All he had to do to win was just sit in his room writing names, not get himself directly involved in the investigation. That's like rule #1 of getting away with your crimes. Don't help the people who are trying to catch you.
L is one of my utmost favourite character in deathnote. deathnote 2017 pretty much made L dirty. fans don't have to agree with me, the way L in the live action doesn't feel or act like the L in the anime. they made my L a huge crybaby which the real L never do.
