While iwas laughing at him tryna get it attached. That was like half an hour last Saturday for me 😅 i aint even a farmer, im a mechanic, was 3 degrees and just didnt have enough ass to pull and push at the same time 😅😂 why not make it so the ring that releases the lock to be pushed instead of having to push and pull and fight yourself. Just grab the release ring and push..."but what about getting it off" make it release in both directions and defaults to lock position.
I'm always impressed at the lack of swearing when you're struggling to accomplish a task. It's amazing you ever get anything done. I can't get f@(!ing s#/t done without cursing like a pirate.
Church clothes and Sunday dinner with wine..😉😎{I understand, I am Licensed IL Administrator (nursing home) and Pastor-- SAGU -Arkansas in Roscoe, Illinois [Rockford, IL]}
I had 3 cortisone shots in my left shoulder thirty years ago , I couldn’t pickup a phone unless my elbow was against my side, I was a water well driller for 25 years, a good friend kept telling me about his dad, same problem, cured with a copper bracelet, I didn’t believe it, he finally brought ma a COPPER bracelet, told me to just wear it for 2 weeks, if doesn’t help, throw away. I have wore one ever since. Still not much strength over head, but quit hurting, got strength back, God Bless
You just made me feel better, I always hate and struggle with those stupid PTOs, once it finally clicks in, feels like you won something, and huge relief!
Afternoon Zach. My name's Michael and for the longest time I've been interested in agriculture and specifically farm equipment. Your channel has given plenty of enjoyment and exposure to many aspects of agriculture many people aren't aware of. Most of all I wanted to thank you for inspiring me and would like to report I'm now an intern at my local John Deere dealer (Everglades equipment, you've been here before). It's been an amazing experience and I'd like to thank you again for feeding that fire in me. God bless, stay between the rows.
@smudge6001 I don't know that dealership but anything with everglades in the name can only mean one place. Good luck on your new career choice. It's needed in FL
You know whats worse then that cold? Getting that cold and a bunch of snow then warming up and getting rain, then getting really cold and snow again, then more rain. This winters been a joke in the northeast
Yep...the engineer (or otherwise) who invented the pull&push PTO lock has something to answer for. I only have 2 of that style on my farm...one of them on the only JD piece of equipment I own. Cheers from Oz.
I would like to find whoever designed the 3pt shaft setup and watch them try to hook it up a few times. They’ve obviously never had to actually use their design. I wouldn’t call it pleasure to watch you struggle with it, but it admittedly made me feel good knowing it’s not just me.
I got tired of fighting pto shafts on seasonal equipment and found it helps a lot to remove the shaft at the end of season and store it inside. THen hook up, bring the equipment inside and install shaft. Clean it, lube it, have it ready to go when you need it.
Sitting at home in the warmth of my family room it is easy to see what might make getting that #%&*!@ PTO easier to hook up! Take that shaft out of the tractor (just as you did) then go over to the work bench and clean the splines real good with a wire brush, stick it back in the tractor and smear a good coating of your choice lubricant all over it, then the connection should go a little smoother! Good luck and safe operating!
I SOMEHOW feel lots better -- that the young Zach, a big, fella 20 or so years younger than me, still has difficulty putting a PTO shaft on. I LOVED that part of the video, I feel better about myself now.
Spraying the PTO shaft with WD-40 or chain lube before you start typically helps to get PTO shafts to slide on much easier. Been there, done that, many times so I felt your pain.
Just a little advice from a 25 yr veteran of the road … I don’t ever set my trailer brakes unless I have to, specially in the winter because I personally don’t want to be pounding on drums at -20 because they froze up. I realize it’s in your heated shop but it’s really not necessary unless you are dropping your trailer or getting unloaded.
Zack. It's good that you make these videos for your dad to watch in warm weather and watching you struggling 😂 he's saying been there did that 😂. Keep up the good work 💪
Zac, we missed you all ! I realize it winter and there is not that much to show . Love the snow blowing and pushing videos , great seeing y'all tks Love the Styx tune
I love your “creative wiggling” and educational/ teachable moment about frozen water! Your one-handed farm chores while running YT cameras and squeezing into tight spots when you are full-develop Millennial Farmer simply hilarious!
I love looking at snow, on the TV in my living room in Florida. I did my time in the midwest winters. It's nice to see someone else having a time with the PTO. I'm your dad's age and I struggle with the PTO with "Aurthor Itis", my traveling companion in a much smaller area. 😉
How do you know which one goes to which item? Do you label them all? We have 20+ on the farm and I can't image taking up warm storage for them. I typically just put a heat gun on it if required and it can't get into the shop.
@@dfarmer_ not in warm shed in cold storige shed we have 15 shafts and usully left half on implement and pull out but sometimes we mix them usuly we know with lenght of it and shild collor
Time for surgery on the shoulder. I put up with it for years and suffered. Much better after surgery. Who knew your labrum doesn't work if it's not attached?
For our chronic pain, my wife and I bought something called Med Massager. It's basically a power sander with a foam pad in place of the sanding block. Costs a couple of bills, but it works on us. Might be good for your back. Just a thought.
Suggesting you cut holes on opposite sides of the pto plastic bell safety guard for your thumbs. That way both hands can pull retainer and push pto on at the same time. The holes also make greasing the u- joint easy. And please, don’t grease the pto slide tubes. Only lube it with a spray like JB 80 or something. Grease gets too gummy for slides in cold climates. Who knows, maybe next time that pto may fall on!
Awesome video Zach. Thank you Becky for the editing, any chance of doing a bloopers video. Knowing Zack I'm sure there's plenty of footage for it 😂😂😂 🚜🚜🚜
Yes, the PTO's are sometimes a pain in the ass, especially when its designed to pull back, and push forward. Why not just the simple pin you can press in, and slide it on?? Been struggling with those crappy designs before.
Somedays, the PTO on my mower goes on like warm butter on bread. Other days, I go through a can of lube, a dozen rags, a big hammer and then maybe it will lock in.
Before you hook up your snow blower pull the PTO shaft apart spray it down with WD-40 . Also spray some on the PTO shaft on your tractor, it will make hooking up a lot easier.
Why is it so entertaining watching someone struggle with a pto. Thank you Millenial Farmer.

Because he’s a actor not an actual farmer
Your right. Cold is cold Zack. No matter where you are at. I was in Korea n it snow alot n it got down pretty cold when I was in the army
makes me love my 9n ford and the ability to spin the shaft on the tractor with it disengaged and engine off makes hooking up a breeze
Once I setup the pto on the blower, the blower stays on, snow or no, it stays on. F that thing
Anyone noticed at 13:31 that he said he has some snow to haul out in a couple of weeks? I think he meant grain, not snow, lol. Good video, Zach!
Yeah. must be a new commodity.
I noticed that to.
Yup
😂 was just gonna comment, but you beat me to it.
Look forward to that video 😂
Struggling with a PTO is a universal experience for farmers, keeping it real!
Only to get it apart to apply grease to it, so you don't lose the universals.
I despise them big or small
Some of us non farmers have fought with a few too.
...and this is why Andy Detwiler was a man among men.
So happy when you post!
Pain is temporary. Agony is forever.
Push on.
The PTO should go together better if you clean it.
STYX renegade, after watching you for so many years I'm convinced our music library must be identical
17:45 That Ranger is a damn nice unit. (We all know Zach would think and probably say “that’s what she said”).
Please tell me you got the mower inside before it snowed. I don't know if we can handle another mowergate controversy!
I want to know where he's taking that load of snow
Minnesota.......😉😎
Classic!!😂

Zac, I think every viewer who has fought a PTO felt your pain. Cheers from a 32c Australia. 👍👍🍻🇦🇺
I can beat that 32c we had -35 as a high for a few days and a -40 over night. Cheers from the not so great white north.
Feel your pain with the pto. Learned my form, cursing from watching my dad curse and struggle.

13:35... I didn't know you hauled snow! 😂😂😂
I've enjoyed your show for years. Keep it up!

Just remember when its cold to avoid trailer hitch to shin contact as much as you can. It just hurts more when its cold out. =)
Two small buttons on the opposite side of each other of the PTO is even worse, Ohh i feel the pain

Was waiting for the "that's what she said." You didn't disappoint. Thanks for that.
Great to see you fighting the PTO shaft.....I hate hooking them up!
Someday someone is going to invent a better PTO shaft connection and get filthy rich!
Zach, your honesty “NumbNuts” was hilarious and that is how I think! Stay warm and safe!
And to think harmless farmer put those pto shafts on with his feet.
Unbelievable!
I miss that man.

Toothbrush-style wire brush inside and out. Bit-o-lube and done. If you force on, getting it off is an own-goal.
I love how honest you are. Good bad or ugly
You should discuss the farmer protest going on in Europe to help bring awareness to this topic. Just a thought. Have a great day
😂😂 At 13:30 where Zach says they have Snow to haul out😂😂
You beat me to it. 🤔
I felt the pain with you struggling with that PTO.

I thought you said we have to haul snow next week….🤣🤣. Keep up the good entertainment 👍👍
Love how I’m not the only one that reacts to a tight position and frustration that way
If it ain't tight it ain't right

I know the weather not the best in your area but we need more video's.
Good idea to turn the fans on so the snow is still cold when you're ready to haul it out! 😊
Haha, I’m so glad that I’m not the only one that struggles with connecting the PTO.. 😂

Hey Zack….Nice time-lapse snow removal. This episode was entertaining and winter creative footage. And “No body died”.
I hear ya on cortisone shots! I have been getting them in my right shoulder since 2017, having reverse shoulder replacement surgery in March.

Love the camo seat covers, it hides the dirt so nice.
I like that song too
Enjoying the snow blowing section of the video!! It’s a rare action done in the dead of winter!!! Cool Ranger by the way!!
That's a nice Ranger.
And thats why u put unused pto shafts in shop and keep it greased 😅

Whoops!
Great editing by Mrs Millennial Farmer at 12:15 🤣
Cortisone shots are so bad it’ll actually deteriorate the rest of the joint! I recommend Monavie Active Supplement for joint pain I know it works!
Styx- Renegade takes me back to high school in the 80's Lol
I use to hate trying to get some pto shafts on and off. Seeing you struggle brought back memories 😅
Try Vaseline
You are still very funny. Thanks for sharing your life with us. J.Au-en
$65,000 sitting on that trailer!! F’ing crazy!!

Yea for my chronic pain I send her to get sisters for the weekend😂😂😂
Wise men say always separate PTO shafts when out of season, and put them back together with grease or never seize.

I can't see why you would get the camouflaged Ranger. 😉 😆
There's two different types of people. Those who have struggled with a PTO shaft, and those that haven't ever touched one.
Renegade 🤘
i sure miss cat dog and jim
Hope the dogs like the new ranger

Ok, that was about the best “that’s what she said”!😂
How much would it cost me to get a load of that snow delivered down south? We would all love to play in it for the few hours before it melted.
That would be styx!! ❤
It was a pleasure 🙏

How is Jim doing?
A freshly plowed driveway in the winter feels better then a mowed yard, let me tell you, when you live in the snow 1/2 the time.
