    You have a well thought out and designed rotary axis that functions great! Really enjoyed your video. I've owned a CNCRP 4824 Pro for 4 years and would like to add a rotary axis however I can't justify the $2700 + that Avid (CNCRP) charges for the kit. If your willing to share your setup, I would appreciate any info you would provide.

      Matt Reidy absolutely. I'm having difficulty with the way Fusion 360 handles the transition speeds at the end of parallel paths. It's not controlled by lead in/out. It's bothersome jerky for us router guys.

    How did you set this up in Mach? And what did you have to set your dip switches to in the control box? I have the cncrp pro with everything all wired up. Just can’t figure out the tuning setup.

    A pity that you machined chunks out of your new tail stock running centre...! I'll bet that made a bit of a racket...!

    With parts of the bit going back and forth in mid air it seemed like the z-axis was off a bit, but as all you were doing was rounding it out, there didn't seem to be to much of an issue.

    Curious if a larger dust shroud will be coming from the various manufacturers to handle 4th axis work. The existing shoes don’t seem to catch dust any where near as well as they need to when you are using the 4th axis.

    @Matt Reidy Awesome, I have been planning on getting a CNCRouterParts table for awhile now and it looks like it might actually be happening soon. I have been interested in doing a rotary axis for said purchase and am I glad to see that you shared a video of your setup. Are you planning on using it only in that position or do you have plans to locate it elsewhere in order to get more height?

    • @MattReidy
      @MattReidy  6 лет назад +2

      I've got it rigged to be able to raise and lower into the table. See for details: drive.google.com/open?id=0B23R36bDW2nzTlo5aV95ckdSVUU

    I have CNCRP 48x96 pro. Was thinking of adding rotary as well. Few questions if you don't mind.
    Did the kit come with instructions for setting up in Mach3? Did you get additional controller from CNCRP?
    Thanks!

    • @MattReidy
      @MattReidy  6 лет назад +1

      No instructions but I have it all documented and glad to help. Yes - you need a 4th axis controller - I got mine from CNCRP to match the rest.

    Instead of Aspire I have VCarve Pro 9.5 and I'm curious as to whether you have ever tried cutting an STL file on a Tapered Piece? VCarve has the same setup as Aspire for Rotary Cuts and though I have figured the Rotary cut into a Cylindrical piece.. I haven't yet found if it is possible to make this same cut in a Tapered piece.

      don't get me wrong, it is a great tutorial but that is exactly what I was looking for in your video was how to make sure you clear your chuck and tail stock. you sort of explained it when you added the dowel through the middle but it would me nice to have it explained in more detail.
