- Bad games will never be faster than a speeding Super Nerd, as he reviews two bad video games based upon Superman, made for the Atari 2600 and NES. This is Angry Video Game Nerd Episode 50.
Since his print debut in 1938, Superman has become one of the most recognizable and beloved fictional characters of all time. It is inevitable that game companies would try to give players a Man of Steel simulation in some form.
Throughout the history of Superman games, balancing his near-invincibility with the need to provide a legitimate challenge has yielded peculiar results.
Here, the Nerd shows us two of the best-known Superman games (for the Atari 2600 and NES) to assess whether Krypton should be crapped on. He closes by teasing the next episode... one of his most-requested reviews of all time.

The Wiki says that Doom has won a GOTY award in 1995 (PS1 version) and Doom 3 also had one in 2004.
It probably was really cool for the time. Especially considering how simplistic Atari games were.

My guess is that the NES Superman game was another game that they just reskinned and changed a little bit and slapped the name Superman on it.

Let's be honest, there will never be a good SUPERMAN game, "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is a fighting game with Superman in it. But a good standalone will more than likely never see the light of day.

Sean Yap not even them could make a good Superman game. Minions woul have to do damage in game, but then woulndt have any comic sense and logic mere minions doing damage to Superman. In Batman objects can work as obstacles, a wall, a destroyed bridge, debris, mutant plant, elevated places... But with Superman: fuck all those obstacles. Superman is acceptable in a fighting game, not an adventure game.
Ps: In God of War games Kratos ended being all that powerful, so how the made logical that minions could hurt him? Taking away his strenght in GOW 2 and 3.

Superman has so many good stories in the comics. It's hard to understand why can't they make a good game. Many people wish they made an open world game for him, but I believe a God of War style would be perfect!

Well, then make him less powerful, like in the New 52 Action Comics series by Grant Morrison (1 to 18, awesome reading!). Also, they could just make bigger challenges, present you with new and creative ways to use his powers. I mean, with good game design it is possible.
