Let’s not forget the reason a traditional Captain Marvel sequel didn’t happen was because of Brie Larsons perception. Not to say anything was really her fault. But this project was doomed from the beginning
To be fair, it kinda was her fault, at least partially. It's no secret that a major percentage of the target audience is males, and she came out and made anti-male comments when promoting the film which I thought burned a lot of bridges. I still saw it and I quite enjoyed it. But I imagine a lot of people did take it to heart
Your not wrong, they brought in Monica and Ms. Marvel to smooth over the bad faith Carol had established. I think one thing Disney just can't accept is Captain Marvel was even disliked in the build to Endgame. I remember the rumors even then Disney cut down her scenes for Endgame because of fan reaction. I'll even say this, I don't care about Brie Larson either way, but I was in the series because of Cap, Thor, and Iron Man. Endgame could have established new characters to carry the torch, but I am pretty sure fans were watching the big three, including Hulk/Widow/Hawkeye you know the guys they MADE SURE weren't dusted in Infinity War. That's because the core Avengers were the main heroes.
It was absolutely Brie's dumb b*tch fault. She went on woke tirades after that movie, and everybody who has at least half a brain is sick of the woke movement. If she had been a even remotely classy afterwards, this wouldn't be a discussion.

Many critical reviews of The Marvels, even CriticalDrinker for God’s sake, tote Vellani’s as a solid performance in the film. Some go as far as to say she is the “Heart of the Film.” She is a talented actress with charm on par with Hailee Steinfield IMO.
True, after people hated Brie Larson when she insulted the audience for good versions of this kind of film and Miss Marvel was panned so completely he should never have greenlit this dumpster fire.

Nobody is blaming her performance, I’m sure people will look past the work and look at her herself when casting her. I wish I could say the same for Daisy Ridley with Star Wars because she took all the hate and it wasn’t even her fault
Well I mean this is only her second project. Ms. marvel the show was her first ever project in acting. Now she’s known because of marvel which will eventually get her more roles outside of marvel. But relatively she’s only been in 2 projects, her career just started & she has many more years to go. Also her acting wasn’t the issue, because she was good in the Ms. marvel show despite the show being mediocre at best & she was the best part about this recent movie again despite the movie being mediocre until the convulsed nonsense ending & boring villain ruined everything.

You also got to remember, she is fairly young in the industry, so she has much to lose comapred to her co-host like ms paris and brie, they can go to other acting gigs, for her, she still needs some work and break throughs to pull off other roles besides just "Ms. Marvel"
I don't really agree. Probably anybody who saw the movie will say that Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel was the highlight. Even I say that (and although I like Iman, I am only in the MCU because of Brie) because her obsession with Captain Marvel and meeting her heroes and fighting with them was made to be funny and cute. Monica Rambeau didn't get much depth which is a wasted opportunity. Not introducing the two new characters in the movie is still a mistake. The movie was short. Why not give both a 10 minute intro so the audience knows what's going on. Although I liked "The MarvelS" (solid 7/10), it felt rushed and wasted potential. And not to forget Captain Marvel who was quite differently than in her first movie. But she didn't have the biggest moments, she was the glue for and the leader of the trio but this time her job was to fight a villain and yeah make things right. It wasn't her own movie anymore, she had to share, which was fine to me because a typical superhero vs. supervillain movie without backstory would have bored me.
I feel like an AI could have played Larson's character. Idk if that was poor writing or poor acting. It's wild that this is the same franchise that made me cry over a galaxy saving raccoon.
As is Florence Pugh. With good writing you can really make a good movie out of them, but all we get is near misses. Kamala Khan is literally squealing about being in the same room as Carol Denvers and you could have had a good dramatic moment when she´s trying her damndest to save the skrulls only to have Captain Marvel scold her for it, because she can´t save them all and needs to accept that. In the movie, however, the dramatic tension between them is over in less than five minutes...A damn waste.
Haile as well, but for best, yes she is, people not liking her series is unnecessary hate, because she gets praised for carrying the movie but her series is bad... Sure
Exactly and she was actually really good even though she was the actor/actress with the least level of fame that was part of the main like 12 characters in the movie who got screen time she was still probably the best out of all them in acting
Because, she is a Marvel fan herself! Which is why she was the perfect casting for Kamala Khan. Regardless, of what the overall product is she was absolutely on point and true to the charachter. She understands the complaints that fans might be having of the shows and the movies.
Another big reason for this movie flopping is that Marvel is flooding us with content. People have lives and won’t spend literal days watching Marvel shows as almost prerequisite viewing for the movies. It all started going downhill after WandaVision. There is too much content, and fans are left feeling burnt out. The same is happening with Star Wars. Thanks Disney.
I stopped watching those comic movies. Not cuz I disliked the stories, but cuz I couldn't keep up with the interwined plot. I don't want to watch a movie with the feeling that I should have watched 5 other movies ( or shows on streaming platforms I don't have ) to understand what's going on here. Therefore I prefer standalone origin superhero movies.
This!!! Yes you are so right there is too much no one is sitting in quarantine any more it’s overwhelming the amount of content that’s out there. There’s too much that it’s low quality. I’d rather 1 big movie per year and 1 good cohesive show over this expansive universe
Loki is high quality, interesting characters and plot, it’s worth the time, Wanda vision had an intriguing plot but ms marvel is just not interesting and not familiar enough to draw enough fans.
Thank you for clarifying. I don't know why I get the shorts of this dude into my feed. Is this dude reliable? Twising information instead of quoting it isn't nice. It would be crazy for Iman to attack Bob Iger.

Also, it was Bob's fault more than anyone else involved that the SAG-AFTRA strike went on as long as it did, blocking them from being able to promote it and even use a lot of the marketing budget Disney already spent.
I can only guess that it has to do with the different release dates. The Marvels had 4 other dates, ranging from July 2022 to end of July 2023. Then the strikes happened and it was even not safe to say if the movie would be released this year or not.

Disney shouldn’t have spent so much on this movie considering the fandoms response to the original Captain Marvel and Brie Larson.
She was the best part of the movie. It’s not a bad movie , it is entertaining but the villain is weak and the story line worse . Could’ve been better ( and should’ve been ) but I don’t blame the actors for any of it
She is right! She just needs to act and do as they say! Whereas Disney controls, the scripts, writers, budgets, funds, resources, directors, extras…. What can she do when people don’t know how to write a compelling story
Iman Vellani was really good in the movie and the show. She is a talented actress. What was lacking was a good story and that too mainly in the 2nd half. It’s like the writers gave up on the movie half way through.
There is never a reason to bash an actor or actress just because you don’t like their show/movie. They’ve just taken a job and done their job to the satisfaction of the company.

Dune 1 and Dune 2 combined cost less than the Marvels, there is no WAY that money was spent correctly. So she is 100% correct. Disney stopped caring about putting quality and passion into their movies and just makes products now.
I watched the Ms. Marvel, and it was actually better than I thought it would be and I like it. Mainly because Iman stars in it, and has very good personality. The supporting cast were also good and a decent storyline. Just not enough people watched it, is what appears to have happened.
Blame the writers & producers. Disney needs to fire every single writer that brings low numbers. They should never be able to get work with them ever again.
She was the only actor in the movie whose performance wasn’t mailed in. She was genuinely excited and portrayed the character very well. The problems are 1: No one cares about or wanted the character and its purpose was social justice rather than entertainment and 2: Disney writers are a dumpster fire come to life.

@@hidenname541at this point, for me, it's Disney that's got all the heat.
She didn't blame anyone for anything she just said that the box office isn't her's to worry about. I don't know if he meant to do this, but he is putting words in her mouth
No. It's Brie Larson's fault. She started attacking men and white people. The project was doomed because Brie Larson was cast.
@@YorkshireBother
No kind of. It was Larson's fault. Bad movie too.
She’s 100% correct. And she’s awesome, one of the most likable characters in ages. Plus her family really humanizes her. I just don’t see how Marvels could have cost $400 mil. That’s just nutty.
She personally did a good job. She actually seems to care about the source material too (rare at Disney/Marvel) and she never blames the fans. Respect
She handled this situation a lot more maturely and rationally than other actors would.
I blame Disney too she's absolutely right.
She's right. Disney is tanking the careers of good actors and actresses with its poor scripts. Other actors are too scared or offended to point it out.
Tbh the script for the first Captain Marvel movie was actually good, The Marvel's was fine but there was a lot missing... especially with the -20 minutes runtime vs the first movie...I wish they had done more!
@@saint2972the script from the first captain marvel movie made Captain marvel seem like a stuck up,cocky, kinda sexist, bitch that gets what she wants because she wants to and never got punished for it
I was shocked how good this film was actually, more people should watch it. I was genuinely shocked but happy I watched it, lots of surprising funny scenes & action & plot was on point. It was definitely not advertised right because it's worth the watch!
Yeah, it was a fun movie that kept the beat rolling. It got a little chick flickey at some point so you're gonna lose some people with that, also the ending felt a bit flat. But overall I don't think the writing was bad. It was entertaining and I don't know why it got so much hate.
Many critical reviews of The Marvels, even CriticalDrinker for God’s sake, tote Vellani’s as a solid performance in the film. Some go as far as to say she is the “Heart of the Film.” She is a talented actress with charm on par with Hailee Steinfield IMO.
I look forward to seeing them both again after the end of the movie
I think we all agree it's Bob Iger's fault regardless of what we think about Brie Larson
True, after people hated Brie Larson when she insulted the audience for good versions of this kind of film and Miss Marvel was panned so completely he should never have greenlit this dumpster fire.

In my opinion, she's right. But part of it has to do with plot and storyline which I guess he's be more responsible for than an actress anyway.
Brie Larson is responsible.

"Every actor has to make terrible films from time to time, but the trick is never to be terrible in them."
-Christopher Lee
It's just a shame that Iman starred in bombs very early on in her career. I hope she gets a good role soon.
@@drumaticpageofmusic4148it wasn’t even her, it was her character. That last name thief that no one will ever call “Rey sKyWaLkEr” because she can’t just steal last names like that. It’s Disney’s fault for not going with the planned sequel trilogy that Lucas wanted with Maul as the big bad & next bug villain of Star Wars but then disney stupidly killed of Maul in Disney XD’s Star Wars rebels which Lucas DID NOT WANT & then they got a whole new cast in the sequel trilogy & barely paid attention to the older cast despite killing them all off before they got to share the screen together all 3 (sorry minus Chewie).
I have faith she'll succeed. People like her.
Ms. Marvel was panned by many... but not Iman's performance as Kamala.
She is a Marvel fan herself! Which is why she was the perfect casting for Kamala Khan. Regardless, of what the overall product is she was absolutely on point and true to the charachter. She understands the complaints that fans might be having of the shows and the movies.
Bad writing and bad decision making isn't the actors fault. It is obvious that a movie like this wont gross 800 million dollars or more.
Thank you. Don't hate the actor, hate the script.
She's the one thing that worked for the movie. She's genuinely just happy to be there❤
Her show was even better than that green lady Shrek and they still trolled it...
She was the only one of the 3 main actors who actually seemed like she tried in her role
Not gonna lie, Iman Vellani might just be the best addition to the MCU since Endgame.
Sure
I like her that she doesn’t talk down to fans.
She CARRIED that movie!
Fr. We got the same amount of projects this year that we did for the build up for avengers 1
Not true because people watch Loki and would all week
WAITTTTT NO NOOOO...that's not what she said, "Iman Vellani says low box office takings from The Marvels is Bob Iger's problem [to deal with]"

Also, it was Bob's fault more than anyone else involved that the SAG-AFTRA strike went on as long as it did, blocking them from being able to promote it and even use a lot of the marketing budget Disney already spent.

I feel bad her. It was her first mcu film and it didn't go well. But she nailed her role. Congrats!
I thought it was odd that they did their happy meal toy promo like 3 months ago instead of with the movie release.
I can only guess that it has to do with the different release dates. The Marvels had 4 other dates, ranging from July 2022 to end of July 2023.
Then the strikes happened and it was even not safe to say if the movie would be released this year or not.
She is 100% right. An Actors job is to an act, not their fault if they are given a terrible script
I’m an Vellani is so right.Disney needs to hear what some actors are saying.I remember Mark Hamill said that him in the sequel trilogy all he did was sit there and do nothing and ruined his character.Disney really needs to listen to their actors because their spitting out facts.
I saw her interview on The View and she seems like a really genuine and likable young lady with a promising career ahead of her. She should not be getting any blame for the movie flopping. Disney shouldn’t have spent so much on this movie considering the fandoms response to the original Captain Marvel and Brie Larson.
Shes still one of the best casting for marvel she is very likeable and a believable actor
When the one that's happy to be here "bites the hand that feeds her", you know there's something wrong.
I've seen many people say she was the best/ only good part of the movie and would be excited to see more of her
She was the best part of the movie.
Brie Larson is the only reason I won’t watch this movie 😂

She absolutely carried the movie.
Dune 1 and Dune 2 combined cost less than the Marvels, there is no WAY that money was spent correctly. So she is 100% correct. Disney stopped caring about putting quality and passion into their movies and just makes products now.
