  • The UN's report on food waste in Bangladesh is inaccurate

Yes, sir it was truly a great observation on differentiating between food waste and food loss. Now it will be more understandable for mass people.

How about kitchen wastes of Europe and America? Do they eat mango peels and seeds? Why their kitchen wastes are lesser than ours?

Because they buy mainly processed food. For example, in our country we buy mainly live/whole chicken and have to discard inedible parts, but in developed country they buy ready to cook chicken where nothing needs to be discarded. This is also true for vegetables and fruits.

I get your point, but would like to draw your attention that these inedible parts of livestock, fruits and vegetables that are discarded from processing / packaging plants are also goes as food waste as ours. That waste of developed countries are also measurable and counted same as our kitchen wastes. Only difference is ours considered household waste and their's industrial kitchen waste. Either we eat at home or in the restaurant there will definitely be kitchen wastes whether is it more from our household or more from restaurant kitchen. Total kitchen wastes will be comparable. Being a residence in Singapore for more than 24 years, I've observed local Singaporeans prefer to buy raw foods from wet markets and bring home for cooking or eating. Thus, they generate similar inedible wastes as ours. They hardly produce any livestock, fruits and vegetables but the bring a significant amount of them fresh from neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar etc.
