I can only imagine the undulations in the metal after hitting it with a high speed grinder and #60 grit. I looked at an older Ranger the other day, and the previous owner had "trimmed" the lower third and the box with a real course type of bedliner paint/covering. It had like a stone aggregate in it. Real easy to crush the aggregate and then the aggregate turned white. Looked awful in the box, but from a distance, the exterior "lower third" looked good. Photographed really well. You couldn't really tell what the material was until you got close. Problem is, you have to ask yourself what's hiding underneath all that black gunk "everywhere." Thanks for the video.
Coincidentally, I got a ranger that was coated with it. At first I only saw a single dent, but I keep finding small collections of small dents as I fight this crud off.
I have tried rust remover from O'Reilly's and it did nothing. I have found the flat disk 60 the best to remove rust from my 1964 F250. I got that from Harbor Freight along with the Hercules Grinder. The grinding disk was the same that you have in your video.
Flap discs don’t work, the only paint remover that kinda works is Aircraft Remover. I was able to use a friends 3500 PSI pressure washer & it came right off.
I appreciate it I did it to my truck but I just want a normal paint now, would you be able to email me the amount of supplies you used and the best branded paint stripper? Or would you recommend just grinding the whole thing
@@DrivenbyGears I’m also tempted to add a third coat because I rolled it on the first time. But idk yet. Plasti dip is niiice. How long it take to sand your truck?

Maybe try a heat gun or propane torch to soften it.I’m curious on those two methods cause I have my box rails to remove to pop out dents and repaint and reapply box liner
@@DrivenbyGears haha, hey thanks for replying on an old vid, I appreciate it. Just wondering if I should just paint over the bed liner or actually try and strip it

well done dude, really top work! iv bought a rx7 and the previous owner has sprayed it in bed liner, wish me luck
Heck yea its lot of work... I wish you lots of luck.
Who sprays a RX7 in bed liner 🤣
Utter crazy ain't it. Iv tried thinners and it's worked a little. Raptor. Rx7 on instagram if you wana check it out
Citrus stripper get it home depot works best wipe it on and walk away come back in 24 hr falls off
@@healeyross6516 Why spray any vehicle with bed liner
A handheld torch works really good and then use a scraper after it bubbles it up
Now you tell me haha
@@DrivenbyGears just did it today works great. It’s a 1995 single cab Chevy. Still thinking about what paint I want to do

Nice....
Thank you 🙏 bout to take off the bed liner off this Tahoe I bought
I used brake fluid to soften up the bedliner and hit it with a power washer most of it came right off. Flap disked the rest of it and was good to go.
thats a good idea dont think it would have worked on this even gasoline wouldnt work.
Lmao ...So how many bottles a break fluid do you need to do a whole truck then 20?. Just sell the piece of s*t
How long was your bed liner on before you removed it?
@@567Kriss about 4 years
@@blakejhonerme5018 used 1 big bottle of brake fluid.
That’s a lot of work great job!
Yea it was miserable
So it's not impossible! I always wondered.
Nope just a lot of work and mess
I really despise people that do this shit. Getting a 24 v cummins and the entire truck is bedlined. What a PITA
Looking good I'm doing a lot of work on my OBS so keep it.lotta time on our hands🍺👍
Yea now is the perfect time to do garage stuff that's 4 sure. Thanks 4 watching.

@@tylerpavlak8476 I've heard try diesel fuel and ammonia
@@tylerpavlak8476 stripper wouldn't work for me it was to strong, also I heard use a heat gun to it heat it up real good then can start scraping it.
I painted my f150 in bed liner and I kinda don’t like it anymore. Considering sanding it off and using plasti dip
Yea
It's cheaper and easier to just use a single stage paint

Over a month
The abrasive wheel work, but they get ate up QUICK
OMG thats a nightmare, And then all the new texture you made that will have to be sanded to match. You cant win LOL
Citrus stripper works the best
Nice
@builderbob26 how long does it take after you start with the scraper, if you were to guess how many hours
damn! sick video.
How long did it take to remove that first section ofd the side of the bed
The txt paint? It took awhile lot longer then I hoped for.

Man I wish maybe some heat and stripper might worked but the fumes would have killed me. I'm long done with that truck.
Did it ever work?

Hey, you've proved that bedliner is not perminent. Now all you have left to be the go to RUclips guy. Is bag the ole boy.
Haha I knew it was coming
Whats this song it is super relaxing work music
Its from RUclips music ill have to see the name.
I was thinking of putting rhino liner on my vehicle but I know down the line I might wanna remove it so I might just not do it😹
How are you
I'm good how about you John?
Driven By Gears doing ok

Big time
