Her orbital pulsar attack requiring an ash of war just to dodge is super annoying. I wouldn't mind fighting metyr at all if they just fixed that one attack. This is probably the worst move in all of elden ring. It's been 5 months and still no one has a discovered a way to dodge it without an aow. Even waterfowl had a way to dodge from melee range. I'm surprised fromsoft nerfed radahns double slash attack but not this one. I guess it's an optional boss so they didn't think it was a priority.
@@lemonnade5974you can dodge the double orbiting lasers by outspacing them but its still super inconsistent since you have to already be far away from metyr when she starts the attack to make it in time

They didn't even bother to give Gaius a unique theme, all the remembrance bosses in the DLC have their own theme except for Gaius. I was surprised and disappointed when I got a remembrance from Gaius. Bro felt like an optional side boss. Metyr blew me away aurally and visually. It looked, sounded and felt like I was fighting an otherworldly God, and I loved every moment. It reminded me of how I felt when I fought Ebrietas for the first time. It was way more memorable than Gaius and it's not close. 🤷♂️
I enjoy Gaius personally but I'm glad to see some Metyr appreciation. Not the most fun boss but a great experience and fantastic reveal. Somewhat similar to Ebrietas as she too is a really cool, thematic encounter but far from the most fun in the game.
I mean technically gaius IS a optional side boss (you miss like the one of the best weapon, ash of war, and spell in the game, and some skibidi fragment butb thats it)

Hell, some attacks really should require knowledge of Raptor of the Mist or Bloodhound Step. Everyone should have a weapon or two with those ashes. I find it very sad how often "Souls fans" don't want to engage with the mechanics/tools/options in the games. Which is why Souls games are so easy once you actually engage with all the tools and options available, which leads to people saying bleed/whatever meta is OP and only "n00bs" use them. But nah, all attacks should be mid rollable...

Every point spent into making my mana pool bigger is a point not spent making my main weapon deal more damage and, if I'm not certain I'll be able to use said mana pool to its full potential, why would I invest my limited and gradually diminishing resources on it? Same thing with weapons. Same thing with spells. Same thing with ashes. Same thing with armor. Same thing with every potential way of character building. You have no way of knowing what is mandatory and what isn't because so much is optional and is made to seem optional by the fact that few things are guaranteed and the games never really test you specifically for things that are guaranteed. You are never required to use the Destined Death effect that you can get from Maliketh's Remembrance to pass a certain point in the game, so why would I assume that I'd need to use an ash that I can get from some one random enemy from an optional area to deal with a specific attack from a boss from another optional area dozens of hours later? It's incoherent, it doesn't make sense and you are coming into it already with the prerequisite knowledge of the game's meta and how the community interacts and evaluates the experience. There's a reason why Sekiro teaches you about red attacks explicitly and Elden Ring doesn't teach you about the differences in invul frames between different evasive options.

Radahn's Two Hit Left/Right can at least be Deflected or Parried, and if you're far to his side then you can dodge it even. This shit just have no counter at all. It's basically a "I win" button in close range as well since the whirlwinds also damage you and it can't be interrupted.

Scadutree avatar is great. Metyr is great in every way aside from the phase two memes. Great doesn't mean perfect, but still a very cool thematic and creative boss. The avatar is good all round, super unique with a haunting soundtrack and a fantastic visual and audio design. Lots of personality and i love how it incorporates new moves into existing attack strings. Very cinematic and fun for me. I'd say all the remembrances in SotE are good. Like my lowest is probably Metyr overall but she's still B-tier since I take into account the whole design in my rating.

I've died to rennala and messmer more times than to this boss yet unlike them this boss was no fun while also being the most annoying boss alive, I've hated every second of the fight
An attempt to make something unique backfired. Pretty much what this boss is. Its design is interesting, but it seems that came at the cost of having the most annoying and unfunny melee moveset ever with many unavoidable attacks. Fromsoft needs to recognize the difference between difficulty and some downright ridiculous design specialized in annoying people
Aside from the big laser in phase two, what other moves are unavoidable? I have fought her many times and I can't recall any other move that you couldn't avoid by dodging or running, at most, a couple that require very precise timings to dodge.
I might have been fortunate to fight this boss when I was near max Scadutree Blessing level. It was only after watching a friend's fight that I realized how annoying her set of moves can be.
She's not the worst AT ALL, Gaius IS. Metyr has a great lore, great questline, great music, great presentation, great arena, cool design, some fun moves even tho she has the weird laser attack(which still looks cool). Gaius on the other has nothing but fight, and a stupid charge attack. Plz change the title

I've found that SOTE has a buncha mid/bad bosses, and some amazing bosses, and there's no in between. I suppose divine beast and rellana are just good, not great, but other than that.
IMO liked both Metyr and Scadutree Avatar even more so. Though aesthetics really help both, i found them fun to face too. But if we're being real Metyr sucks for no-hit runs bc of that laser.
Actually such a good boss in my opinion. More of cinematic and atmospheric boss while still being a very fun and unique fight. Not on the level of the heights of this expansion but still a great design.

this boss is so weak to bleed, i killed it on the 1st try. my biggest issue with it was that damn ring force field it creates. my summon got stuck on the outside of it, and for the majority of the fight couldnt get in to attack.

IMO liked both Metyr and Scadutree Avatar even more so. Though aesthetics really help both, i found them fun to face too. But if we're being real Metyr sucks for no-hit runs bc of that laser.

I swear to god any time i try to use the backstep mechanic like he does to dodge it fails miserably. I don't think I've ever used it successfully.

Actually such a good boss in my opinion. More of cinematic and atmospheric boss while still being a very fun and unique fight. Not on the level of the heights of this expansion but still a great design.

He uses backstep for I frames a few times. No rolls but he does dodge.

ah also on this video, the only stat that you dont have on 99 is vigor + you have mods for faster rolls and stamina consumption

I love this boss cause of the bloodborne influence, really reminds me of ebrietas.
I agree that Scadutree sucks tho, like fighting the same boss three times in a row just isnt fun.

me with shit reaction that took like 30 attempts just to beat this mofo
this boss is so weak to bleed, i killed it on the 1st try. my biggest issue with it was that damn ring force field it creates. my summon got stuck on the outside of it, and for the majority of the fight couldnt get in to attack.
