Sounds like the battle Feild was at Rosevelt Lake good stuff Larry God bless .. I been to the museum a few times the last year been telling friends and family about it .. Thanks
Just got done watching the old movie with Glenn Ford that is partially kind of sort of maybe based on the legend of the mine in the superstitions, wish people were as interested in finding God as they are gold
In his autobiography, Geronimo was quoted as saying I have killed many Mexicans, but I don’t know how many because some of them weren’t worth counting. The story is that in 1851 when his village was raided by Colonial Jose Maria Carrasco his mother, his wife and his children were all killed. He was supposedly out on a trading mission. But the fact was, he was out raiding killing and pillaging himself, and not necessarily on a so-called trading mission. he put it that they just came in and slaughtered everybody pretty much because they were Mexican animals that didn’t like the Indians. But the fact is he broke the agreement like Larry Hedrick stated.
From the Front Door of my house in Salome I can look across to the southeast to about 6 or 7 miles away as the crow flies and view the Northeast Flank of the Harqua Hala Mountain where there is Tenahatchipi Pass, where King Woolsey and his men stopped while hunting Apaches, there in the middle of the trail was a Rich Pile of Highgrade Ore left by what he believed was from the 3 Frenchmen, that was in 1872. Earlier A.J. Peoples in the 1860's knew of the Frenchmen and their digs in the Harqua Halas .

I'm guessing accuracy of reporting events depends on the amount of frontier whiskey involved between event and reporting.

Having tried to research Arizona history, I can say written records prior to the 1880's are hard to find.
Love hearing this history!
There's definitely a lot of partial truths when it comes to hiding the truth of the superstition mountains. #ArcAngelExploration

I don’t know who in the world would stretch the truth a bit to make a story better. I know I sure wouldn’t ! No Sir !
