Kh1 is surprisingly very robust in terms of preventing sequence breaks. An example that comes to mind is in the wonderland tea party room, if you enter it before fighting the cards and queen, which is impossible without glitches I think, there's a bush in front of the door with text specifically made for it telling it blocks the way.
I read that if you don't progress the Monstro story before fighting Riku-Ansem, then go back after beating him and do Monstro, all the cutscenes will change. Riku will still be there, but possessed by Ansem and behaving accordingly, with Sora calling him out on not "really" being Riku.
@@Leet-iz2fz Sort of. There are a few new lines but most of the changes are just removed segments of cutscenes so it's not that worth it. Another cool detail is that if you finish deep jungle before wonderland, snow white will be there instead of alice.
@@Laenthor I actually think the Snow White version of the cutscene is better, since you already know Alice has been kidnapped. Seeing Snow White for the first time, however, is more of a surprise.
I love how thoroughly the developers thought considered every possibility when designing this game. However, several years ago I came across one serious oversight. Not sure how well known it is, but I've never seen anyone else mention it before. Also I've only tried this on the original PS2 release of the game so I don't know if it's still in the new versions of the game. If you complete all of Neverland without ever hitting a save point, you will not be able to return to the ship at all. Your only destination option is the clock tower, and there's no way to return to the ship from there. The only fix for the problem is during the point of the game in which the Phantom boss fight becomes available, at which point you can't disembark directly at the clock tower and must manually go there from the ship. At this time you can now disembark at the ship, so thankfully the lockout is not permanent.
So you are only locked out between completing Neverland and completing hollow bastion 2? That's not that bad, unless you really want to do your synth grinding then I suppose.
Was just about to say! it's wild how they had things in place for situations like this, Even though players would never be able to perform some of these to see they took it into account anyway, I got to love their thoroughness
@@kinggamer19 Honestly this sounds less like something the devs took into account and more an unintentional fix to an oversight that never came up in testing.

I loved seeing how much detail was put into making sure things worked like they should. I don't know why entering the Chapel from a different entrance should matter at all from a programming standpoint , but they bothered to make sure anyway.
It’s almost frustrating how solid the games are, you really can’t skip anything major… except one thing. Apparently if you could clip into Ursula 2’s boss arena, it would be counted as having completed the world, which means ‘All Worlds’ would be faster. Normally you need Dolphin Kick, and if you don’t have it but still somehow got to the entrance, there’s an invisible wall. So a clip would have to be found.
Really good video! I remember spending many hours trying to find a skip for the big elevator to no avail, but it's still a cool skip we can use in the randomizer, since you can stack multiple High Jumps and Glides. Also huge respect for the PaRappa music at the end 👀

I tried a "no menu screen" challenge and the only time I had to pause was for equipping High Jump in Monstro to cross the gap in the mouth to fight Parasite Cage round 2.. The gap should be crossable with Dumbo, but you also need High Jump to get his summon gem. If anyone has an idea of how to skip that part, I would greatly appreciate it!
You can get Dumbo with regular jumping after beating the first Parasite Cage encounter. The layout of the platforms change enough that you can make your way up to him with ledge grabs. Very fun video! Actually, some of these skips are possible in Randomizer, because you can find multiple High-Jumps and Glides. My presumption about how the Maleficent Cutscene with the Grand Hall works is that when Maleficent is the next fight, a flag is set that activates "two" cutscenes One when you enter Chapel, which silently plants Sora in Grand Hall invisible to show the Grand Hall cutscene, which ends with a flag that says "Okay now put Sora in Chapel" and also updating the viewed cutscenes so that it doesn't replay every time you walk into the Chapel or Grand Hall The room, as you noted, doesn't actually update until after Dragon Mal, but this also explains why walking into Grand Hall starts that cutscene, and Sora becomes weirdly invisible

just for the record, people in kh1 randos use superglide or the high jump upgrades to skip the great crest area. so it really is feasible with a bit more height or speed
I just did some attempts at this and it looks like it's still a little too short, by about half Sora's height by my estimate. Great idea though! I hadn't thought to try that.
Little idea, but would it be possible to make one of the partners (like donald/goofy/beast) jump beneath sora to give him a boost in the air? I'm not sure if they would move him but if they can, doing it in a corner might increase the player's jump height
i feel like you could use the proposed Waterway skip route to skip needing to do the library puzzle maybe, but given the point is likely for speedruns I can understand why this would maybe be pointless
I wonder what would happen if you were able to poison Riku Ansem and exit the area as he's dying. If movement would be restricted the same frame he's knocked out then I wonder if there's any leeway in the game still registering DoT within a frame or so of exiting.
Many games from this era have proxy, a glitch where to prevent softlocking you due to overlapping collision, the game will throw you into the sky. does KH have proxy?
Personally for Final Fantasy XII the first one. All I would want them to do to make it a little bit better is give you more down time. More towns the ability to just loaf around and shop and grind levels in open areas earlier on in the game, it would have been nice to have some quest that were not only in Pulse like 13-2. I have beaten every ff game save for 11, 12, and 16. Almost done with 12. But 13 and 8 are my favorites despite the hate. I dream of remastered version of both with quality of life improvements and graphic upgrades.

the skips with potential if extra jump height could be acquired are actually useful in KH1 Rando.

Question: why does Sora shrink when riding Dumbo?
all this was gone in k2 :( no explore
Personally for Final Fantasy XII the first one. All I would want them to do to make it a little bit better is give you more down time. More towns the ability to just loaf around and shop and grind levels in open areas earlier on in the game, it would have been nice to have some quest that were not only in Pulse like 13-2. I have beaten every ff game save for 11, 12, and 16. Almost done with 12. But 13 and 8 are my favorites despite the hate. I dream of remastered version of both with quality of life improvements and graphic upgrades.
