Yeah. They were a punk band back then. I spun this all the time when DJing at my college radio station. So LICENSED TO ILL with it's heavy rap beats was a bit of a shock... but I still loved it. And played the shit out of that too. They came full circle, though. They reclaimed their punk roots in the late 90s when they rocked "Sabotage" with real instruments. Saw 'em in concert that tour and my ears are still bleeding! Don't matter. Rockin' or rappin', the Boys always knew how to tear the roof off the mother sucker.
I remember seeing this video on a Saturday Morning watching YO MTV RAPS. Once again I Cudnt find it in any local record shop. But a week later I found out its on THE KRUSH GROOVE SOUNDTRACK & ENDED UP buying a full album for this 1 song
Long Island radio station WLIR luckily had the balls to play this back when it came out. That was the first I’d heard the Beastie Boys.. I’m glad we had a cool station like that, it totally changed my musical tastes.
