This is the best timing belt video for a Honda on the internet. I play it and listen every time I do one for a good chuckle
Great video man. Really enjoyable and informative. Wish I had your experience. I have an 01 accord with an F23a1 that has 280k miles and could use some attention to the leaking rear main seal and some likely leaks on the front side of the motor that are cost prohibitive to have a garage repair them. Nonetheless, videos such as yours help further the understanding of those that have no background in auto repair and a great place to learn.
This guy is a instructor 🤘🏼
Very good demo. Your patience and comedy make it seem easy.
Getting ready to head outside and get start had to come freshen up great video for diy people thank you for saving us money
Every Angle of the video is very reasonable, step by step, easy to understand!
😁

What an excellent, concise demonstration. I am subscribing to your channel and you are now the first one I will consult as I work on my own cars. Thank you
Thank you. You helped with my major concern of belt slack. Shop key pro data isn’t very clear about this. I’m very grateful for your help!
Great video. I'll be doing this on my sons car soon. You're right about the pitted metal under the water pump can leak. I've also rubbed some sealant on the pitted metal face that a gasket mounts up to, after it is clean.
You ain’t wrong about the water pump seal. I didn’t use rtv it leaked so I had to do the job over again 😅
Thanks for the video. You got me when you said turn counter clockwise and then you turned the crank clockwise
Good car, well built, great home mechanic, keep it running for 1/2 million miles and then more. Thanks for the vid.
Excellent, concise, accurate instuctional video, Ill be performing this operation soon on our 99 accord, looks fairly straightforward. Thanks for your time and experitse. Your replies to people's comments/questions is like tasty icing on a very well baked Holiday cake. Cheers HNY
How did the operation go?
Is this destructive in event the belt breaks while running?
This is one of the best instructional videos! I did this job in half the time with this video. Thank you!!!
Had one, she leaked from the valve cover, needed a VTEC solenoid and crank sensor… ran from 90k to 174k before I sold it, no issues at all after fixing them issues. Great first car
Your method of explaining procedures is very concise, complete and easily understandable. Have you ever considered teaching?
I just did.
I was referring to a more structured environment, like a trade school. Young people are really in need of mentors they can relate to.
@@frankamellin5577 school is for tools. It is time, and money waisted. Most of everything you will need to know is in the field. A lot of people don't have what it takes. A certain mindset is crucial. School will take your money, whether you have the aptitude, or not. A good mentor will know if you need to be doing something else.

Yeah, my 2000 Honda accord needs a transmission rebuild and a main engine rear seal replaced👍I have to pick my car up this Monday after a water pump replacement kit, same kit used here, was placed.

Since I got a weighted socket which I was skeptical about, I haven't had to use the special tool to loosen the crank pulley bolt. Great video.
Excellent tip. Never heard of this before, looks much easier.
@@brandonlee8400you need a air compressor gun with the socket , it’s simple with a decent air compressor and gun ; the socket you buy is a special socket especially designed for the Honda

Despite the leaks, that accord looks much better then some of the ones I’ve seen at least engine wise. Even has a factory alternator in it.
Seems like a good car.
Kudos! This is one of the best videos I've ever seen. BTW, what camera are you using and light and mic? Of course, technically you added in all the tips and tricks. Just a really well done how-to. I've only worked on d-blocks so these balance shafts and springs are new to me.

I learn so much on this video , thanks !
Thankyou for the video, you do a thorough job and I like that you sound like homer simpson!
Thank you, tomorrow i have to do my timing belt kit.
I have a 92 Honda Accord will this method work for it to it's a 2.2 as well and it looks basically the same as well
Sounds like a sports commentator. So well described that you almost don't need the video.
So intuiative video to learn. I have 2002 accord F23A4 with leaking oil in this clip and need the timing belt replaced. Did you find out where the leak come from? I was thinking of replacing all cam, crank, balance shaft seals. Would those seals stop leaking, any guess?
You should be able to see where it is leaking from.
I have a question or two do you cut the pointer off the bottom cover for the harmonic balance or because you seem to slip that cover right in there with no problem where mine was nearly breaking the cover to get it in. Second question did everything correct? Everything’s lined up perfectly balance shafts are perfect but I’m still getting a winding sound and some type of noise seems like it’s coming Through the valve cover like some sort of groaning sound. Could my belt be too tight.
I have no answers, and did what I did.
Just found this and subscribed. I'm in the process of doing this on my 98 Honda prelude, then may do my son in laws 2002 Honda accord se with a 2.3 liter engine. He bought it used for $4000 from a acura stealership with 143,000 miles. Cant find any record of the timing belt being done. No bueno. I'm 70 retired lineman diyer.
Oh by the way excellent video on the timing belt change
@@pirihern9329 thanks!
This is excellent video , great job , thanks for share
Appreciate the video!
Excellent Video! I am surprised that you did not mention the VTEC Control valve O-Ring seals. These are a known major source of oil leaks. My 99 Accord had the distributor o-ring oil leak along with a serious VTEC Seal leak. Cannot believe that you don't have more views and more subscribers. 5 Star Video!
I’m just wondering if the F22B2 engines are included with the same sizing? I just don’t know if the non-Vtec and Vtecs of the years stated have the same size belts
F22b2 and f22a1 are same.
I have to replace the timing chain and balance shaft chain on a 05 CRV. Do you have any tips for timing the balance shaft properly?
I do not. There are many videos, and information on k24, and k20 engines.
Great video thanks!
Nicely done
What do you use to clean out inside of timing cover and gears mine are completely covered in sludge
You must have an oil leak. Brake cleaner, or even soapy water
An outstanding tutorial video. I have a 99 Accord & removed harmonic balancer including keyway, now I can’t get keyway to get in all the way. What would you suggest?
Try harder?
@@RustBeltAuto I’ve tried, I put a light & gap is not deep, key goes in about 1/2 only.
@@rocalamole umm... isn't the other half for the balancer?
Thank you so much. Finally I got everything fixed. But when I turn car on the engine makes a clicking noise
I just put an identical AISIN kit from RockAuto onto a 2007 Accord. The kit really was excellent, at least as good as the OEM parts on it. To my surprise, the crank bolt was clearly a virgin, despite the fact there were over 200,000 km on the engine. Not a virgin after I was through with it, ha ha. Needed a 3/4 breaker bar with a long cheater pried against an extra jack stand, plus the $20 tool. High mass sockets don't fit into that tool, and a 3/4 air tool was a bust, literally.
You must have done a V-6.
do you know where i can find the rubber part that goes around that adjust bolt? Mine doesn’t have one and my serpentine belt is rubbing against the cover cause it isn’t staying stationary without that part. Thank you for the video it was extremely helpful
I do not. Might need to get creative, or call the dealer.

@@RustBeltAuto Is it 100% necessary to take off the valve cover in order to remove the top timing belt cover? Thank you for your kind response.
@John Ferrari some people cheat, loosten the bolts, and lift it up enough to sneak it out, but it might leak if you do.

What does a job like that cost? I have a 96 Accord ex that stopped running. It has 257k miles and timing belt was last replaced at 180k. It's there a quick way to check if the timing belt is the issue? Thanks
Remove valve cover, timing cover, and check it. A lot of times the problem is a bad distributor too.
I was behind your car in a McDonald’s drive thru and saw your RUclips sticker lol
Fun. It wasn't me though.
Are these motors an interference motor , because my timing belt broke will I likely have a bent valve or something?

If I turn the crank to the left, which is counter clockwise by the way, it pops as it comes over the cam pulley. That's why I think I'm going backward.
It's probably too loose. Did it jump a tooth?
Your voice sounds like chronist reporter from the sport News
Ain't the engine damaged if thr timing belt broke like the valves and pistons ?
If you are not lucky, they hit.
I think that this model is non-interference engine
All Honda engines are interference engines
does the timing belt have to be tdc to line up the balance belt
Ya

Will the 2002 Honda Accord bend the valves when the timing
belt breaks?
Sometimes.
@@RustBeltAuto is there a way to tell
@@toniortiz819 you can do a leakdown test, and be careful not bending valves when you do it. Most people toss a belt on, and see what happens.

Did you have a skip from bent valves ? I know this is an interference engine
This car didn't bend any valves. The belt did not break.
What happens it your off on timing or value mark's and you try to start it.
Will it damage the engine. I'm looking at 1 the guy said he changed the belt and water pump but it won't start and thinks the timing or value mark's are off.

What would happen if the oil pump one was off some? now it has a wine like a bad bearing sound in that area
It is a balance shaft. The oil pump is behind the crank sprocket. Your belt may be too tight or something else.

Ooh. Those are both balance shafts. You will not damage anything if they are out of time. It can cause a vibration. I have not ever heard of those making noise before.
