Chance Vaught: *designs a narrow fuselage cross section to reduce drag and moves intakes to the wing roots*
SpaceCat: "IT'S FAT"
Granted, the airframe is 14,000 pounds...
Still less than the p47
Ptatt & Whitney: "NOW SHOVE THIS FAT 2000+ HP TWIN ROW RADIAL ENGINE DOWN HIS THROAT!"
Corsair's fat ass would make for a perfectly competent sail if you strap it to a mast though

Fun fact, the real Corsair had an “air brake” setting for the landing gear where they would only deploy about 1/2 way from what was required to land. Just enough to get that flat cover surface out to slow the plane.
That feature would deploy only the two front wheels because those two where built different 💯, but not the tailwheel because it would get ripped at speed like normal
Yeah only the front 2 gear would extend and the rear would stay inside.
Earlier A models had manual landing gear hand controls for the pilot to hand crank the knob down to lower the landing gear. During engagements in the Pacific they'd crack that knob down a bit to have the landing gear cowlings fall into the slipstream to create just enough drag to allow for better maneuvering against the more nimble Japanese planes. Later in the war the later models had more robust landing gear suited for the harsher conditions of carrier takeoffs. Then the dive brake controls allowed for both front mains to deploy and act as dive brakes. War Thunder first modeled in the former on the A models but everyone complained about the borrowed text "airbrake deployed" coupled with "Corsairs aren't dive bombers" so they removed this feature. Stupidity at its finest.
@@Veehawk wow I didn't know all of that! Thanks for sharing, fun facts.
Alternate title:how to spread freedom navy style
Or Marines
The Navy kind of disliked how difficult it was to land a Corsair on an aircraft carrier because the nose of the plane was too long and mqde it difficult for pilots to keep eye contact with the deck (until the Brits developed a technique for it), so they gave most if not all Corsairs to the Marines. Until they too figured out how to land them on aircraft carriers.
The Corasir is mostly a Marine Corps fighter, so, if it be Navy Style, either Wildcat(early war) or Hellcat(more famed and mre sensible)
How to force Democracy upon unwilling countries. =)
@@rafaelgoncalvesdias7459 TFW Japan did the same during the production years of the Corsair
@@rafaelgoncalvesdias7459 without democracy.. mostly imperialism. MURDER TOO
Gear as air breaks. Sigma energy right there.
My favorite series of aircraft to fly in game. Great characteristics, good armament for all models, and pretty tough as well. It’s everything you want in a fighter, and im proud to say im a dedicated Corsair pilot
I remember back in 2015-16, It always got shot on my tail rendering the plane useless. I'm happy that doesn't happen anymore
It’s literally the best fighter in game for its BR
As a P51 main (esp. P51H) I salute ya brotha

@@randypipper92 literally the only thing that happens to me nowadays
Holy shit he actually uploaded
Okay as an added tip . Corsairs have 8 mins of usable WEP. So keep this in mind when flying them . Reserve 4 mins for climb so that you have 4 mins to use in critical situations when you not only need that power but also need your engines to be as cool as possible.
and don't use WEP b/w 2-3 Km, it's not that useful at the altitude, save it for later.
Wait whats usable wep?
@@epicexcalibur6445 some planes can only wep for a limited amount of time
@@sherlocksinha2435 until?
@@epicexcalibur6445 you run out of it and it can't wep anymore
"Absolute boat of an airframe" Are we talking about the same plane?
Compared with it's adversaries it is much bigger, and it doesn't have great power to weight ratio unless you are the 4B below 2km.
@@juanordonezgalban2278 We are talking about airframe not the engine (which is not underpowered by any means). Airframe makes it one of the fastest planes for it's BR in level flight as well as dive speeds. High speed control is also remarkable. It turns pretty well too.
@@WigglyWings It still has a high dry weight
@@juanordonezgalban2278 Still has very good turn/roll, high speed control and high max speed.
If you want to have fun with the cannon corsairs you can remove the gun upgrade and load stealth belts so you have auto shotguns and the enemy can’t see your fire. People will head on you and get clapped.
AN/M3s are my favourite gun in game

3:33 I'm gonna be nit-picky here. TAS is the actual airspeed, not in relation to ground. It is how fast the air actually moves relative to the aircraft. IAS will decrease with altitude due to the density of the air decreasing and therefore causing a reduction of dynamic pressure (dynamic pressure = 0.5*density*true airspeed^2) which the aircraft is subject to. IAS is calibrated to sea level conditions, hence at sea level under normal conditions your IAS should be identical to your TAS.
The 1D is literally my best American plane for the K/D... Almost 190 kills and 33 Deaths.
for me its the F9F-5 panther
Lucky man for me it's my worst performing
@@aregulargenericname8794 i had an awful spading process with it but after that it becomed my fav American aircraft together with the mustang, they have such amazing capabilities as well as most of the other American planes like the P-38s
@@Atlas_M yeah almost every single us plane has a shiet stock grind
@@Atlas_M yes! usually most new planes i can spade easily whihin the 10 free games. just got f4u 1. cant do it....wings keep getting blown off
3:39 Well yes, but no.
GS (Ground Speed) = Speed relative to the ground
TAS (True Air Speed) = Speed relative to the air
IAS (Indicated Air Speed) = Speed as indicated by the airspeed indicator. Planes use a pitot tube to measure air speed. As the plane climbs, the air becomes less dense and the dynamic pressure inside the pitot tube will become smaller even if the plane is flying at a constant true air speed. This is actually a good thing, because (as you mention) this means that you get a better indicator of how the plane will handle. In other words, the plane will handle the same at 300 knots IAS whether that's at sea level or at 20,000 ft. In the former case, TAS will also be 300 knots. In the latter case the TAS will be about 400 knots.
CAS (Calibrated Air Speed) = IAS with a correction factor for instrument error.
The difference between GS and TAS is the wind - on a day with no wind they will be the same.
Which is represented as SPD in warthunder? GS or TAS?
@jayruoshan7174 It's been a while since I played war thunder but I believe it's TAS
@@SauerkrautIsGood thks good to know
You should keep this style of video it’s hella funny and stil informative
9:06 i actually recomend puting atleast 3 points on vitality first, just so your pilot doesnt get one shot from a single Random 7mm lucky shot, you will thank me later
Wow he legitimately *FLEXED* throughout this video
New SpaceCat vid :O
Honestly one of the funnies things I've seen. The whole "don't be fucking stupid, this is if your fucking stupid" bit literally had me dying! Keep it up!
The Quality on these videos just keeps getting better and better.
hello mr youtuber at what angle do I climb with my supercorsair since I can't find the sheet I forgot what it's called please helps
lemme help with that, climb at a 5 to 10 degree angle sideways or headfirst, when you get to 4500 meters, level off and abuse your speed
ah, now I can use my F2G-1 with ez
Best Corsair video out there. Informative and funny as well. Loved it!
You explained actual things without spamming some technical shit for a noob like me.
I was looking for this channel for 2 years! Thanks!!
You need more subs!
Are you gonna kick me if I SOMETIMES base bomb with the F2G1? I usually do that if there are no bombers
I like to load HVAR and chip a base's hp from 3 km away with the rockets
I was waiting a long time for this
I cant imagine how long this took by far the best guide ive ever seen great content man.
Man these old videos are pure gold for teaching u.
Thanks, I knew Corsair is a very good plane but just couldn't fly it. Pls do How to Typhoon next
I really like this content. And I think it's the 1st time I have seen The Face of the guy and not heard the automated voice instead. Only 1 word. Epic.
Exactly what I’ve been waiting for
These always make my day man lol. Keep it up!
Love the format of this video :)
This is the exact video I needed today
Personally, I prefer the universal belts on the MURICAN 50's, they use AP-I rounds rather than the basic AP ones, which means more bonfires to keep your opponents nice and cosy... Or painfully uncomfortable, you choose which.
Same, everyone I've watched tends to use Ground Attack or Tracer, but I actually looked at the belt composition and decided that Universal AP-I belts were probably the best. Now I just have to figure out what is the best convergence
@@danielcervantes7826 Personally, I use 600m convergence as a general rule of thumb, but I'll go lower if there are 7.62's on the wings
@@Flayrr872 I can't hit shit past 400 and I play on a laptop with a tiny screen so my convergence is usually set to 200/250

I would like to thank you for this simple explanation. I been doing good with the corsair lately.
Thx you for this excellent tutorial. It has really improved my skills with the corsair and I have had a lot of fun with this aircraft.
This video style is bussin
Ayy it's good to see another video, you have also encouraged me to stream myself from your streams. Ty space cat
I like this format. I hope to see more like this.
Ive been waiting for this
Love the plane for CAS and some dogfights.
Finally someone that does crew skills
Return of the king
Now this is epic, and quite informative
Fell in love with this plane because of its wing design and performance
It’s like watching The Shooting Range but cursed and funny
the intro is so good damn !
Been flying the F4U-4B into 10.0 matches its a good feeling when I manage to get a good number of kills with it against ppl with their fancy jets
Great video, good to see reviews like this again! Could you do one on the J21/A21's in the Swedish line? I've had a good time with them over the past few days.
Wow, that montage at the beginning was awesome, this is my first video i see from u, but u got a like and i have also subscribed. Nice job.
I rarely get people on my tail but when i do i usually die so yo yo maneuver really helps finally i know what to do
Intro was super dope
This helped me more with playing the bf 109 than bf 109 guides.
Also, I like that he put puns there.
this dude is like the general sam of war thunder, or if zetaris had a war thunder prodigy child with an ADHD’d monkey.
I love it. Subbed.
Great video! Definitely want to grind this plane
Finally something really usefull on WT.
Giving us high quality video as always I see
Ok honestly I just went into the Corsair to wing it, and it’s my best American plane. It’s so easy to play. Almost as easy as a spitfire
Just found your channel. The perfect guide master
We need more of these
Hey dude, you seem to be doing much better than a year ago. Good on ya.
Btw the quality has gone up massively over time
IAS: Speed indicated by your airspeed gauge. (Speed of air over the wings).
True Airspeed: Speed of the relative wind through which your plane is moving through.
IAS tells you when you are stalling and when you should worry about rip compression speeds. Use IAS for engagements!
"A weaponized Dodge Demon that can take off from a carrier."
Now hang on you might be on to something there...
THE OPENING MEGA EARGASM
He finally rembered his youtube password.
oh god i love ur humor
that fucking Corsair without the gull wings at 2:45 will keep me up for months
you should really do a series which are similar to the intros you do for these videos they are great!
He talked for five minutes and then started the combat with headons.
God I fuckin love this plane. Every single one of them is amazing.
Could you do a video about the zero? It’s pretty well know and I think it’ll make a good guide.
Speed is key.
But then the super Corsair moves in a straight line and almost goes mach 1
now there is a bouns point there
if you load ground target belt
this will allow you to either snipe thier pilot or set them on fire or even cripples them completely
works wonders aganist bombers as well
JUst unlocked the F4U. Thanks for the video
Me using a Corsair keyboard and headphones while flying a Corsair.
your mustache looks good as hell
Bloody Excellent!
corsair is either 1 of 2
1) Fighter go pew pew
2) be a real badass and bomb a base, then succesfully beat a 5v1
WOOOOOOOOO
Having a way to show both IAS and TAS are advantageous.
Think of an FPS game:
TAS is your overall ammo pool
IAS is the ammo in your magazine.
TAS is a Decent indicator of the TOTAL energy you have available, stacking with your IAS.
The higher your are, the higher your TAS, the faster you are, the higher your TAS.
Your IAS can affect your TAS, but if you can keep minimal energy loss and in fact carry more energy than your enemy. You have higher chances to win.
just found your channel i love it
Astonishing! I have a 1/18th scale Elite Force F4U Corsair model of this exact design. With the number 82 and with the exact same nose art: Daisy Jane.
I have the same one as well sitting next to me on a coffee table! :D
@@Veehawk A great model! I have it hanging under the ceiling, I don't have room for it on a table.

Idk why I seen this vid/channel so late but i subbed and like thx for the help
we finally meet brother SpaceCat
im a new sub but seriously, your old videos are funny as shit like the T 34
Thank you so much for how to Corsair
It’s probably gonna discuss you but I always play ground with my F4U-4 in my lineup and use it with hvar, this way i usually get around 2-3 ground kills
I would advise not to try to run from yaks if they have speed because the yak's are a jack of all trades master of none, but beware of being below 4000m because that's were they preform best.
currently watching this while climbing
Can it take off from a carrier?? Hell yeah.
Can it land on a carrier however...
Thank you, I love you
Everytime I fly this plane my tail gets blown to oblivion
