Just throwing it out there, DX9’s hand also have a separate trigger finger from the rest of the fingers, it doesn’t straighten, but for trigger discipline when holding a gun, I’d argue that gives DX9 a slight edge on hand articulation.
Also, for me, I find the unmatched reds distract me from the display presence of warthog, but I can see that just having him stood on your shelf in a pose you like would be grand
Am I the only one that transforms its feet the other way? If you do the "proper" foot transformation DX9 has better articulation there and stands a lot better. I do like the FT aesthetic here a bit better, but everything else about the DX9 smokes FT on this one.
Totally agreed Bobby... FT is at an Identity Crisis. PG, WP, Jazz are MP...while Huffer, Brawn, CJ are toon toon. They look awkward in Alt mode when displayed together.
All the points were fair and agreeable. This was an interesting verses to see broken down. Personally I'm happy with the DX9 even if I was given the Fans Toys.
I've had mine for years, love the figure. I've never looked at it and thought I wish someone would make a better Powerglide. As soon as I unboxed it I knew it was the 1st and last MP Powerglide I'd ever own.
Little late to the party, but I do have some suggestions. I think you really should address the alt mode in a few more categories. You mentioned it for accuracy, but I think presence, gimmicks/articulation (landing gear, wheels/treads rolling, etc), paint where applicable. Case by case situation really. But you're the one making the vids so do whatever you feel best.
I skipped the Warthog the minute i saw the coloured images of it. I knew right then even if there were more diecast and a brighter paint apps given their usual standards. I knew it wouldnt replace DX9's version completely. As much as i like the plane/alt mode which is truly more realistic as a real plane, it is not what i would prefer as a toy as im going for toon accuracy. Im happy with my current richtofen and until then, it shall stay in my collection standing next to his comrades proudly.
I don’t think it’s unfair for people to criticise/comment on your lack of daintiness when it comes to these figures. You’re right though that it’s part of what you’re about, and there is an argument they should be made better, but I think it’s an unwritten rule that these are delicate figures regarding paint and tolerances. So when you break or scratch one, odds are this is likely not an issue others would have, and that’s likely the point they are trying to convey/what makes them comment. It isn’t like you break every figure though, and when it does happen, it can be due to a widespread issue of poor figure quality, so it does take time for people to understand your handling can cause breakages/damage, and that you’re aware of it
You'll probably call me nieghger, Bobby. But I thought that was a perfectly nuanced comparison, and I wholeheartedly agree. And even though I haven't got big manly hands, I do work with them when I'm not slacking off. Normaltrash, right?! It’s not even because I try to slack off as much as I can that I haven’t got real man's hands. It's because I’m an untermensh. Anyway, your comment about shelf presence gave me that little push to maybe still want Warthog after all. The thing is, he'll probably just stay in alt mode on my shelf all the time.
I 100% understand your point of view for picking the Fanstoys. It comes down to what you personally value. I prefer the DX9 due to the ability for it accomplish a better transformation. I prefer that my display pieces be able transform without me hating them. You prefer to display them, and display them extremely well. For the people that may be butt hurt in the comments, If someone prefers one figure over the other, it doesn't take way from the figure you like.
From the technical aspects, articulation does go to Dx9. However I can get FT in better poses (although frustratingly), so I’d give articulation to FT. Which then ties them out as a whole. Which solidifies my opinion of not being able to figure out which one I like more. Hahaha
I was watching this going, "the DX9 is such a better figure, but wow the FansToys looks great" lol. I don't have either and probably won't, but yeah, I completely get where Mr. Skull lands on this. I kind of want the FansToys just for the alt mode - looking at it made me realize that I don't think we've ever had any figure, official otherwise, that makes a proper A10 Warthog, and damn I want one.
Shout out to the emotional driven Fanboys of Fanstoys. I got the KO of DX9 Richthoven, ist crap but for 25 USD ist the best there is....@Bobby i love your new method... and we still know. Fanstoys had their best Jobs with Decepticons, X Transbots with Autobots. KFC with the Junkions and Fans Hobby with Powermasters & Super-God Masterforce. Zeta with BIG Bots. Takara got the best Transfomers in kind of a modelkit way.....Gigapower, Deformation Space Transform Element, MMC, Maketoys and DX9 are Special in a Kind but its Missing ab it the Special Spiritsauce to me. Great Job Bobby thx
I love how harsh you are with your review. They want us to part with our hard-earn money for “meh”? No way. And you said, “Edging each other out! 😆” I’m a total perv! 😅
I don't know which way is "correct" but my DX9 feet are transformed completely different than yours. More articulation, stands better, and looks better imo. As for the vs, transformation alone gives DX9 the win to me. It would've taken a lot to beat out DX9 on this figure, and Fanstoys didn't deliver.
I personally like that you kind of manhandle your transformations, as you said, accentuates the durability and construction on the figures, sometimes resulting in paint scraping or a broken tab on the poorer quality figs. To me, it's also telling of the engineering on some of these Transformers. If you have to use some elbow grease to turn a flap or snap a tab into place, then it's not very well engineered. Transforming a fig should not feel like a chore or something you'd never want to do again.
I have to agree for display FT. For Playing DX9. FT has to many places that can cause frustration when transforming. Also the DX9 comes closer to the Chibi toy look of the 80's imo.
I've seen such weird comments about how people are either too critical of FT or not critical enough. That's you in a nutshell, Bobby, you're just too tough/too easy on Fans Toys. And seriously, sure I don't weight every comparison category the same, that's fine. That's the point. If you don't care about one factor it out. These VS are always helpful and informative to me,no matter which I personally prefer.
DX9 version is hard to get nowadays. I’d recommend if you want one the AOD KO of Richthofen is great and for practically pennies comparatively. I wouldn’t normally recommend a KO but because Richthofen is OOP I think that’s safe.
Thought that he was supposed to be the same height as warpath but maybe warpath is too big too. And facts I like all the new taktom stuff a lot more than you but you’re never wrong about it😂
I think we can all agree FT looks way better, shinny red paint pearly white limbs, beautiful blue eyes and Nightmarish transformation only a mother would love (probably not) and DX9 is just a solid piece, old but reliable (like bobbys civic, yes a nerd rage listener hear).
Could you maybe show the transformer from the cartoon and maybe show the original toy also. Every time you do one of these videos, I have to go back and look all that up..... never mind.... maybe I should wait until I watch the entire video before I comment....lol....my bad.
“I have a man’s hands and I transform things like a man!” Yeah Bob, I work with my hands spinning wrenches 50 hours a week too and I don’t break things. You are careless
Seems very fair to me. Never listen to the haters they're just gonna hate. Except the Time Haters, you always have to listen to them LMAO. RIP Charlie Murphy :(
Perfect review... they both have their issues and pluses and you outlined them all! FT looks good, but the wings completely cover the face side view, and he is a bit too tall in bot mode :/ Which sucks because the color on the FT looks sweet ... if only I could shrink it 1/2 and inch. This is one of those ... if you display with just minis the FT looks better but with bigger bots ... the FT is just to big for me. Perhaps 1 of each ... oh joy my wallet loves me.
Good versus. This was an odd release by fanstoys. Of all the characters that we need powerglide just wasn't one of those, the DX9 several years on is just that good. Still options always good I suppose.
fan toys A-10 alt mode is impressive it is the best looking transformers aircraft i have seen , there is not-transformers transforming aircraft-robots better than this, but compared to starscream and the like, it is fantastic
Ok bobby. The only category i have a problem with is price. Ft never wins this and never will. Also. You get what you pay for. If a product is crap but cheap. Why should it win a category because a superior product is more expensive?
I’m at the same spot. I think the DX9 is a better overall figure, but I’m probably gonna get the FT to display and never transform it. It has better presentation but that transformation is just awful.
DX9 alt mode is toonish but also toyish. FansToys went realistic and while an A-10 is an awesome plane... when I think of alt-mode I also think of what it took to get there, and this transformation would make me want to throw this out a window. I do really like the color on the FT. DX9 gets a good look in both modes and the transformation isn't cancerous... and at the soul of Transformers, it's being able to get them between both modes enjoyably and without breaking something, so big points to them for that.
“Gentle lily pad hands” 🤣 DX9 looks more “correct” but FansToys looks cooler. And when materials are better, slam dunk. But to be fair, I’m not buying either one 😂. I just like watching Bobby compare figures.
During your articulation segment you placed the wrong label on the bots. The DX9 had the autobot insignia but the Fanstoys was clean chested. You may want to double check the scores.
I knew the simps would be out for this one lol. Uncle Bobby endurance test is 100% what I'm here for, if it holds up during a review here then I know it's solid.
In my opinion FT takes materials, sculpt (since neither is very accurate I like FT better), paint, scale (I can't understand your reasoning here Bobby, when compared to the scale chart you showed FT is clearly more accurate scale wise), transformation (it's not only about fun but end results for me and FT gets it better in both modes), alt mode and presence. DX9 takes accessories, build, articulation and price. They tie in all the remaining categories so it's FT-7 to DX9-4. Thanks for the comparison Mr. Skullface. P.S. As for your opinion regarding Takara and FT I'm very sorry but I don't agree with either one. Takara has been doing a wonderful job (except for the prices) and FT too (the prices are also way to high) even though I can't talk about this figure until I actually have it in hand. P.S.1. Everybody complained like crazy about FT Cliffjumper and FT Jazz and I think they're both great TF action figures.
Dx9 all the way!!! Fanstoys blew this up..
Agreed. Dx9 underrated af imo
I'm keeping my DX9 and I'm perfectly happy with it.
Just throwing it out there, DX9’s hand also have a separate trigger finger from the rest of the fingers, it doesn’t straighten, but for trigger discipline when holding a gun, I’d argue that gives DX9 a slight edge on hand articulation.

Your honesty and integrity are always appreciated. Keep it up, dude. 👍
I think Warthog has a nicer jet mode, but I think DX9’s bot mode looks phenomenally better. I think a lot of it is in the feet.
Excellent video as ever. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for always telling it like it is Bobby, even if we’re not ready to hear it yet!
The DX9 power glide was so popular it got KOd.
Side view of the FEEEET on FansToys instantly made me think of the animal or character slippers that kids wear and some adults lol.
Pretty spot on with this review.
👍
As a person with a gorilla grip I appreciate your transformations.
Fantastic comparison. Couldn’t agree more. The only difference is, this may be the first FT figure I display in alt mode. I love that alt mode.
Bobby, I enjoy your transformations, because if you dont break it, I know I wont break it.
Saw it coming. Since i do mess with mine i expect dx9 will end up winning out for me when my FT arrives next week.
Just picked up the dx9 a month ago for $40. I couldn't be hsppier
I've had mine for years, love the figure. I've never looked at it and thought I wish someone would make a better Powerglide. As soon as I unboxed it I knew it was the 1st and last MP Powerglide I'd ever own.
I own a dx9 KO. 25 bucks.
Its decent. I like it. No need for another mp powerglide
Great review! Keeping my DX-9 and will pass FT on this one
I might still get the FT if the price drops a bit, purely for display. But I'm quite happy with my DX9.
Yay underdog! Nobody has said Bobby missed DX9's Astoria minifig btw
Little late to the party, but I do have some suggestions. I think you really should address the alt mode in a few more categories. But you're the one making the vids so do whatever you feel best.
Damn, I was hoping you were going to say the DX9 sucks and every one should buy FT so I could snag a DX9 on the cheap. 😂
There have been KO's for 25 bucks for years. Aliexpress.
I skipped the Warthog the minute i saw the coloured images of it. I knew right then even if there were more diecast and a brighter paint apps given their usual standards. Man your kids grew so fast. I thought your oldest was your wife's voice for a moment ( even though you said she was at work).

I totally agree with a blend between what it looks like in the cartoon vs. real life.
Bobby funny wit them Sausage fingers keep keeping
You mean to say FT can’t even beat a 6 year old figure?
Oh yeah, I saw this one coming.
You'll probably call me nieghger, Bobby. But I thought that was a perfectly nuanced comparison, and I wholeheartedly agree. And even though I haven't got big manly hands, I do work with them when I'm not slacking off.

Gimmicks-wise, the fanstoys has the opening cockpit and you can put a figure in there, as seen on TMReviews's video
So sit down Saturdays are only on patreon now?
Have been all year
@MythsAndHeroes well I guess that explains why I haven't see them in a year. Oh well is what it is I guess
ruclips.net/video/AJLEu00qn74/видео.html here’s where you can find out all the changes and why
@@MythsAndHeroes thanks kindly!

DX9 wins versus + I'm too cheap to pay 140$ for an MP scaled Powerglide....
Thanks for validating my purchase Bobby "hates Fanstoys" Face......
Could you maybe show the transformer from the cartoon and maybe show the original toy also. Every time you do one of these videos, I have to go back and look all that up..... never mind.... maybe I should wait until I watch the entire video before I comment....lol....my bad.
Who's gonna tell Bobby what Heart-Shpaed Box actually refers to?
Ordered mine on Thursday. I hope it turns out better than what I seen in Bobby’s Warthog review video.
Wish there was a DX9 with a FT paint job. This was a big miss by FT.
“I have a man’s hands and I transform things like a man!”
Yeah Bob, I work with my hands spinning wrenches 50 hours a week too and I don’t break things.
You are careless
Seems very fair to me. Never listen to the haters they're just gonna hate. Except the Time Haters, you always have to listen to them LMAO. RIP Charlie Murphy :(
Fanstoys feet kill me, dx9 feet are better. The only thing wrong with dx9 are the heels. Outside of that dx9 looks better
Perfect review... they both have their issues and pluses and you outlined them all!

I love fans toys but this plane mode is not cartoon accurate I’m so confused
Good morning kids

It's trivial but the side profiles of the faces are totally different -FT has a much more defined silhouette and the DX9 is obscured by the helmet.
You’re a villain or you live long enough to be the hero.
