    🔎 About socials:
    If I tag socials, then this should be done for ALL players (without a single exception), and not just for one person. Socials of some players can not be found (players with default nicknames, some Asian players, etc). I am convinced that it's extremely dishonest to tag contacts of few people and not to tag all the rest, so there will be no social links in description.
    But I respect the players whose matches I post. Therefore, if you are sure that videos presented "as is" are not acceptable, I will stop posting content with your participation and remove the ones posted earlier.
    If you want to tag socials by yourself, feel free to post usernames in comment section (RUclips may remove links).

      Legit, I don't know what's the point of someone clicking onto a video and taking the time to say that a character in it is boring. Why click on it in the first place? You still showed enough interest to go into a video for its comment section, so clearly it's not entirely boring for you...

      @@MrAwesomeMattyThe core reasons usually include attention-seeking, the poster wanting to be heard or gather like-minded opinions/support, or just to air their grievances. @@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301At least with the "wanting to be heard" and "air out their grievances", I can understand to an extent, but then you have to be ready for disagreeing opinions or not give bad excuses as to why you're here, like shown below:
      "Haha, Asuka is so boring!"
      "Then don't watch it."
      "I watched because I like Slayer, fuck outta my replies."
      Then look up Slayer vids that don't include Asuka; boom, problem solved and without a 30+ reply thread clusterfuck being created, lol.

      @@MrAwesomeMattyI completely agree with you. Even more of a reason for them to heed the advice of the original poster of this thread. Moreover, Asuka and Chaos replays usually cause fights in this comment section, so the reply chain you saw is not at all uncommon.

    In the words of Gobou: *"Asuka currently has more disadvantaged characters (bad match-ups) than advantageous characters (good Match-ups), so I don't really care about this right now (who is favored in this match-up); we won't know for certain until someone stronger comes along."*
    This match-up is not looking like the 9:1 advantage for Asuka I was hoping for, but TY is still learning Slayer; players are continuing to figure out the match-up; and Chocoservant is not on Gobou's level, so... I will save my judgment for a later time.
    Regarding Slayer in its current state: In Asia, Slayer was always a popular character in the older GG titles and continues to be in GGST. Last week, there was a 5+ hour online Sunday 3on3 GGST team tournament - featuring some of Asia's strongest players, and a Slayer user whom I was not familiar with took the entire tournament - but the most concerning regarding this event, was that almost every team had a Slayer user in it - with Daru_I-No stating that Slayer is between A+ ~ S tier, I am not surprised in the slightest, who can really blame someone for wanting to use a strong, tournament-viable character...
    For those who dislike Slayer, TY using Slayer as their main will cause the character to get nerfed in no time - just as he did when using Giovanna. For those who like using Slayer, I would enjoy the time you have with easy access to huge amounts of damage before they possibly take some combo routes away, like they did with Chaos in an effort to balance it...
    My apologies about the long post...

      Do you believe that Asuka might finally have somewhat advantageous matchups in season 4, or do you think Gobou’s words will stand for the foreseeable future?

    • @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301
      @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 6 дней назад +5

      @@armedirishmanAsuka already has good match-ups against some of the cast, but the bad match-ups will not become any easier unless the toolkit of said character(s) are reworked/modified - which will not happen. That is to say, Asuka's bad match-ups counter his character archetype on a fundamental level; for this reason, even when Gobou stated that Asuka's character strength was between the top 3-5 ranks in season 2, characters like I-No, Sin, Axl, Faust, Bridget, and Chipp still had a significant advantage against Asuka due to their character archetype offsetting Asuka's - and I highly doubt ASW will ever allow Asuka to become as strong as in season 2 again - therefore, match-ups will only become harder from here on out.
      Furthermore, I absolutely can and do think for myself; but Gobou has intense knowledge of Asuka's character superlative to any other top Asuka player I have seen. With an issue as delicate as character match-ups - I feel completely unqualified to use personal experiences as justification for my stance - because they can only truly be defined at the highest level; and as the unparalleled, strongest Asuka user in the world - to me - Gobou's word in this regard is absolute. He has been playing Guilty Gear for about 18 years, and has never downplayed the character(s) he has used - so I trust his opinion above all other players who do happen to downplay Asuka, such as Zando...
      Equally important, in one of his past broadcasts, there was a discussion regarding why Faust has always been one of Asuka's harder match-ups; and Gobou broke it down very well, and explained in-detail the crux of what makes a character a bad match-up for Asuka - he appears to use Bayes's Rule when making his decision concerning a character match-up, so he may take longer to determine a good or bad match-up when compared to other top players. I can most definitely post what he said at a later time, because I found the information invaluable as an Asuka user myself.

      @@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 You’re very knowledgeable, thank you. I’m curious, which character has given your Asuka the most trouble in recent times and how do you overcome their tools?

    • @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301
      @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 5 дней назад +1

      @@armedirishmanWell, I am quite shy regarding my GGST gameplay, so this is a very tough question... but to answer your query:
      Characters that give me trouble are typically those I don't know the match-up for - or if the player is stronger than me; but a lack of MU experience can be especially bad against characters like Chaos - who can still zone Asuka season 1/2 style, due to the nerfs he received that slowed down the traveling speed of the cubes.
      Moreover, Axl is another character that comes to mind. When I first began playing Asuka, Axl was the bane of my existence - I would lose to Axl players even on the lower floors - due the difficulty of the match-up, and because of my own insufficient match-up experience. As a plan of action, I watched videos of various Asuka players and how they defended against Axl players - absolutely no offense to these talented players, but most NA Asuka players I watched suffered very similar fates as me - so they were not all that helpful... then I became fixated on how both Komekome and Gobou dealt with Axl users during matches. I noticed that he (Komekome) did not chase Axl players at all, and would treat the match-up similar to the Chaos match-up - with dash-blocks and very careful approaches; he also did not throw out any normal attacks on the slower side, like 5S, 5H, 2S, or hastily airdash while in neutral. Gobou utilized jD, many throws, and made sure each interaction led to an advantage for him.
      Given this information, I tried my best to emulate the defensive techniques demonstrated by Komekome; while also looking for player defensive, offensive, and attack patterns; and also taking to heart the advice of Gobou - which is, "Once you get in on Axl, you must ensure that you finish him off" - henceforth, I was able to become well-versed in the Asuka/Axl match-up, and I... was able to win even against a level 14,000+ Axl player... I got incredibly lucky throughout those matches, but I still consider that to be upward progress overall. I now no longer fear Axl players...
      Sorry for the long-winded post...

      @@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 Me personally, I am especially troubled against Slayer at the moment. I know I shouldn’t really be bringing up anecdotes however it’s the best way to convey my problems. I, myself am quite idiotic so I do have a bad habit of getting full of myself and not taking things seriously in winning situations. My interactions with Slayer tend to go relatively the same in the first round: I quickly enter a winning position and remain on guard for Mappa Hunch. Then, when the Slayer enters the lower regions of HP, I begin to get desperate and pompous. I had to learn the hard way that Slayer’s normals mop the floor with mine. And then in the blink of an eye, I lose my Mana Shield. We all know what happens. Losing the shield is always a horrifyingly violating and humiliating experience for every Asuka player, especially against a high-damage character like Slayer. I watch my HP evaporate and then get killed. I ended up winning our set 3-1, which is a decent margin. However, that first round has forever taught me to remain cautious against Slayer and has also certainly given me a necessary reality check.
      In regards to the Axl matchup, I never found it difficult. I’ve played Axl before so I know some key weaknesses. Komekome definitely deals with Axl extremely well and the matchup has helped me practice my patience against zoners.
      Chaos has definitely become a problem for me. Although the speed nerf seems something minor it hurt my chances against Chaos. It makes initiating offense against Chaos harder and much more irritating. As I’ve mentioned before, I am frankly a relatively bad and impatient player so I find myself crumbling against Chaos. I make rash decision and do predictable things that definitely cause me problems.
      Then there is Faust. Faust makes me feel intense agony and pain each time I see him. I thank lord most Faust players I encounter are either not very good at the Asuka matchup or occasionally make incompetent decisions, however the few that I meet that end up being competent completely decimate me. Not only do I barely have any knowledge of this character, he also entirely destroys the fundamentals of both Asuka and my gameplay. I really don’t know what else to say besides that against Faust giving up appears to be more productive than playing the game…
      To conclude, I have been getting better recently however until I do end up getting better against characters that are bad matchups for Asuka in general or just characters that I can’t counter due to my lackluster skill.

      Slayer’s only real advantage against asuka is his mappa hunch, which practically skips neutral. Otherwise though, he kind of gets locked in place so honestly it’s kind of even.

    • @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301
      @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 7 дней назад +8

      @wasureTy I am not sure if you are aware, but Slayer has some of the best normal attacks of any character to break the cubes. 6P > Mappa is very good for getting in past single-hit cubes, or for gaps in the Asuka player's pressure at close range; and 5K dissolves 3-hit cubes and can be canceled into Mappa to instantly get your turn as a Slayer user. Using just Mappa may work at first, but Asuka users will adapt to it, and these are some tactics Slayer players will use as countermeasures...
      Edit: Also, to the original poster: Gobou stated that Asuka has a disadvantaged match-up against over 1/2 of the cast.

      @@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 I am not Asuka player, but I think they should remove gatling and special cancel after destroying cubes. Approaching Asuka is still viable since normals with low attack level can destroy cubes now.

  • @armedirishman

    Despite Slayer having the tools to easily mow through Asuka’s health, this matchup in my opinion is actually fairly even from what I’ve seen. Slayer is at a disadvantage in the neutral game as he has no real effective specials in neutral against Asuka besides Mappa Hunch. Otherwise, Slayer gets put in a lockdown. However, I’m not undermining the strength of Mappa Hunch. If anything, I believe that Slayer managing to get in using it is fatal to Asuka especially if the ensuing string of hits ends up removing his mana. Slayer already does incomprehensible damage to most of the cast, a manaless Asuka is easy pickings.
    It’s a contest of which event can happen first: Slayer entirely skipping the neutral game or Asuka having good enough spells to just entirely lock down Slayer. However, I’d like to play against more Slayers myself while playing Asuka to decide whether the matchup is even, disadvantageous or advantageous for Asuka.
    I believe Slayer is definitely in the upper-echelon of characters and I frankly adore the way he moves and the overall visuals of his moves. However, he is definitely not breaching top 3 at the moment.
    All in all, amazing performance from both players. I believe Slayer might need balancing later on. I’ve seen players put in amazing performances with Slayer and TY has definitely done so here. I am interested to see how Slayer will interact with the rest of the roster and how newer characters will fair against the dandy vampire. Thank you for reading.

      "Besides Mappa Hunch" honestly doesn't matter when Mappa Hunch will beat out cubes just in general, 2H mops the floor with 2D, and Slayer has better normals. Slayer is also just a high damage character into a character who's very squishy and spends health to run pressure: Asuka either can't throw cubes in neutral (and thus can't get better hands) or gets caught by Mappa after spending mana, loses half his mana to the resulting combo, and then finds himself in a checkmate situation. In exchange for that he gets decent pressure (except he's just screwed when Slayer has 50 meter, as SMH is a guaranteed punish in response to spells if there's a gap (which there usually is, especially after speed nerfs)).

    Marvelous. Strive was a ridiculous piece of garbage from the start. No gameplay variability, gutted gameplan of many canonical classic characters of the series, who were simply unlucky due to the bias of the Arcsystems, and an absolute disregard for balance. Ridiculous game design decisions with inappropriately high damage and simply endless free pressure. Zato in seasons 1 and 2. Ridiculous auto-aim shooting gallery with HC on release and after that they give him the best mix-up potential in the game. Constant buffs to the gorillas in every patch, as if their pressure was so weak and they needed a wild assault...
    New character moves are just a piece of cake: Millia's new move is just another poorly converted melee poke. Not a single Millia player wanted this, but they didn't even ask character's audience what the character needed. As a result - no changes. The meta games are still the same several overbuffed gorillas, Nago with an unresponsive full-screen overhead, Sol with broken damage, Ky, May, GL, Pot, Slayer, ABA -gorilla characters that will destroy you in 2 touches.
    They are adding more and more gorillas to the game, with huge HP and Huge damage. There are so many gorilla characters in this game because the balance in Strive always works in the same direction.. You see how there is not a single top strong Millia player left either in world. During these 3 years, almost all the top best players in the world abandoned the character. Deplorable condition.
    Completely corrupt meta bloggers, LK and Leffen have touted this game as being extremely balanced, when they themselves are the best example of how unbalanced Strive is. You literally have no chance to win with character who is not in the meta. All the latest CEO, EVO, Combobreaker, Faustings, Arcrevo finals show the same characters and players... There is no competition for the rest of the roster and no representation. Strive is simply the worst thing in this series, and I can't believe that this will all end with on this.
    I'm waiting for the next useless comments: Skill issue, get a job, Hmm ugh, you're a fake. The fans of this game are just like this game: mediocre and ignorant.
