generally they will use a tractor that is matched to the job, which means running the engine in the power band, because if you go to a larger engine so you can idle it, you are not running efficiently and wasted a lot of money on buying a bigger engine.

    • @lukas25696
      @lukas25696 8 месяцев назад

      @@ke6gwf but i think thats not the real question. I mean us europeans run similar machinery just a bit smaller. But on the endrows or when the tractor is standing we idle down to min revs. And all american youtubers i watched idle up the engine even tho there is no real load on it. For example turning in the yard and so on.

    Mr. Johnson I’m a retired Air Force + farm hand. I live in Terre Haute Indiana, but I farmed in Clark and coles counties in Illinois. Last late summer or early fall Clark had a couple accidents in grain bins at a elevator and had to go to a neighbor county for the equipment for inside the bin. The fire department in clark county went to the county board to buy the equipment and was told they didn’t have the money to buy it. I was wondering if you can give me the number that they can call to that organization you are with that can help them buy this equipment.

    From what we saw today I am fairly impressed with the machine. You were doing ten miles an hour and that can cover a lot of ground. Seems to be well constructed.

    You are welcome to eat/drink that AG1 synthetic food. Next it will be powdered bugs if its not in there already. We need proper food to chew , swallow and digest as God intended!!

    Honestly, it felt like an ad. Worse, humor felt forced, cringy, and surprisingly off-color for a channel that we know a lot of children watch.

    Zach will this striping take away from Deep plowing? If so will the Soil below your Striping become compact and cause roots stay sallow? Also will not let Rain get into the Tile faster? Just asking
