if he stayed around i don't think the conversation between naomi and kira would've been the same, and kira would probably have written that she silently walked away or something like she did
The snow part was brilliantly written. Had it not snowed, the guy who walked pass, who was a part of the investigation team would have blown Light's lies. But, with a little help from the 'gods', it snowed, and the guy had to put up an umbrella whilst walking pass them. Meanwhile, light thinks he has won with his own wit, but it was pure luck that he didn't get caught.
+Jacely Salveson I feel the same. The English actor got Light's fake, innocent voice down but definitely didn't get the menacing and maniacal side of him.
The Japanese version is FAR superior. Light FUCKING KILLS IT in Japanese. And listen to Ryuk's laugh. Unlike the forced eng dub laugh here you can have a sense of how rotten inside Ryuk really is. His laugh is natural and unnatural at the same fucking time. You can hear that it's not exactly evil but there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with it like it's not human. Same thing with Light by the end if the anime and the removed L's funeral scene. None of the other versions have ANYTHING on the original.
I loved it when Light said "I'm the God of the new world" and then proceeded to kill a 12 year old homeless child for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his homeless family truly one of the death note moments of all time
Quite frankly, I find this kind of turning point that makes Light an even more intriguing character. It's not the first to happen in a tv series where a good character slowly spirals into madness and evil. The way his ambitions combine with such a divine, deathly power corrupts him to the core as he becomes more and more like the type of person he wishes to kill. In my opinion, such complexity and degradation lead to an even more interesting character which intrigues me as to how much further he falls. It's human nature to be so easily corrupted by such temptations. The way the series depicts Light as an intelligent, diligent student who eventually spirals into madness, becoming manipulative and depraved because of the immense power a book holds is well laid out and clever in how he decides to use it in his schemes and how it inspires all these elaborate schemes to achieve his goal. After all, what would you expect from one who obtains such power to kill? As evil as he is, I love the complexity of his character and the concept of him as a villain and character who gradually falls from grace as he becomes more ruthless in his ambitions.
what i love the most about death note is the shocking amount of inteligent characters and their hidden chess battles, writing believable inteligent characters is so hard, it takes talent to do it succesfully, Light, L, Naomi, and even Misa at the begining, all of them very smart. Naomi should have stayed longer, she was looking for justice, not revenge, only to be taken along with her life by the very same monster who killed her beloved.
Monster? sure he kills some innocent people that try to catch him, but he also saved millions in the next years that occurred, he ended all wars and 70% of crimes, according to my calculations, this would save about 500,000 people every year. Killing criminals and maybe 20 innocent people is a small price to pay for world peace.
@@rithikdhakshnamoorthy2974at least walt cared for his family. On the other hand, the edgy psychotic egomaniac teen with God complex was ready to kill his own sister to save himself.
If you still dont get it, its because Ryuk is laughing. Hes laughing because Naomi's lifespan just blew up from many many years to a couple minutes. A person's lifespan is predicted because of that persons actions. Remember that one death god that looked out for that one woman and was curious why she was close to death and the only reason why is she picks this road when she goes somewhere (work or whatever i guess) and there was a crazy man there at that time. The second Naomi confessed to having used a fake ID and apologising. Her numbers changed. Her fate was sealed. Thats why hes laughing. (Remember that earlier in this scene Ryuk laughed a bit when Light got a fake ID. Thats because he can see her name.) Since Light has already understood that he can use Ryuks attitude as proof for the results of his schemes, he knows he fucked her when Ryuk starts hysterically laughing like a normal human would if he were to see 20 midgets doing a circus trick and failing hard.
killing her and her boyfriend was the moments that show that light had crossed a line. he wasn't just killing those who deserve it but those who get in his way, innocent or guilty. this is why batman's no kill code is so important. because when you have that much power and answer to no one, who's gonna stop you?
if he didnt kill them , he would have been caught , he even tries to tell naomi to leave detective work but she persists that she will find kira , i think thats why light mocks her before she dies , many say that light takes sadistic pleasure by revealing that he is kira and smiling , but i think its his way of saying this is what you get for going against me(kira) .
I have never seen anyone as impressive as Light Yagami in my life. He manipulated the fuck out of a former A-level agent, the agent who worked under L to catch BB!
It always gives me chills when the music goes silent and 5 seconds before the death note starts working he tells her he’s Kira and that feeling of hopelessness and despair shows on her face
I have to disagree. There is no pure evil it cant just be black or white both Light and L had there greys. I would consider light as a person with a heavy sense of justice who turned into a maniac due to power which lead to him contradicting his own methods and sense of justice. But not EVIL
@@ifmondayhadaface9490 Well obv he wanted to get rid of her so he could continue. Kira was kinda evil but he was not killing people who werent doing anything. He killed criminals and people that tried to catch him.
I remember this scene was so freaking intense, but when it finally happened...God I felt so bad for Naomi. But in the same time I was a little happy that Light won.
It's crazy to feel bad about a fictional character, but the expression she gave after finding out he was kira was outstanding and shocking, the very face of death in her eyes sealed this scene, incredible writing.
such a beautiful scene. i remember crying twice over Naomi's death. the build up was way too intense for me not to feel something. you may love or hate Light, but this show is masterfully crafted. i wish more stuff like Death Note existed. it's so straightforward with its characters, and isn't afraid to have an MC spout dialogue about justice while blatantly murdering the innocent. it's the way the story moves on, and these scenarios just "happen", is what gives me constant goosebumps when rewatching this scenes. it's so evil. so sad, yet so... good. it's weird that my sad feelings are equal to a compliment. i mean it's anime after all, you can't help but appreciate the art form. really good stuff
as his imagine if God can make such ruthless world why not he do the same becuz god testing human evil and good and let criminal what they do ..if he want to be god any mean necessary for him ...he have to kill his emotion and move forward that's what he thinks
who tf hates a fictional character anyways. i like light because of how few good written and entertaining characters exist in anime nowadays. in the end they dont exist in the real world. in fiction there is no real life or death, though we do draw the line at sexual assault. watching death note was an amazing experience. cant get characters like L and Light again. theres just something so cool about this older style of animation you know. its less sharp and not as crisp as todays animation, which makes it sooo much more ominous
simon jackson Imagine thinking someone is a lunatic for enjoying a fictional scene. In fact, I think you may be the real lunatic for being unable to differentiate reality and fiction.
Bro the shading on her face at 1:44 is so heart-wrenching man. I remember seeing her face change when Light reveals that he is Kira and then seeing this face just after and my heart dropped to my stomach. What a brilliant scene.
Naomi is not being controlled, she dies in the exact moment the minute was over. Look at her face. There is no more life in those eyes, everything which made "Naomi Misora" was gone. What is left is just an empty shell with nothing but a purpose: cease her existence. And the cruelest part? Light confessed to be Kira, in just the right amount of time to completely break her hearth before taking her life. Her last moment was made of utter pain and despair.
If Ryuk didn't laugh, Light wouldn't have been so certain in his plan. There was a chance that Naomi would hand him another fake ID but Ryuk's laugh confirmed to Light that he was on the right track.
A bit before 1:00 is the best irony in the world. If he hadn't walked past them like it was nothing, then he might have been able to find Kira. But he just walked by. The way the music stops the moment Light touches her ID, and the snow starts falling is so well done, you know she's dead even before he writes her name or thinks anything. the way the clock echoes right at the time is so well done as well, and then you transition to her and she's completely under her control. this was when I realized how interesting Death Note was going to be. Like before, we knew Light was pretty smart, and L was too. But this scene showed the line between the justice Light is pursuing, and the justice Kira is pursuing, and exactly what Kira will do in order to stay in power, and how intelligently Light can pursue that goal. this scene was so well done, I'm a bit sad we didn't see the ending part, where she was legitimately walking to her death (with the gallows).
light is a real monster, you can see he actually takes some sort of sadistic pleasure in the way he kills whoever gets in his way, he didn't need to tell her anything about being kira, he risks a lot in this scene and gets lucky that Aizawa didn't see them together before she disappears or he would definitely have been caught a lot earlier...
@@madamadadane4387 And Light didn't learn that during his final confrontation with Near at the warehouse, sadly. Imagine if he didn't have to act all cocky and claim his victory before it's due. Things could've gone a bit differently if that happened.

Bro the time I was watching death note and this part came the whole scene from the strating till the ending my was getting chills u really can't disagree that Light is one of the most genius killers of all time...
I am actually watching death note for the first time and I wanted to share a realization I had. One of the best parts in this whole scene is actually when the spirit starts laughing. It marks the point where ryuk notices that Light was able to deceive Naomi and set her future in stone - I have this strong belief because ryuk often reacts to the current situation Light is in and it isn't even the first time ryuk reacted in this scene. Really powerful and underlines the descent that this character is going through. Not only that but also the fascination that ryuk is actually developing through light's methods. This happens in the sixth episode (if I am not mistaken) so I imagine this will be a hell of a ride since he already has fallen so far so soon...
Also how it starts to snow because in order for her fate to be sealed, the detective walking by would have to put up his umbrella to not notice what was happening.
The way the colours changed from colourful to black and white with snow just showed that it was the end of naomi. Truly the best anime i have ever watched
This is so despreciable and so admirable... oh god the way Kira plays with human feelings it's admirable... you hatte him because of his madness and cruelty, but also love him for his brillinancy and intelligence!
This is one of the reasons why I absolutely loved that anime. It's great to see another reminder of it. And I absolutely loved that music, when it's symbolized what happens to her, as she starts walking up those stairs to her suicide...
I never could have known how impactful this one scene would be on me when I first watched this show as a teenager. The way Naomi's stomach-dropping blood-curdling realization is animated on her face has stayed with me, it still holds up. I even find that watching new content nowadays that have a twist or reveal just doesnt hit home for me unless their face has the same emotional weight that Naomi had in this scene.
@@Edward-bb2uy No he didn't, the manga shows that 1 year later after Light's death, everything went back to how it was before, the only thing that changed is now Kira is considered the world's biggest serial killer in History books, and he has his own religion of people praying for him to return

Light Yagami would say Its just a prank bro. And he dont have proof
He actually ain't even see light standing there because of his big ass umbrella
It's aizawa
He ends up surviving and catches him
The snow part was brilliantly written.
It was everyone vs Kira, so he needed to have something supernatural, it would just be unfair, if he didnt.
Exactly. Brillabt scene right there.
You need high IQ to do something.. just luck won't save your ass.. can't believe light haters are soo dumb

Windforce6 No! I feel like the dub got L's voice wrong.
I like way more the spanish version (México) when light acts like Kira.his voice turns more evil

Bro watching Death Note 2

This scene put me once and for all on L's side
Щефа̀н Гѫ́нџеѡвѣ́нꙋ he couldn’t or he would’ve Been caught

@Ashley Lake L never really considered light as a friend, he just wanted to play with light's mind
Me too, i was on Light´s side until he started to kill inocents, and when Naomi died i really get mad
what i love the most about death note is the shocking amount of inteligent characters and their hidden chess battles, writing believable inteligent characters is so hard, it takes talent to do it succesfully, Light, L, Naomi, and even Misa at the begining, all of them very smart. Naomi should have stayed longer, she was looking for justice, not revenge, only to be taken along with her life by the very same monster who killed her beloved.
Rey pember 😭
Monster? sure he kills some innocent people that try to catch him, but he also saved millions in the next years that occurred, he ended all wars and 70% of crimes, according to my calculations, this would save about 500,000 people every year. Killing criminals and maybe 20 innocent people is a small price to pay for world peace.
That's the complaint I had with Monster anime. It had good lessons, true, but Most of Johan things were off screen. Like it was too much

who walks around with a fake driver licence?
Thats because he can see her name.)
Since Light has already understood that he can use Ryuks attitude as proof for the results of his schemes, he knows he fucked her when Ryuk starts hysterically laughing like a normal human would if he were to see 20 midgets doing a circus trick and failing hard.
Light Yagami saw the trust in her eyes. She confess to him that she used fake name before

This scene has stuck with me the most over the years. Her realization is so brutal... Yet we're also somehow relieved that Light pulled it off.
killing her and her boyfriend was the moments that show that light had crossed a line. he wasn't just killing those who deserve it but those who get in his way, innocent or guilty. this is why batman's no kill code is so important. because when you have that much power and answer to no one, who's gonna stop you?
if he didnt kill them , he would have been caught , he even tries to tell naomi to leave detective work but she persists that she will find kira , i think thats why light mocks her before she dies , many say that light takes sadistic pleasure by revealing that he is kira and smiling , but i think its his way of saying this is what you get for going against me(kira) .

I have to disagree. There is no pure evil it cant just be black or white both Light and L had there greys. I would consider light as a person with a heavy sense of justice who turned into a maniac due to power which lead to him contradicting his own methods and sense of justice. But not EVIL

It's crazy to feel bad about a fictional character, but the expression she gave after finding out he was kira was outstanding and shocking, the very face of death in her eyes sealed this scene, incredible writing.
As chilling a scene as it was in the manga. Has to be one of the best scenes.

such a beautiful scene. i remember crying twice over Naomi's death. the build up was way too intense for me not to feel something.
you may love or hate Light, but this show is masterfully crafted. i wish more stuff like Death Note existed. it's so straightforward with its characters, and isn't afraid to have an MC spout dialogue about justice while blatantly murdering the innocent. it's the way the story moves on, and these scenarios just "happen", is what gives me constant goosebumps when rewatching this scenes. it's so evil. so sad, yet so... good. it's weird that my sad feelings are equal to a compliment. i mean it's anime after all, you can't help but appreciate the art form. really good stuff

who tf hates a fictional character anyways. i like light because of how few good written and entertaining characters exist in anime nowadays. in the end they dont exist in the real world. in fiction there is no real life or death, though we do draw the line at sexual assault. watching death note was an amazing experience. cant get characters like L and Light again. theres just something so cool about this older style of animation you know. its less sharp and not as crisp as todays animation, which makes it sooo much more ominous

I really love to see misora naomi's face when she know light is kira, one of the best scene in death note
That's the best part
This scene is a masterpiece, perfect!
