What? Following the manufacturer’s instructions? Where’s your sense of adventure? Takes all the fun out of having to redo things. Well done, looking forward to your first spinning wheel spindles.
By chance, I just received my 4th axis from Avid earlier in the week. This video goes a long way in removing some anxiety and dread about setting things up. I should get a torque wrench. What is the torque suggested for extrusion? You are an easy-to-listen-to teacher and your videos are clean and void of fluff - a testament to your editing.
I do appreciate your kind words, but I think my editing needs a lot of work. Just my opinion, but thank you again. I'd say 99.999% of people don't bother with a torque wrench. They just snug it up and move on. Avid themselves suggest that. I spent too much time in the army working on helicopters to not have at least a suggested torque value, but that's just me. I spoke with the folks at 8020, and they recommend a torque of 15-18 ft lbs., but DO NOT go past 20 ft lbs. Basically, if you tighten it until it's tight, you'll be fine.
Mark wow, Thank you for a slow In-depth video. Your my go to instructor.. I'm brand new to the CNC and you are making it more easy to understand. I first seen you on the ICD woodcraft live so I look you up and seen what you had and now I'm hooked. what is the best program to load all the information to mill the job? I was told to get Openbuild or gsender Plus more?? Im slow but sure. age 75 Thanks for your video.
Believe it or not, John, it's not as much work as you'd think. If a person had a whole day to his or herself, they could easily go from boxes of parts to having it up and running in a day. The main reason it took me as long as it did was because I didn't have a whole day to devote to it. The alignment was tedious, but other than that, from start to finish I had it done in 2 days.
Yes, you certainly did. Welcome aboard! I'll be posting the links to Monday's Members Only live stream in just a few minutes. Check the Community Tab here on RUclips. I post them there every week: www.youtube.com/@MarkLindsayCNC/community
I've got to agree. Avid has some of the best instructions on the planet. I can't wait to see what you are going to do with the 4th axis!!!
Congrats Mark. Great video! It warms my heart that American engineering isn't dead. Haha

that looks like SO much work
It really wasn't bad. I got it assembled in one afternoon, then got it calibrated and leveled the next. I enjoyed the process.
Great video Mark I know it was alot more work and time than the video shows.
