I have no idea why people write negatively about the British parliament. I personally really like all the unruliness and openness of it's members, but at the same time a wish to adhere to the fundamental principles and traditions. As someone from a another country of the EU, I really don‘t know how to react anymore. Brexit is a mess. While I‘m tired of this never ending story, I still feel utterly sorry for what is happening in and to the UK. Alpine78 a referendum ia not a vote. It is in not way legally binding, it is merely the government asking a question. We have a 'representative democracy' where we elect MPs to act on our behalf. Even if they go against what we want. They act on what they believe is our best interest. So what they are doing is ENTIRELY democratic. Pick up a politics book and educate yourself on what a 'representative democracy' is.

As a foreigner I am pretty clueless about what is going on in this video. It is quite entertaining though esspecially mr. Bercow. Some woman with a sword and a man come in to collect some sort of staff in the name of the queen and half of the parlement leaves the house. I am sure there is more to it.

It's a tradition, albeit a silly one, for the Speaker to be physically manhandled *into* his chair when appointed to his position, to express that the MPs *really* want him there or something. Labour MPs are, weirdly enough, following parliamentary convention in expressing their protest at him stepping down.

He was impartial as the speaker, and for that he has to be respected.
Funny thing is, he was right about prorogation in this video. He outlined how unusual it was, then it was ruled to be unlawful.
This was the moment when Bercow lost all credibility as a neutral and unbiased Speaker of the House! Oddly enough, the weakness of the Tory Party and Tory government emboldened Bercow to behave like a Labour politician by his utterances and rulings. There were cowed into challenging his authority by failing to kick him out when it had chance after chance to do it!
