In the spring of 2023, less than one month apart, two highly anticipated blockbusters were released in theaters. Both movies starred Chris Pratt and both movies featured a song that played over particularly memorable set pieces. This is that song.
Classic. Who still thinks this is music that NEEDS to be heard to steer today's artist towards what true artists and entertainers did. They were entertaining and rocked it. Not just cussing for a while and calling it done. Plus killer riffs.
Obviously you look at music surface level with the most trendy songs. There are a lot of good bands and songs now but you do need to search for them. Back then, what was popular was really what was heard but now you could find so many inde artists its amazing. Like I agree, I don’t enjoy the modern rap genre either but you just need to search.
Will never forget being 6 and jamming out to all their songs with my dad. NSTB and Brass Monkey were always my favs. 17 years later I'm still jamming out and know I'll always come back. RIP to my pops and his favorite member MCA
I love this song. It hits hard with me cause my dad's a truck driver for Brooklyn bottling. We would listen to this when he would drive his load from Milton NY to Brooklyn. This brings me back to being a kid riding with him.
Liquid gold. What a door to the past. Beastie's always brought down the roof, and my parents hated their influence as I grew up as an impressionable kid. 🤙
52 here also, seen them in concert in 1986-87 with run DMC on the together forever tour at Starwood amphitheater in Nashville. Would give anything to go back to those days
Didn't like the Beastie Boys initially. Note: I am old, 61 years old. I heard Brass Monkey when in Dallas in the late 80's....loved it, so much I had to get the CD to check them out. Now, I consider Licensed to Ill an amazing masterpiece, and 3 or 4 other later tunes - admittedly, they are mainstream, not deep cuts - resonate in my mind regularly. These kids, now old guys, made an impact on the level of genius - in terms of originality and long lasting impact. Respect

Typical critics. 'Different is bad, be hip hop or rock but not both. And why is there a turntable?!' Well, at least the people loved them. And still do
That's truly interesting. I think something similar happened with early Jazz or Rock N' Roll. Perhaps it was both. Black Americans founded the genre(s), but couldn't quite hit platinum. But Elvis (for rock) and a number of white individuals for Jazz grew more popular exponentially. Not because they were better, but simply because people like representation and are more willing to support people who look like them. Louie Armstrong's skill made him go international, but he had to give his all to receive his well-deserved recognition. Someone on here made a pretty insightful comment. Black Americans create the genres, but because they make up a small percentage, their reach isn't as long as say white Americans. Therefore, when white Americans do the same thing, it gets national and international attention and becomes what we call "mainstream". I've noticed this recurring pattern for decades. Thanks for the information. Time to do more research.

I was 15 when i heard the intro and a gorgeous, confused redhead comes down from a bus. Then i see the teased hair, him rocking on stage. I was forever hooked 😊 GnR forever #1❤
The best rap I've ever heard, The Beastie Boys are not into weed, killing, rape, or any of that shit!
Dude, Run-DMC has some damn good music without any of that stuff too.
Reid Templeton cool
also good choices
Rainbow Dash Lol they may not have rapped about weed but all the artists you and everyone else mentioned def smoke weed. And do your research guy, nothin wrong with weed, whether you choose to smoke it or not.
funny cuz a lot of their fan base smokes herbz!
I went with some friends on a 20+ hour drive to a martial arts tournament once in college; we listened to this song over and over on the drive back to stay awake. It may have literally saved my life ;)
I have been playing this song for years - and now it is in the Mario movie. Ain't that one of the coolest things for rap fans and gamers? 💥💥💥
the movie is a shame to any gamer tbh
Dude I literally just came from the cinemas thinking about that shit😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@annanadel bro what are you on about
NO.........SLEEP..........TIL BOWSER!!!
Nintendo and Illumination chose much better songs for the soundtrack of this movie than EA with the last 2 NFS 💀
Beastie boys you are a hall of fame!😊
In the spring of 2023, less than one month apart, two highly anticipated blockbusters were released in theaters.
Both movies starred Chris Pratt and both movies featured a song that played over particularly memorable set pieces.
This is that song.
That's pretty cool when you think about it 😅
Except GOTG used the song way better than Super Mario.
2:30 is such a legendary moment, MCA really went off
As someone who went from hair metal head to rap goddess in "91, thank god for the Beasties.
Will never forget being 6 and jamming out to all their songs with my dad. NSTB and Brass Monkey were always my favs. 17 years later I'm still jamming out and know I'll always come back. RIP to my pops and his favorite member MCA
One of the top 10 Hip-Hop/Rap songs of all time. No question.
1986 and still rocking hard from 16 years old to 52 years old! Dang, I miss the good old days!
Hell yeah 50
52 here also, seen them in concert in 1986-87 with run DMC on the together forever tour at Starwood amphitheater in Nashville. Would give anything to go back to those days
I'm 52 in January
57 an I'm still not taking anything seriously
James Gunn knows how to pick an amazing song for an amazing film, I'm going to miss him at Marvel so much.
Respect
Мне кажется Американские испольнители и другие зарубежные исполнители и слушатели не представляют насколькл сильно все эти великие группы популярны в России причем никто даже не понимает ни единого слова. Но всем очень нравится😂
I've been "rocking this party" since it came out... I don't know just how the heck I missed this rendition of the song! I literally just turned 50, and I still love these guys! RIP to the one that left us too early!!!
God I miss when music was like this
me too..... even though I'm 12
I'm ten years older than you and I wasn't even born yet when this came out either
+Sylvia Rose Another 12 year old on RUclips. Where are your parents?
Same too and I'm 16
Typical critics. 'Different is bad, be hip hop or rock but not both. And why is there a turntable?!' Well, at least the people loved them. And still do
Bleeping/censoring this is just sacrilege. This is art for FUCK’S SAKE!!!!
Hell Yeah
its am American thing, most songs play raw in Eu
This is how guns get banned from cartoons
worse than defacing a statue
Before they recently remastered this vid in HD it wasn't censored... we're going backwards!
2:24 ain’t seen the light since we started this band, mca get on the my man! Love that part!
people forget about how awesome this album is
Amazing fight choreography combined with high quality CGI. Haven't seen that in a long time.

NO SEX TIL MARRIAGE...........oh well I tried!
😭😭😭😭dat jfmu
X2 😭🤣
One if the best and most rememberable albums ever made
It's "memorable"...and I'm sure glad I never heard anything they did until tonight...about 30 seconds was enough.
Rememberable........ congratulations on coining a new word. I'm sure it will catch on
I don't care how old I get. I'll stop everything when Beastie Boys comes on. Every. Damn. Time.
Boomer here returning for good memories. This hit the spot.
Ok boomer
X'er here. All yall STFU
Me too 😄 idk why I randomly thought of them
Absolutely
Took Rap and Rock to a whole nother level.
This was the first music video I worked on. I was the Production Assistant and still have the “License to I’ll” album they gave me
My favourite guys since 1994
I'm 40 so I wasn't lucky enough to see their 1980s music till RUclips
I love this song, I must have bought this album over a hundred of times, the Beastie Boys was the shit, Hip Hop's first multi platinum album
I arrived in Brooklyn, now I can sleep
Erica Lin
Good job Erica,
my only question:
How long was your journey-
Was it days weeks or months?
I can see why this is top comment
Now get a bag
NO SLEEP

There will never be another Bestie Boys...this era of music is all gone
I know and that kills me. I miss this era very much
@@brianmeen2158 yeah man, this is crazy
Thank goodness!
who cares. Every generation thinks their music is special and the golden age of rock or rap or whatever. The fact is they are only golden ages because the audience were young. In reality they are all pretty crap really.
Nobody ill-er than the Beasties.. still gives me chills til this day.. one of the dopest damn beats ever made
I hope all my people who grew up jamming the beastie boys like I did never forget the the best music of our time!! R.i.p. Adam y.!!
Was a masterpiece long before GOTG3. I still have the CD, one of the best.
This song is amazing, it never gets old🤫
I absolutely hated this music when it arrived in my youth. It's aged much better than I expected it would!
33 years later and we’re still rocking this party...
