    Am I alone here? No one made a single comment on how they skipped an entire step, the MOST important one, lol. You didn't use any primer prior to painting or epoxy'ing. You'll be lucky to have 1 year of joy outta this job.

      You may be alone. We followed the manufacture’s application guide to a T. I just looked at the application guides for five more acrylic pool paints and they were all described as self-priming or specified no priming required. We got three years out of it before we resurfaced the pool.

    Several folks have asked about the type of paint that we used. It was the Ramuc AquaLuster Acrylic paint. Good luck with your projects, everyone! 👍

      Why acrylic instead of epoxy? I mean, it's cheaper, but the epoxy will last at least twice as long?

    If you’re going to scrape and/or sand you “shouldn’t” need to acid wash as well. Acid wash is just to get rid or harsh chemicals on the surface of the paint. Scraping and sanding would remove most of that. Looks good though.

      Appreciate the feedback. Even though we scraped and sanded the pool, there was still paint residue in a lot of places. We weren’t taking any chances with having poor adhesion, so we washed with muriatic acid. Plus, it helped to neutralize any alkalinity in the plaster and cement.

    I saw some pitting or was it the lighting. I’m curious why you didn’t smooth and sand a coating of plaster?

      There was some pitting, but we did not worry about it because we were planning to have the whole pool re-plastered in a few years.

    Would you eventually do pebble sheen in the pool?

    • @WoodmereEstateRevival
      @WoodmereEstateRevival  4 месяца назад

      We looked at several pebble type finishes, but eventually went with a spray in fiberglass finish. We’re really happy with it.

    Well done this looks amazing thanks for the help - I’m about to paint my pool.
    How has the paint lasted after 2 years?
    Thanks - Dan

      Thanks, Dan! It was quite the job. Our paint lasted about 3 years before it started bubbling. We ended up having a company come in and apply a fiberglass coating on the concrete. It’s doing great and should last us another 15 years.

    A year later has the paint held up well?

    • @WoodmereEstateRevival
      @WoodmereEstateRevival  2 года назад +2

      We’ve noticed a few blisters and small areas of loose paint, but not too bad at this time. Ultimately, we would like to do something like Pebble Tec, but it’s $$$!

    Looks awesome! Almost there - I’m curious , did you pressure test? I didn’t see an episode where you showed that. If you did, was it difficult?

    • @WoodmereEstateRevival
      @WoodmereEstateRevival  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! Yes, we pressure tested in a previous episode. It was a bit of a pain, but well worth the trouble because we discovered a joint that had been put together dry and never glued! Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/VbBgFx_z_5I/видео.html

    Can you share what type of paint you used? And do you have to acid wash it?

    • @WoodmereEstateRevival
      @WoodmereEstateRevival  3 года назад +1

      Hi Patricia. We used the Ramuc AquaLuster Acrylic paint. We did an acid wash first with a diluted muriatic acid solution. Then, we applied a TSP solution. Finally, we rinsed thoroughly with pure water. Good luck with your project!

    Do you likecthis pool paint better then a pool liner?? Or why go with the paint vs a pool liner ? Is this a cheaper option? What was the total cost of the materials for this? And how long did it take you guys from start to finish !??

    • @WoodmereEstateRevival
      @WoodmereEstateRevival  2 года назад +1

      This is an old school concrete pool with a plaster finish. It never had a liner in it. It had been painted several times before we bought it, so we decided to sand everything down and repaint it. We ended up using around 7 or 8 gallons of paint. The pool was in horrible shape, so it took a long time to prep it.
