- How to guide for a timing belt change on a 2005 to 2011 Holden Barina, Daewoo Kalos or Chevrolet Aveo (depending on where you are) with the 1.6L engine. I used a Dayco timing belt kit - KTBA186P. This includes a water pump in the kit which I recommend replacing. This pump has a dust shield which did not work on this engine, however I just cut it off, but you can order the kit with a water pump without the dust shield KTBA86P1.

These are cheap and cheerful cars and where sold in a few markets under different brands, here in Australia it was the Holden Barina, made by Daewoo and overall its a fairly ordinary car. Its old and irrelevant now but I'm sure theres still many people out there running around with these cars.

Awesome 👌
One of the better videos i've watched to take you through step by step.
Cheers Shane
Really appreciated
Really appreciate your comment. Thank you for watching and commenting
Great video mate. I found it very helpful. The fact they designed the engine with the plastic cover covering the water pump is so ridiculous. So much more work than it needs to be. Especially bad considering most people change the water pump with the belt and the belt intervals are every 60k on these engines!
Agree it’s the dumbest design idea around
Great video dude this should help heaps
Those stupid plastic idlers and cover
Would have been nice if it was designed so you didn't have to remove the camshaft pulleys and the back timing cover just to get the water pump out.
@@Shanes_Shed what was the steal plate for i didn't see
Dont worry its for the water pump
Was making a coffee at the same time haha
love it when viewers answer their own questions!
@@Shanes_Shed sitting at the fuel bay watching it then i was like ill just make a coffee haha
Great stuff
Thanks
Does the Holden Combo have the same engine?
I believe its a different engine from what I can gather.
Does anyone know if this is the same water pump kit that would fit the later Holden Barina 2012 TM model? Been told that there are 4 different water pumps. Thanks
Couldn't tell you exactly how many different styles of pump there are, but it wouldn't surprise me having so many different variation's.
that's a $250.00 job in Virginia USA
Costs more for just the new belt and tensioners here in Australia than that. And if your paying someone to do it add another $600 to the bill
Hey can you turbo one of these ?
Well you could turbo nearly anything. Although I fail to see why you would want to with these
