Instagram brought me here. Happy 20th Birthday #Chariot. Looking forward to seeing Gavin and company in Charleston, SC 8/11/23 at the Charleston Music Hall...Still a totally awesome song and message
0:26 For those wondering, yes, this is Matt Flynn from the band Maroon 5, but that was before he joined the band and replaced Ryan Dusick who at the time ended up suffering an injury while touring for the album Songs About Jane
Wow! Having just seen him perform live a week ago, it's so amazing to see where he started. A lot of things may have changed over the years, but one thing has always remained the same--his incredible talent. Love you Gavin!!!
i saw this, when it originally, aired. this perf. made me SUCH a fan, & i've never looked back since! gavin is such a Real Artist. he is a mixture of stevie wonder, freddie mercury, prince, quincy jones.. w. sprinkles of the group kansas. mind you, "this" gavin cd.; "chariot", can, literally, be played side to side. i haven't got his latest yet. still, i was so heartbroken to have heard that he was brutally, beaten, while, leaving an e. village bar; last yr.. so glad that he is fine now.. because the world DOES need musicians like just him. love you forever, gavin!!
Love this live performance. Get balance of vocals and background vocals. Also when the vocalist is an instrumentalist too, awesome talented combination
TheExanimatebylove his style has definitely evolved & matured but as someone who's followed him for the past 10 years I have to say I kinda miss the messy haired, rumpled, just rolled outta the laundry bin look he sported in the past...
oh dear Lord....I have been looking for this forever!!!....thank you ever so much for sharing!!....I love this man....He is so soulful and such as beautifully talented young man!!!....I
Even though I like "Sweeter" better, I'm impressed by this song as well. He has a great voice, style, and presentation, with that cross-over between jazz and rock. And, so far, all his videos have been fun to watch. I know that's he's already come a long way, from what others say, and it's obvious he's going a lot farther. Keep it up, Gavin!!!
He must have had singing lessons since then to deal with control and nerves. We all know how incredible of a singer he is but studio and live with a crowd is way different. Hes seriously one of my top favorite singers. But this barely sound like him. My husband was like "Are you watching xfactor or something?"
Mr. B it's probably because you're used to the timing of the original. If you've ever seen him live you'd notice he often mixes it up & sings songs a little different each time. They're never carbon copies of the album version. Probably because otherwise singing the same songs night after night would get really monotonous. I actually prefer it. If I wanted to listen to an exact copy of the original I could stay home & toss on his album/s 😉
Ryan Morrison I am definitely a fan of instruments. I guess you haven't see him live, in concert ever? I have seen him play on an acoustic, with his drummer coming up next to him drumming on a snare drum, or even just the side of the piano. As well as, Gavin just playing on his piano. Not to mention his vocals are out of this world. I just think that back then he was more raw. Now, he is more polished. And of course, he has to evolve with the style of the times style wise. It's only natural. If you're not a fan, you're not a fan. I do appreciate all opinions. But to say that he isn't an amazing musician now, I'm sorry, is crazy.

Can someone bring this jazzy soulful Gavin back please?

That drummerrrr is killing it. Damn.

That's what I'm thinking
young Jimmy Fallon drummer
Who was the host?
oo the days of trucker hats.. :)
Maroon 5's drummer!!
He's so cute
I think this was his first performance and he was probably a little nervous.
Matthew Flynn un drums?
I Think This Part Would've Sounded Better If Patrick Stump Was Singing With Gavin
I'm sorry I love this song but this performance doesn't come close to the level the studio version of the song is
you have no friends
Kat Leigh you wanna throw down kid
wow.. he sounds very different now. I'm a pretty big fan but some parts of that I cringed at his timing..lol

There's nothing wrong with this performance
it's Matt Flynn from maroon 5!!!!
maroon 5's drummer
He acted kinda cocky when he was younger
Jake Peden What? Are we talking about the same Gavin? He's always been so down to earth humble & genuine! Unlike any musician I've ever met!!!
Jake Peden How the hell is he being cocky?!
like any younger people?
Love these comment's 👏😂
I’ve met him a few times...been to several concerts. Always down to earth. Very sweet! Talks to you like he’s known you forever.
This is so cringy and staccato compared to other versions xD
What happened to this Gavin DeGraw? He's terrible now
Uh no he isn't !! You've heard Make A Move, Soldier, Brother, Need, You Got me, & Not Over You then!?! Omg. Those are priceless !! Perfect.
Jon Morrison are you listening to the same gavin degraw?
Errold Tumaque he's not what he used to be, he's gone pop
Ryan Morrison i don't kno who you're listening to now, but I think he's amazing now more than ever! He's so evolved and grown now.
Ryan Morrison
