Yeah, but would help a lot if Sandy was asked why the industry had to wait for Tesla to use 48 volts.
"Steers like a Mustang" Everyone in Europe laughs.
Europe rocks! Thanks for watching! 👍
And the hummer ev and Silverado ev have 4 wheel steering, but obv they don't have it according to munro...
@@sprockkets So do some versions of the Range Rover and Porsche 911
Why would they laugh? Do they have trucks that steers tighter than a mustang. He said “ steers like a mustang…tight” so I hear him comparing effective wheelbase radius of turn. I think you thought I performance cornering of a Mustang. Nope. He refers to the capability of it turning line. So no need to compair it to an obscure top corner performing suspension set up. He is smart to reference an American vehicle that’s extremely common for decades.
Wishing the Munro Family a Big Happy 35th Anniversary, Always look forward to your vlogs on what your thoughts on the EV future, Thank You so Much Sandy!!
Holy shit. Now we need 3 pick up trucks to serve all our needs. Cybertruck to go drag racing, Lightning to carry loads, Rivian to go off-road. This is true American way.
Old Volvo wagon can do it all.

And we need a pickup to go from o 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds why?

Ask why Tesla does not also build a regular pickup with the innovations of the CT.
Thanks for watching Steve! 🙌
@@JoshWest247none of the RUclips Tesla channels seem willing to ask challenging questions about Elon. Tesla has great engineering talent and achievements. And sales are dropping. Yet Tesla will not introduce models that consumers want. Instead they continue to lay off good workers.
yeah imagine a ford f450 with those electric motors and a 100kwh battery plus a generator that would be the holy grail of trucks! same with ford f550, 650.....
I'll take range over stearing all day in a truck. One day hopefully we will get that CT with 500 mile range without needing to compromise the bed space..
I’d try it. Thanks for sharing Crimson! See you in the next one! 🙌
the steer by wire is no new invention could have been easily implemented by manufacturers decades ago, the problem with it is simply safety, we all know that electric failures can happen, caused by many things, imagine driving 70mph, having a electric failure and you completely loose steering, COMPLETLEY! Iam an engineer, every machine that is built has still mechanical backups for movements/operations that are life threating if loosing control...
@@freedomisnotnegotiable
You are exactly the guy, Sandy talks about. “There are no specs…”😉
Yes, electrical failures can happen, but the CT has double redundancy throughout the control system. Notice the two ribbon cables? They are for redundancy.
You say you're an engineer, don't just be an engineer, be an inventor.
@@m-tegmbh909 redundant cables don't fix power faults or software glitches. Understanding that the steering approach in the CT has many advantages, improved safety doesn't seem to be one of them.
@@m-tegmbh909 double redundancy in an electrical system? Well that is just more insane. Electrical mechanisms need a mechanical redundancy, very easy! Adding a 2nd cable/control is no invention. A lot of electric failures lead to a total electric system collapse. You saw that he was praising that all the control signals go through that one flat cable? It doesn’t matter if you have 5xredundancy in the same cable ribbon, if that flat cable fails it fails.
I wonder why Sandy's CT "teardown" never highlights that all those stainless panels are just glued to stamped steel brackets and then hung on the stamped & welded steel occupant cage and cast aluminum subframes. The stainless is all trim and could easily be replaces with steel, FRP, or waxed cardboard with no functional change to the CT's structure.
I hadn't noticed this. I will keep a lookout for the glued panels.
@@bogususer2595 See the teardown on the Autoline YT channel. Autoline is an insiders channel for automotive pros. Sandy got his social media start there when he came on to talk about innovative auto engineering long before he became a spokesman for Tesla. See his talk there on the BMW i3.

It’s because they all made a big reveal about it having an “exo-skeleton “ which of course it doesn’t have. The panels shed very easily.

Sandy’s defined the CT as a sportsman’s truck! 🫤 interesting. The CT fits in no segment. It’s really a impossible to do product that will change the industry ( 48 volt, steer by wire, rust free, thank safe, best software in the business and so on). All it needs is FSD and 65K$ price tag
It certainly is unique. Use cases will adjust with price drops in the future no doubt. Thanks for watching & sharing Michel! See you in the next one! 🙌
Great interview. When Sandy receives the new software update watch how fast his position changes on "the best offroader." The CT makes Hells Revenge look like child's play.
Yeah the improvements on Cybertruck will be wild! Thank so much for the kind words. We’ll see you in the next one! 👋
Hells Revenge is about picking the correct line. It has been done in a stick Kia Sorento and a stock Cayenne. If you pick the correct line, you can keep all 4 wheeks planted. Not tough for the vehicle at all. It is a driving skill test. That's why Tesla picked that course. It looks scary, but is relatively easy.
@@TroySavary all offloading is about picking the correct line. Beyond obvious.

Make sure you take off both the front and rear wheel fairings before you take the truck off-road.
Most Jeep owners trim or remove fenders as well. Lower valences are recommended to be removed as well before off-roaring.
Those aren't even off-road tires on the R1T, those are the aero tires. What a Beast
💯 yeah that thing is a monster on those logs!
@@JoshWest247 a monster! what! are you even serious!?
Rivian design most attractive
Perhaps it is just me, but I liked pre-Tesla Cult Sandy Monro a lot better - where he could be impartial.
Curious perspective. Could it be that Sandy had been consistent and based on his firsthand experience he is genuinely impressed with the innovation he is witness to? Or is there no chance of that because we should all be emotional and dislike Tesla just because…
@@JoshWest247 he was critical or some parts of the tesla vehicles in the past reviews - he liked this part on teh design of the door and then go into a story about how he told GM back in the day that they needed to design their doors in a manner similar to this. Then he would see something else that he didn't like and sh!t on that.
Now everything that Elon does is pure genius - Sandy is getting money somewhere or losing his real perspective and impartiality.
I see many "influencers" taking advantage of their youtube presence to get high level vacations and perks to give favorable reviews which would turn into more future sales.
Even Kyle who had his Plaid wrecked got it repaired in weeks instead of months. Not a straight foreword bribe but service which is not realistic for anyone else.
Well, Sandy did say that the Cybertruck is good for sitting quietly (hunting)… If you want a work truck - get Ford Lightning... If you want to off-road - get a Rivian.
@@allenbaylus3378 you obviously don't know who Sandy's customers are or how he makes money.
Let me assure you no one cares about your opinion or to influence it. If someone changed thier mind and they did I can guarantee they wouldn't have any reason to lie about it.
But he is right on the point, that Chinese will copy CT tech in 12-18 months, but not other US legacy car makers. You can hate the Musk and CT looks, but the innovation is there.
Sandy GM has had rear steering since early 2000’s on some pick ups.

What type of metal is used for the ring cable? Copper, silver?
💯 Great question for @munro
I believe he mentioned it as being copper.

Don’t forget about the workers that do remain losing their equity incentives too, huh? He was bought into this interview
“Brought” perhaps? Not sure what is being said here… thanks for watching though! 👍
Why couldn't the Cybertruck be a good work truck?
Because it’s not easy to get in and out of the bead and the sides are too high for Loading and the bead is not perfectly rectangular it’s a odd shape there no place to put a spare tire except in the bead where the stuff you should be carrying and the bead can be removed and install a flat bead or a utility box .
It will 😉

@platoscavealum902 Tariffs are a tax, but you can rebate. Lincoln screwed up by not rebating the Morrill tariff, which caused the Civil War. @@JoshWest247yeah, this has been going on for a few years now that Elon will not allow Tesla to come out with additional models. This is a case where marketing executives should have a lot more authority in the company.
All that modern innovation and technology is meaningless if the truck can't get you from a to b without you worrying about it breaking down which has been proven over and over and over again by early adopters. The build quality is appalling considering people are paying over $100,000 for this monstrosity. Also having a range of only 80 to 90 when doing actual "truck stuff" such as towing is utterly ridiculous. My Ford Maverick gets 537 miles to a tank of gas, cost $40 to fill and is actually more capable than this heap of junk. The only Leap Tesla has taken here is a giant leap backwards. Sandy discussing the wiring makes so many mistakes it is embarrassing, for a given wattage load the 48v system will need a quarter of the current needed in a 12v system, no argument there. 48v electrical systems have been in use for years in some vehicles. The wire is not quarter of the diameter it is a quarter of the cross sectional area. As for the ribbon cable, it is a cheap cable with cheap connectors, and you can see the advantage. Sandy is drunk on Elon’s Kool-aid. Elon can do no wrong according to Sandy.
One day he is going to regret his promotion of TESLA.
Thanks for watching and sharing David! Looking forward to your input on future videos! 🙌
Wow- 48 volt electrical system! Only 13 years after every company in Germany agreed on the standard! Elon is truly an innovator.
If so, they must have forgot to actually build vehicles using the 48v system. Thanks for watching & sharing Glenn! See you in the next one! 🙌
and in the meantime 24volts have been standard in european big trucks and equipments for decades while the US lacks behind! when you compare a 25years old Scania truck to an american one the US one looks like it was from the 70's. Scania has tons of very clever features including remote control, air suspensions, retarder..... more advanced than even today american trucks.
Gotta love Sandy!!!
Sandy rocks!!!
Great interview
Thank you Edward! 👊 See you in the next one!!
Imagine if the engineers hadn't been stuck with a megalomaniac like Musk? Their genius but a more realistic approach. Musk wants $50 billion from Tesla but has sacked 10 % of his workforce. His executives are cashing in their shares - presumably because they know they'll only go down and the quality control is typical Tesla, i.e. unreliable. And after 8 years of 'full self driving, next year', the Cybertruck doesn't appear to have any FSD mode.
Well done the engineers behind the Cybertruck. Musk is a narcissist clown.
Oh, and the regulations for the EU will make sure that the Cybertruck never hits Europe: they're simply too dangerous. The Cybertruck is an American toy for American boys, pure and simple.
Thanks for the update Vivien! See you in the next video! Watch for my upcoming FSD Cybertruck video with its debut FSD v12.5
@@JoshWest247, When Elon says FSD, he means Fool Self Driving (supervised). When Elon says "supervised" he means non-Self Driving (NSD).
Jack Welch would fire 10% of his workforce on the regular. You internet armchair CEOs are a joke
FSD is fantastic. Elon firing the Super charger division was a mistake Tesla superchargers are incredible. We need more stations and maintenance of them.
