Thanks Mark! Hope you had a nice Christmas also. Your attention to detail keeps me motivated to do the best I can (as a total amateur). Still working on Pop’s rear doors. Many hours on this area as it’s the worst part of the damage. I’ll send over some photos, even though it doesn’t look like much progress is being made. Happy New Year!
Thanks Robert, Christmas was good. Take a break on the doors and work on something else and then go back to them. You will be surprised how much it helps. You will see things differently and may even see the solution that has been hiding itself. Total amateur's often do some of the best work because they care more. I think you are doing awesome work, keep it up.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas too. Seeing how you go about doing things, to correct problem areas, is really helpful. I hope to have mine finished by early summer 2025.
Looking good Mark! Just a suggestion, Install your gas lift struts during your fitment process just in case it flexes somewhere and create a miss alignment.
Oh I will once I get the lid fitting just right. The lid itself is really rigid but the hinges have more play than I would like. I am more concerned about ill fitting weatherstrip giving me grief later on.
These cars of that era came off the assembly line sort of "good enough". Even new modern cars are not perfect. While they got the panel gaps pretty spot on, especially Japanese manufacturers, the panels are wavy and the paint isn't the greatest. It's a ton of work to make these cars show car quality. Most people have no idea how much work goes into getting all those little details right. It's not a money making endeavor. Its' a labor of love.
So true. I do the best I can and then take a break from it and come back and do some more. All the years and all the cars taught me so much but most customers couldn't afford the costs of getting it that nice. I am the customer now and since I am not charging labor it is just a matter of how much time I am willing to put in.
@FoothillPaintandFabrication You're doing a great job. The attention to detail is really gonna pay off for a beautiful car in the end. You're almost done with the hardest part... getting it solid and straight. It's all fun and games after that. At least in my world, bolting stuff back together is the fun part.
@@stuartjohnston4353 I admit I have a problem with making things as good as possible, things no one else will ever notice of see. This is my No Regrets car
Very nice video Mark. This is the stuff that separates the men from the boys. I have been sluffing off on my project. Thanks for the motivation.
Thanks. Money and motivation have slowed or killed more projects. I work hard to keep both flowing 😁

I did, thanks Ron. Well you will beat me by a year if not more. No timeline for mine but I have to keep pushing forward each day.
Nice work Professor
Thanks Tim.

@@marcellemay7721 I hope so, it would be nice to actually put parts back on the car instead of tearing it apart.
Exactly , this car off the assembly line probably had worse gaps than that. For me close enough is close enough 🤣
