From 5.3 onward, it is nothing but suffering. Well, there is kinda a sweet spot at at 10.0 in RB bc the awesome strike craft lineup and great scout vehicles. But otherwise, it's just pain. Tanks get worse but planes get better.
The Pershing is a wonderful tank, historically it had limited deployment in WW2. But it did had a very prominent encounter with a big cat. But it's mainly remembered as an early Cold War tank. Still a badass tank.
The only reason it survived was the German Panther crew was confused because it was new and thought it was a German heavy tank from their interview afterwards. The Pershing’s did reasonably well leading attacks but were consistently taken out as they weren’t heavily armored and had poor mobility but the gun was superior. Check out the book if you haven’t

Commenting about time stamp 6:50… Alright let’s get one thing straight here. The move that has made the super and now the E5 Pershing’s nearly invulnerable to German fire is known as the “Freedom Wiggle.” It is an enormous part of our playstyle and is vital for survival.
I found your channel today by the old spitfire guide and holy shit im surprised by how much your production quality went up since you switched to this format. I now watched all of your new videos not even as a guide but more as an interesting and enjoyable way to spend my 3am. Keep up the great work!
As a "new" player i just picked up the Super Pershing and T26E5, and wow these are some really fun tanks (even when stock for some reason). I skipped out on the M26 Pershing but with how badass these tanks feel, im totally gonna get it soon
The problem I have with the Pershing is it's completely unwarranted neutered penetration compared to its real life counterpart. T33 AP out of the 90mm Cannon M3 could penetrate a Panther's frontal upper glacis at about 1-1.5km reliably...in game it can't do so at all unless you're in sneezing distance and even then it has almost a 2/3 chance of bouncing for some ungodly reason. If you ever wondered why the Super Pershing's gun felt so good it's ironically because it performs more like the standard Pershing's gun would historically (barring the reload)...while neutering its own penetration in comparison to it's own real life counterpart which proved in testing that it could penetrate equivalent armor to the Tiger 2's upper glacis reliably within 650m...in game it can't do this at all no matter what ammunition you load.
Only T33 round has underwhelming performance. M82 in the game has about 5-10mm more pen compared to real life it actually should be on par with Tiger I’s Pzgr 39.
technically at they were heavy tanks when first introduced. They were reclassed as medium tanks in the late 40s/50s. They could easily destroy Panthers and T34s unlike in the game
Easily destroy a Panther?Lol in Cologne Panther that got destroyed was destroyed from it's side armor.A well made Panther frontal armor is also impenetrable to APHE fired by M26 from farther than 200m.You definitely needed a T33 round for to destroy a Panther reliably from the front which was rarer than AP and APHE which would've shatter most of the time in regular conditions. On the other hand Panther also could easily penetrate cast 4 inch frontal armor of M26 from 500m with it's Pzgr 39/42. I totally agree about T-34 but it's pretty easy to destroy these even in War Thunder. Lastly, there is no point in classfying M26 as a heavy tank since i don't you realized but it's 3 tons lighter than a Panther and it's physically smaller too.Panther is way taller, slightly longer, has a longer gun etc.
If you play the Pershing like a Sherman, things get funny really quickly, panthers and tigers panicking after you bounced their shot is one of the funniest things, they either try to run away against a tank that has higher top speed or they just accept their fate. It is also funny now Pershing’s got the M82 buff (still waiting for T33 buff where it can pen like 210mm and smoke panthers ufp from the battlefield equivalent of curry range) where it can pen panthers ufp which adds to the fun
For anyone who's not savvy. The Pershings do have great hull armour but watch out for IS 2s, IS 3s and anything with a 122. The 122 can cut through the armour of most American heavy tank even when angled without breaking a sweat, and of course IS 3s armour is really good.
I feel like the Not so super and Super Pershing suffer from 1 thing, FUCKING UPTIERS They do not do well in uptiers and, idk if it's just my shitty match making, but I get them *exclusively* in these things. Taking a few HE rounds are very handy and you can't convince me it isn't😂. Whether it'd be sniping an SPAA or mainly to over pressure a light TD which you'd rather not attempt to bounce to get your own shot in.
Ngl i tried out the Pershing and i had a third revelation because it has been so long since I felt like an actual tank bouncing shots. First was 75 mm shermans, second was the 75 mm jumbo
man i wish i had your luck. got the m26 in early 2019. never bounced one shell. this thing has the same survivability as a sherman and it hurts to keep playing that way
Same here, I see it as just the equivalent as a 76mm Sherman at 5.3-5.7; armor enough to take a few shots, gun only truly reliable on flanks, and mobility to get where you need to go, but not quickly.
For dealing with a King Tiger late model, it’s as easy as using APCR through the turret face to kill the commander and gunner. Then, shoot the loader (who’s on the other side of the gun). When the gunner is back, shoot him again and you’ll get the crew K.O.
I have found that throwing a bunch of jerry cans around and infront of the machine gun port on the frontplate makes a Huge difference in survivability. just cover the maching gun port on the front plate from all angles and you're good
I like M26 it’s a nice tank but honestly it feels kinda outclassed at 6.3.Germany has things equivelant to it at 5.7.Panthers when they’re played by halfway decent players are always a pain in the ass to deal with.Tiger IIs well if you get screwed by Tiger II P’s trolly turret you’re pretty much dead, not even talking about Tiger II H always try to avoid a direct engagement with it.

The T26E5 is the best. its the only American tank thats consistently fun to play, actually fun to play. its such a weird feeling surviving being hit. sure its gun isnt the best or even really good.. but the things you do pen get nuked by M82, and then theirs the awful mobility. but its STILL fun despite that.
