This is purely for entertainment proposes and I will not be held liable if you disregard my notices so do not do this , you may harm yourself or others. Do not do this one more time. How's that for a disclaimer. Cheers

    I recently got an old Lawn Boy 2 cycle that someone broke the throttle lever on, so they jerry-rigged the safety bar to act like a throttle. I think the mower has actually been running with the engine brake permanently on, lol. It's getting converted to this setup over the weekend, plus a new carb and spark plug. Thanks for the tip!

  • @stuzman52

    Very clean setup with the switch to shut off the mower. I don't like that bail either as your hands start to ache after awhile holding the thing in. Have a good one Steve!

    i can't stand the control bar. On the model I have you have to hold down 2 bars (one to start it and one to operate the self propel mode). I mowed lawns for decades (even when I was 10 years old). I never had a need for a control bar, I am very careful. Now I am older and have arthritis, it is painful and uncomfortable having to grip both bars. Thanks for posting this video.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  3 года назад +2

      San , my hands just don't like holding on the bars either so for me I'm able to do without and yes I've been cutting grass for over 50 years and never needed the control bars back in the 60's or today 😅😅 Cheers

    Growing up in the 60s-70s, we never had this crap on a mower. No primer bulb-no cable brake. Just a good old-fashioned throttle and choke. Very few people lost limbs because of it!

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  2 года назад

      Tom today we are living in a world were common sense on how to operate anything is sold to humans as if we just can't figure out anything for themselves. We can figure it out but you have one asshat trying to sharpen a mower blade while it's running changes the world forever because there wasn't a blade stop . 😅

      Being unsafe is the only way you get injured.

    • @Acaidia
      @Acaidia Год назад

      Unfortunately many people lost limbs or were otherwise injured by lawn mowers which is why mowers nowadays have these safety measures in place. Since there are so many morons on Earth they decided to add some safety features to prevent future lawsuits. All big manufacturers have been repeatedly sued for people getting injured using their products whether they were in the wrong or not. They just want to save themselves a headache.

    LOL I'm glad that I'm not the only one that hates them. it's on there for a good reason if your mowing on hills, but they are a hassle though. LOL I used a big zip tie on mine. Or a rag works good too. Looks good great job. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  8 лет назад

      Hi Cary and yes everybody seems to detest that safety design. What's the sense of a design if nobody will use it. I think mower manufactures were mandated to do this and they just thru something out. LOL

    About 4 years back I almost cut the end of my finger off when I decided to unclog the chute and not let go of the safety bail while the mower was running. I was in a hurry and trying to prevent the mower from stalling because of the wet grass clogging up the discharge. The blade is very close to the edge and I found out the hard way. Dumbest thing i have ever done in my life and very painful.

      STEVE ROB i kept the work glove that i was wearing at the time and now has a slice through the forefinger. You may see it in the background in some of my videos, hanging on the wall over the left side of my garage workbench. I keep it there as a reminder....not to be in a rush which causes accidents. I now know most lawn mower blades spin about 1/4- 3/8" of an inch to the outer edge of the deck. Lesson learned

    so, attaching to anywhere on the coil gives the same effect?

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  8 лет назад

      One side of the coil is used to ground and this removes the spark. My other mower has a connector at the end of the bail handle cable at the engine and it went to the coil so I didn't have to remove the engine shroud. They all work on the same principal. Cheers
