    Thanks so very much. I'm 68, been crocheting since a child and those little hole gaps at the end of a row have driven me nuts for years. How simple you have made it. I'm OCD about some things so now I'll be a very HAPPY CROCHETER!!! lol I know u call the stitch a treble, but in the U.S., it's a Double Crochet. You may want to mention that to help a beginner in the U.S. so she or he doesn't get confused. I only found out a couple years ago when discovering YT that Britain calls the stitch a treble, yet America knows it as a double crochet. You did a great job, so simple, easy to follow and I'll be trying it tonight. The other 2 videos I watched were more work & more stitches, plus confusing. So I'm THUMBS UP on yours!!!! Thank you.

    This helps a ton! thank you! I was dropping a stitch every row last night and I have no idea where since I wasn't ignoring the turning chain, but found trying to crochet into the turning chains a real pain. Figuring out where to put your hook is one of the hardest parts of crochet. I already found the tip for doing a full crochet instead of a turning chain, but I'll also try this method with marking the last stitch during my practice this week. It's a great idea. Thank you!

    When I was younger they use to offer knitting/crocheting classes about anywhere you lived but now that I'm interested they seem to no longer exist unless you want to pay upwards of $30 a class that only lasts for an hour, smhs. I just want to do an exceptional maybe not perfect job on my projects. I believe this will help. I'm working on a scarf with attached mittens for my granddaughters that are 40 chains. I count every stitch with each passing level I do. I have torn this one down so many times it ain't funny. I didn't even know to do a turning chain until tonight, smhs. Ty for your help. God bless you

    Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video for all of us. This is so much easier than the other way where you have to pull up a long loop which takes forever and you lose the yarn when you try to twist it and all the other things you have to do just to make the beginning stitch. This makes the work much easier, more flexible and time-saving by a whole lot. I've been crocheting for years, and this just made my work so much easier. Thanks again.

    I forgot to add a TIP so no one has to buy stitch markers. I save & use the square plastic closures on the end of a loaf of bread (which are different colors depending on expiration date) which show the expiration date of the bread or bakery item. They work perfect if you're not overly rough when handling your work or putting it away, then picking back up to start again. Now I'm in the USA, so not sure if Britain has those on the end of a loaf of bread, bagels or various bakery items. Good luck and happy crocheting everyone! Happy New Year 2020 also. Blessings to all, L :)

    I use small gold safety pins as stitch markers. They work great and you can stitch over them if you forgot to remove them and they don’t fall out like some stitch markers.

    I think I finally understand how to use these stitch markers thanks to your tutorial, so thank you very much. I always thought with double crochet (US), you chained 3 to turn. I've just started chaining 1 and I think it will make it easier to see the first stitch since it is actually a real stitch now.

    Hi Lexie I sure hope you can help me with a problem I have. Not necessarily with keeping the ends straight it’s more to do with crocheting in the round. I’ve just finished a little girls dress and you slip stitch at the end of the round then chain up 2 or 3 stitches to start the next round, whether that chain 2/3 counts as a new stitch or not, it leaves a line down the garment that veers off on an angle and is very annoying because depending on the colour of the yarn it can be quite visible. Hoping yourself or any one of your readers can help.

    • @Core10knee
      @Core10knee 4 года назад +1

      I don't know if you've learned or not, but I figured I'd answer in case anyone else has the same question. You'd put the stitch marker in the third chain. I find it easier to put yarn or a marker before finishing the chain. They are so fiddly especially if using a small gauge hook or yarn. So you'd lay yarn down or marker on the working yarn before pulling through. I personally don't like chain three's or fours (DC and ch 1) for starting rows and do alternative stitches like shown in the video but there are a few different ways to mitigate the gap from a ch 3 and keep edges straighter.

    Are you referring to these stitches as "trebles" ? These are double crochets and why are you chaining one for double crochet? This is so confusing. Every instruction I've ever seen for turning chains when doing double crochet tells you to chain three. Each person on you tube that does videos seems to be changing these "rules" and now I'm even more confused after all of the years that I've had trouble already.

    • @LexieLovesStitching
      @LexieLovesStitching  4 года назад +2

      Dolly Wilson because as I state in the video I use UK terms. They are UK trebles which are US doubles. By chaining one it gives you leverage to work a proper stitch into the very first stitch rather than chaining 3 then skipping the first stitch. This is what gives a neater edge.

    • @dollywilson3395
      @dollywilson3395 4 года назад

      Lexie Loves Stitching sorry I never heard that but I have since read that in the comments. Why does crocheting have to be so confusing? I would have to know whether the pattern was UK or US and also know about that difference, which I never knew till now. Thank you for your clarification. .

    • @LexieLovesStitching
      @LexieLovesStitching  4 года назад +2

      Dolly Wilson if it has “single crochet” in the pattern it is a US pattern. We don’t use that term in the UK. Your single is our double.
