Awesome fix Ken! I make my own cables when I need to, even soldering the ends on them. I can't believe what that cable sells for! 82 bucks?? That's half the price of a good used mower in whole. (I get the brake and clutch inner and outer cables for motorcycles, since that's what I mostly concentrate on, and they have the plastic sheath on them). Kudo's!
I couldn’t get the rusted portion of the cable out of the sheath. Tried Kroil, heat. Nothing worked. About a foot of the cable was basically welded to the sheath
@@KensSmallEngineRepair You put rubber fuel line over one end of the cable, clamp it with hose clamp, dribble in automatic transmission fluid, and then use a compressed air nozzle to force the oil under pressure through the full length of the cable.
Ridiculous price for that cable. Whenever we are stuck getting a cable for the control we usually use a 290-713 Stens cable that requires drilling a hole through the handle at the right position to work properly. Actually used this cable on many manufacturer models like our buddy that waited 6 months for a Husqvarna control cable this Stens cable got him up and running quick.
hi there, i have the model 10650 and yes they ask for 92 dollars lol ....f.king thieves the cable sheath is but in half in the middle but the metal wire in it looks ok , just bent btw nice to see this channel, subbed ofc
Nice,, gotta get that tool and some solid wire as well to keep around! I use the stranded stainless wire.. You could have made a Z bend on the engine side with that Solid wire, actually both ends! Ohh I like that idea! Maybe I wanna try that with solid cable now! Ohhhhh Myyyyyy.... I have a bunch of those machines in the "Garden" lol I still wanna keep one, I do have one with the Commercial gas tank and a Briggs! but its a push, I want one that's driven to keep,,,why,,?? Because I Said Soooo!!! Dilly dilly!

I need to start doing that making my own cables would help in the long run for sure, thanks for sharing this one ken sir
All these machines and parts have skyrocketed, great video, thumbs up
I've used mechanics wire run through the old sheathing and crimp the ends before. Quick, simple, cheap and holds up.
The old sheathing was solid with rust for nearly a foot. Not reusable
Ken great improvisation on the cable, Highway robbery OEM👍🇦🇺
Great fix brother 😊
Good job Ken, saved plenty of cash.
Excellent job!! Work around it!!
Great fix Ken. That’s what I do, fix it or make it. Don’t that a lot over the years. 👍🏻👋
The price for the replacement cable is mad, great job making a replacement. We have a couple of tools for making Z bends and they work really well
Well done thinking out the box makes it work
Simply wipe the bare sheath down with motor oil and put a bit inside the sheath and no more rust! Old school fix!😎😎

Improvise, adapt and overcome.
Words to live by!
