100% worth the wait! This is an absolute unit of a kit, I can see why it took a while to build, it looks great. This would turn into a monster of a diorama, can’t wait!
Your skill is very impressive especially like your dioramas, where you build walls etc. Learned so much, when I modeled wish I'd known some of the thinks you do, outstanding!
what an awesome beast to build! and perfect timing too, seeing as i JUST got my Karl kit just last week. really looking forward to seeing the monster getting paint
That's a shame your Dragon version of this vehicle got thrown away. It would probably be worth money now as it would be seen as a "vintage" kit as they say.
I love your videos, you inspired me to start modelling. I’m hoping to become a patroon soon :) Edit: do you recommend any kits easy for a beginner (1/35 German ww2 preferably) thanks
There is a wartime photo of a Mosquito that had flown through a fireball burning off most of the paint to reveal the wood underneath. Now that would look awesome
You've probably been asked to do this a bajillion times already, but I'd *love* to see you tackle a Warhammer tank kit, while applying all the cool superdetailed modelling tricks and such! I think it'd turn out beautifully. Love your work!
@@Pint-Painters The BIS lunar lander, a space ship designed for a lunar stay of 2 weeks for 3 men. It wouldn’t be dainty or flimsy like the actual lunar module, it’d be the sort of thing you can bang your fist on. Plenty of rivets to pin wash, plenty of interior detail to add. Here’s a nice picture of the schematic: pbs.twimg.com/media/D1KcXeIW0AAiYBf.jpg
When you mentioned something big in the last video, I was betting it'll be propably 1:16 model. But this, this is way more impressive even. I'm super curious how you balance painting such huge model with your attention to detail.
As someone who really likes the look of the Gerat anyway, and loves your modelling work, this combined with it being a huge kit is a heck of a combo! Looking forward to seeing how this goes!
Hello Uncle Nightshift, Can you make some videos about tutorials/techniques for weathering and what tools and brushes you use and how do you keep it in good shape please? I've devoured all your videos and my modelling skills are improving but i'm also spending a lot of money in the hobby hahaha Cheers from France
I started modeling at the beginning of last year and watching your videos has made the quality of my builds skyrocket. Love the videos and appreciate the work and dedication you have for the craft! 😎
I've just started working on a 1/43.5 scale model of one of the few guns even bigger than this - Schwerer Gustav. It is only after I finished 3D printing all the parts for the gun did I realise the completed model won't fit on my current workbench - the construction could be interesting!
this reminds me of that Soviet 2a3 Kondensator you teased a couple years back. Please build it I would love to see you scratch build little all the wires on that tank,
How would you feel about building a more modern model kit? Such as a hillbilly truck, or a Challenger tank. I know I'd love to see a Iraq war based diorama from you
Another excellent build! Martin, there's an exhibition in our town this May, and we would like you to be a guest there. Where can I send you some details, so we can speak?
Thay did a version of this with the rail road cradles for each end so think that is where that ‘travel mode’ comes on. As that would raise the tracks once connected up to a train.
Great looking build! I've been binging on your videos daily and re-watching the same ones multiple times. Your amazing work inspired me to take a break from aircraft modeling and start building tanks. I've learned so much from your techniques, thank you!
It's probably not a research error, someone mixed up the Chinese definitions and as a result of that, probably also the translations. It's likely that whoever put the English and Chinese on the page together didn't understand English and/or the subject matter in Chinese well enough to spot what was going on: The top one says "Travel mode" in English and says 运输状态 - YunShuZhuangTai - literally: "Transport condition" in Chinese - Both Chinese and English are wrong. The bottom one says "Firing mode" in English but actually says 行驶状态 - XingShiZhuangTai - literally: Traveling condition in Chinese. English wrong, Chinese correct. Whatever caused it, it's a mess :)
You can use "diluant cellulosique" instead of Tamiya cement , it makes the same job with the putty for 20time or 30time less expansive . Onyx 7,55€ le litre sur Amazon
I've found Eduard photo etch to be way too fiddly. I just picked up the 1/700 Flyhawk DKM Scharnhorst 1943 Deluxe kit and I am looking forward to seeing how the Flyhawk photo etch is to work with. That is a monster of a kit! The biggest model I have worked on is the Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Hood. The photo etch killed the kit for me and zapped all my enjoyment from it.
You should actually start building ships, I have like 4 ships and if I’m being honest, they look like the same size of the géret if not maybe even bigger!
Hey Nightshift! I love your videos. I have a modelling question for you. Whenever I paint models, usually with a brush, I get little particles of dust or parts of bristles or other crud stuck underneath the paint. Any tips on how to prevent this?
Absolutely loved this built, Have you ever used your “basic modelling skills” on a Warhammer or other fantasy armoured vehicle? Or a true classic like Leonardo’s “tank”?
Pretty sure they mean the wheels are up during rail transport when it's on those cars that hold it. firing mode the tracks are used to aim (traverse). So I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But you glued your suspension on in the wrong position. Look up the rail transport system.
Nice. That's definitely a big boy. Currently building a T'au Storm Surge for my 40k army. My sons were all griping at me because they thought it wasn't fair for them to field their knights when they played me because they generally won. Personally it's a cool model with a LOT of room for personalizing. And I was out of WW2 models for my Bolt Action armies. Yay shipping delays or outright lost/stolen in transit.
Great! You're back Uncle. Fantastic modelling. Love the way you sand, fill and surface your projects, super inspiring for us mere modelling mortals. Canit wait to see the painting.
I feel this at 14:50. I fill gaps and paint little details only to cover them up completely. Nobody will ever look or if they did, notice, but *I* would know and every time I looked at the model, it would eat at me, that gaping line swallowing my attention, destroying everything the model could have been….so I cover them up.
I had seen this kit on the shelf's and pondered weather to grab one . I figured it would not be too big for the model shelf. After seeing your build I think I will pass on it ! I'll stick with the Hobbyboss 1/72 Dora ( yeh ,right ). Your builds are perfect as always my friend ! Cheers.
Bloody hell, this thing is a monster! A very impressive monster, even! Makes me think of the 2A3 Kondensator I have still sitting in my stash, waiting...
Very nice work! I'm currently building the early Karl mortar with the rail transport carriages. It's a huge beast of a thing and nearly 90cm long all up. I'm a glutton for punishment as I am also building a BR-52 steam locomotive to go with it!
I find it quite funny how this model alone is as big as my biggest diorama 🗿
Anyway the level of details and realism is already incredible 🔥
If he does a diorama of this I'd have to watch it thrice just to believe he did it.

great build, looking forward to the final result. tempted to pick this up to go with my 1/72 dora railway gun (hobby boss).
what an awesome beast to build! and perfect timing too, seeing as i JUST got my Karl kit just last week. really looking forward to seeing the monster getting paint
That is so cool 👍🤙
Like the sergeant says in The Thin Red Line, "Breathe! You gotta breathe!"
Can we see a comparison picture with your Maus when its done?
Outstanding job, so far. Can't hardly wait for the next one.

I always feel threatened in a way when he shows his "very bad 16 year old kits"...
Still ready every Friday for the new video! 😁 It just keeps getting better and better :)
Build a plane kit. It would be awesome!
Only if he weathers it like he does tank models. Mud caked around the wheels, copious amounts of Grease, and tons of weathering.
There is a wartime photo of a Mosquito that had flown through a fireball burning off most of the paint to reveal the wood underneath. Now that would look awesome
*_N O !_*
But in all seriousness, he’s stated that he doesn’t want to because it’s not his style.
no
Honestly, I build more planes than anything, though I obviously love vehicles, figures, and ships. A Night Shift aircraft would be brilliant!
You've probably been asked to do this a bajillion times already, but I'd *love* to see you tackle a Warhammer tank kit, while applying all the cool superdetailed modelling tricks and such! I think it'd turn out beautifully. Love your work!
Would love to see him do a Leman Russ or, even better, a Basilisk
Firstly, that would look simply beautiful in a big diorama on the steppes!
Secondly, I have a suggestion for, perhaps a scratch build project…
What

@@captainramius5047 that looks cool, but a retro moon rocket build has to be the tintin one, sorry! xD
@@cravinghibiscus7901 Fair enough, But I think the BIS one is more practical, despite being more than 40 foot tall

Ahh...a fellow Blitzkrieg enjoyer, i also really liked that game.
i never thought that uncle nightshift would buy this monstrosity!, good luck on this one man!

Finally a new video from Martin. I missed it.

My life had lost all meaning these past few weeks, now that Uncle is back, everythibg is as it should be again!
Same
A W E S O M E
As I’ve said before you’ve inspired me so much!
I like how the wheels-up for travelling error implies the mortar slid along on its belly like an otter in the snow
Ah, the comforting joy that is a new Night Shift video, it's Friday night, and time to relaaaaaaxx...

Happy New Year, Martin! That's some serious styrene you got there, muh friend! Looks awesome!
Would your trick gluing the metal punched rivets w/ Mr Cement S onto plastic also work attaching small PE to plastic?
I saw one of these in a now-defunct hobby store over a decade ago and didn't pick it up. One of my biggest hobby regrets.
When I first saw the thumbnail I thought you were doing a WH40K model.
And holy crap how have I never heard of these things before?
Another excellent build!

Happy New Year, Master. And thanks for bringing this Beast (tired of just looking at the work...)

Those kit always in my wishlist. The reason i didn't but it yet cus dont know how big it is. The biggest kit in my collection is meng t-10 1/32
Happy New Year Buddy and thanks for the awesome video and model.
This thing reminds me of my Imperial Gaurd Baneblade i assembled in scale. I used your armor texturing guide to make it apear more realistic
I had the dragon version of this kit glad I traded it for a 48 scale full interior tiger takom kit lol looks great and it’s Yuge cheers Martin

I love the video, as usual, but that's def not the kind of tin foil Ive ever seen hah that looks 10x thicker.
Killer job, mah friend!
A Panzer 3M painted to the invasion of Malta would be cool
Absolutely loved this built,

No words, awesome. Friday best moment on the week. Thanks for your work and vids
As mentioned, it truly is three entire kits rolled into one. I am really looking forward to the coming steps on this one!
Lucky you did not buy the other version of this that includes the railed transporter! That IS huge.
YESS this looks like an AWESOME project, can't wait for how this one will turn out
Seeing this made my day perfect!!
I can't even imagine how much it all cost :D
What do you do with all the parts you don't use in a build?
I would love to see your take on a 40k tanks, maybe a baneblade or the new rogal dorn. A "realistic" take on them would be fantastic 😁
Why does everybody go for the bane-blade?
I wanna see him make a Land Raider!
super cool! I'm looking forward to the painting and weathering post.

Impressive work once again.
Very cool.... 👍👍
This one's going to be EPIC!!
A fellow former Blitzkrieg player, that game really sparked my interest in scale modeling as well as sudden strike.
Perfect timing! I’m building the newer Trumpeter kit, but with the railroad transport system. Learned a lot already! Thanks, Uncle Night Shift!
