TRIPREPORT | Saudia (BUSINESS CLASS) | Boeing 777-300ER | Jeddah - Washington Dulles

- From time to time, the usual state-of-the-art Triple Seven that's supposed to operate Saudi's long-haul flights to New York, Washington, or Los Angeles, have to be substituted for one of their older ones. And that results in a notable decrease in quality, especially for business class travelers.

Why does this video only have SUBTITLES!?
As always, you may recognize subtitled videos by the 🟦BLUE🟦 text boxes in the thumbnails, while narrated videos have 🟥RED🟥 text boxes.
Our channel actually started out only showcasing inflight experiences with substitles and limited editing, to create the most authentic, nondisruptive experience for our audience. But, as RUclips changed, we gradually changed with it, to a style involving narration and thus more effort, which is also much more time-consuming to produce. We will still occasionally put out videos with substitles like today, so let us know if you prefer these, or the ones with voice-overs, so we know where to place our focus! 😄 We hope you enjoyed this tranquil air travel report nonetheless.
Thanks so much for this system. It's really useful!
I’d rather prefer the voice over ones
I actually prefer subtitled only. Reason being it is giving out a fun experience using your ears to enjoy for a flight reviewer perspective! So any forms is fine!
I have been watching simply aviation since 2016 and pretty much know the channel for these subtitled videos. But the the narrated ones have been a breath of fresh air. Especially because you guys do them soo right. Tbh I had thought you guys stopped subbed videos 😅. If I had to choose I would definitely say more narrated videos cuz they are some of the best trips reports out there and I find my self watching them start to finish, such as the recent Air Astana Business class review. Shout out to David, Felix and the entire team at Simply aviation for these Trip reports.
i like the video with subtitles
Saudia is still lagging behind Emirates and Qatar. Price is always good though.
On price they can’t beat Air China cheap as chips 😅..
@@markjoseph196fly on air china and you will see why 😂
I feel like they've just given up and let Riyadh Air compete with the dominant folks. Saudia is now an airline for the Saudis.
It is heavily subsidizes by the Saudi government
The 2-2-2 angleflat is still arguably a better hard product than what Emirates mostly flies (2-3-2 angleflat on the 777s) to the US.
I tought it was brutally honest for one sec💀💀
More like Brutally Downgraded!
Same 😂
miss the old intro music
Same here 😂 now it seems they're using the Brutally Honest music for Trip Reports as well 😅
The downgrade to non-flat seats is surely disappointing, but those old seats still look super comfortable for sitting/lounging. And when you are traveling with your neighbor, the lack of privacy of not having your own little pod must be okay.
The food looks delicious, and the amenity kit came in a bag I think I'd actually look forward to reusing later on
Non-flat business seat is basically premium economy. No need to call business.
Love the food. The generous food more than makes up for the seats. I don't mind the seats.
I believe that after Saudia has their brand re-announced with the new logo and everything, the service has gotten better a bit. But to be honest, the planes are still outdated on the most part but the plane with the formula E livery has a great cabin. They only fly that plane to the US and domestically on the Jeddah - Riyadh route when needing the aircraft in either city. But their new A321-neo fleet is quiet nice.
Nice tripreport :D
I just want to share my appreciation SA crew for giving us both excellent trip reports and brutally honest episodes. You are doing great job, that also giving me some hints for future travels. Best regards from Poland ✈
Love this
Nice trip report ❤❤ the food looks yummy for me :-)
Had a similar experience on Saudia, I was flying from Mumbai India to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a 6 hour flight in business class. I was expecting their staggered business seats on their A330 but when I boarded, I realised it was the recliner seats (like the ones in US buisness class) and no lie flat ones. Only a pair of flimsy headphones was provided and the screen didn’t work. 6 hours of boredom later I landed in Jeddah
Really like the new intro!
New intro? I have heard this one for a while
@@berthebear_realwith a touch new graphics, everything else is the same
@@CF792 literally the same as the previous trip report from 3 months ago
Delicious .. meals . Fresh fruits . !!
Great report as always.
1. I think if it would have been the B787 you are flying in, you would have enjoyed it more. The single tray meal service was likely due to the fact that there is another passenger besides you and they did not want to disturb the other person.
2. In the intro part, Jeddah and Mecca are different places.
Keep up the great videos.
There will be a Brutally Honest video coming up about Saudia's Business Class aboard the Airbus A330 Regional and Boeing 787-9. :) Also, Jeddah is in Mecca Province, that's why it's listed in the into. City, Province, Country. Jeddah, Mecca, Saudi Arabia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecca_Province Hope that clears things up! :)
@@simply_aviation Thank you for the clarification. You are right, Mecca is both a province and a city.
Anyway, look forward to the Brutally Honest video.
Interesting
Great to see Subtitles TripReports back on channel 😍
Love the Brutally Honest Series but wanted some change ... 😅
Great Going Simply Aviation ✌️
Another great trip report! The catering on board looked particularly tasty. 😊
Hello simply avaition! I love this channel!
Yes.....Normal Trip Report are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The service was generous not disappointing at all.
Love your videos man keep going and soon you will reach 1 mil
Very nice.
The cuisine and catering on this airline Saudia seems absolutely incredible. The seats are good too. I think their infligh product is excellent, although it is likely better on their newer and refurbished aircraft.
Its Back!!!
As someone who onlu travels in economy class, these looks amazing! LOL
This seat reminds me of Airfrance old premium economy but with extra legroom
From the thumbnail I expected worse, apart from the angled seat seems more than alright.
7:22 Nice to see the Composite and S-Video connectors, so luckily I can bring my own VHS player and libary! ❤
It has been a while since I have seen you all do a trip report. I am glad they are not dead. You all seem to prefer them.
Nice review
4:50..Well to me, i think those business class seats look pretty awesome. If you're a sci-fy guy, just imagine you travelled back through time to fly Saudi Air to America. It will be alright. 😉😁
Love your videos even the new intro amazing!
I equally like both the narrated and subtitled reports. Just one thing. Will we ever hear Felix speak!
I’m from the DC area and SV is a popular cheaper option for the large Indian and Middle Eastern communities in the area for going back home
MORE DULLES FLIGHTS
Dining looked great at least 😅
❤
People have high expectation for Saudia... so, it might be a shock for them to see this cabin for such long flight. Except from the dated cabin, everything was excellent.
U FLEW TO WASHINGTON?? FINALLY AND THATS MY LOCAL AIRPORT BUT NOT ONLY THAT I MIGHT HAVE TRACKED UR FLIGHT
Excellent video and great trip report!!😸
very interesting meal and oddly weird cabin atmosphere I think
Great review - Thanks.
Hello there Simply Aviation!! First of all, I would like to say that I have been a big fan of your videos for many years now.
However, I have a question. In the future, could you please do a review on Aeroexpress Regional Airlines, from Budapest to Cluj Napoca or in reverse, if you wish? The reason why I would like you to do this is that they have 3 Embraer 120 Brasilia aircraft in their fleet, with all of them being over 35+ years old. Also, as far as I am aware, they are the only airline in Europe that still use this type of aircraft.
Kind regards,
Andrew from Zurich.
If they used another Boeing 777-300ER, it might’ve been better because of the diamond configuration business class. I dunno y my nation’s airline still hasn’t updated some of the older planes in the fleet, they should’ve been upgraded by now!
They're the epitome of hit & miss
The new intro is just like brutally honest
Great flight. Bit surprising me to see Transatlantic Flight from Middle East to US using 2-2-2 seating layout in Business. Correct me If I Wrong, this configuration always deployed at Hajj Flight.
They have a great bar in terminal 2
Remember when AF pulled the same stunt and we wished it was a brutally honest report. Guess we got a round 2 again
Really nice new intro 🤙🏻
The old one was way better than this
Nice
Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
Always look at the bright side, if EK has an aircraft change to a bird with older interior, you would have a 2-3-2 seat configuration in Business class…
Looks like this is going to be a fun one! Can you guys also do airindias new a350?
Hey david are you doing this for fun or for work . Love hout vids tho 😊
Narrated > Caption. I’ve been following you since you started the channel and know that it was captions only before. But being able to hear what you’re saying while i’m doing chores/working out/ or even on the work
commute. i can listen when i can’t read. Just my 2 cents of course.
As someone who has taken three-day bus rides across Canada, flown Chinese economy class across the Pacific and hitch-hiked in winter, I absolutely can't imagine how excruciating your 13 hour trip without a lie-flat seat must have been!
😂😂😂
I prefer to hear your voice David 😅
Personally, I don't see much to complain about here. I can never sleep on planes, so the lack of a lie-flat seat wouldn't mean much to me. That excellent food alone would be enough to make me happy!
according to aerolopa, only their 77Z config which has the F class has the better J class seats. All other configurations have the outdated 2-2-2 layout.
I think the older 777's were used in South Asian flights, Western Asia, North African, and other Southeast Asian flights like Manila.
I really like this lounge. It just lacks a good apron view, but every thing else seems to be excellent.
I like the subtitled and narrated videos the same. I was curious if this was David or someone else's trip report though haha
Hi! I have one request. Can you do a trip report on the new Japan Airlines A350-1000?
I actually missed that *MK2's Far Away* intro though 😢
True, but this new one feels more fresh and more higher quality
Hello, your tripreport is always the best!
I'm going to travel from Pakistan to Chicago in July. I optioned Qatar and emirates , but theyre very expensive for those dates. Turkish airlines is available in an affordable price with three connecting flightas stopover one via gulf air. Can you kindly suggest sth?
If it means a cheaper ticket, I'm happy to fly in a cabin like that. Unfortunately they are rare now.
I don't eat halal, but the vegetarian options look good.
Thanks for flying to my home airport of Dulles! See you at IAD in the future :)
Interesting, the food looks nice but terrible seat, and tbh I would never fly on Saudia anyway.
As a side point, you called the beef an "entrée", but it was the main course, entrée means starter lol.
In the US, the entree is the main course. In other parts of the world, from what I have experienced, that may not be the same.
DULLES MENTIONED LETS GOOOOO
Saudia is a type of boutique airline but they are lagging behind the other middle East airlines but the main positive of Saudia is the average age of their aircrafts is very less
next trip-report on cape air pls. nice video btw
I flown this aircraft back in 2012 when it was 5 months old, it was good aircraft but now the seats start showing his age, specially on business class
These days the US flights operate by newer 777 3-class configuration with 1-2-1 first/business class unlike this video it’s recorded on February 2023
Hey simply aviation, are you intending on ever covering Kuwait airways? If so I think you’d enjoy the b777-300 product and even the a330-800
Yes
I like the new intro
I have flown with Saudia several times, and i must say, there newer products, 787 and A320neo, in the business class, have amazing products, seats and options. the older A330 and 777 have really gotten to an age where it isnt great anymore, but for the price is ok. The lounge is pretty cool (except for the silly plastic cutlery) but again for the price that one can get flights for, especially in business class, you get more than you can by other airlines
Kinda reminds me of the Etihad 16-hour trip you took, with the 777 and the mediocre service.
i l o v e the intro so much
The old ones was way better
Can you review flying on an A340-300, they're getting rarer by the day
Yo you should try Bonza Airways! It's a Australia airline
Flagship lounge no sit down dining 😮
Surely the shiniest toilet doors in the industry
very nice and very made well trip report but i just miss the old intro music since i find it way better 😅
Interesting that the flap fairing seems to be hanging down from the wing at 21:32. Does anyone else notice that?
21:30 Is it me, or did that one flap track fairing just fell off?
Looks like it
IM GONNA MISS THE OLD INTRO
What a shame. Saudia is a good carrier and i have flown long haul with them. Sad to see you didnt like it hopefully you have a better experience with them next time.
Disappointed?? How?? Okay that's not a perfect business class experience but man look at the price he paid ! That's the price of an economy class ticket for this trip. So considering the insanely low price that's almost perfect to me
I really hope Riyadh Air actually makes up for the loss of Saudia.
I flew this plane back in December 2022 🤓
I almost thought this was going to be an episode of brutally honest with the intro 😂
Finally a tripreport
can you try cebu pacific in the furture thanks
hehe 32 secs
Price may be good but that seating arrangement is from another century. Deal breaker. Also, I enjoy a G &T before my meal. No matter how inexpensive I don’t think I’d choose them. They just don’t measure up.
i like the old intro more.
A seat being not the latest model does this necessarily mean it isn't comfortable? Not to my experience.
couldn't you maybe wait until the next day to get on the newer plane?
@canaryX2784 I meant to get another ticket
I don't mean this in a bad way, but videos with voice spoiled me, and I became too lazy to watch videos with subtitles only
Saudia’s product varies with it’s fleet. Long haul on old a330 or 777 are just unbearable whereas their 787 product and onboard service are on par with Qatar or Emirates
