This is just AMAZING. I just started a podcast and I feel like you are talking directly to me and answering every single question I have. Wow. Thank you
Thanks for this series. I am just starting and feel like i have a personal coach walking me through. One additional area that I am looking to explore is setting up redundant or backup recorder. Need to see how to setup a safety net in case there is equipment issues. Thanks for the great content!
You just need to have a mixer/recorder that can record to an SD card in your workflow. Something like the Zoom H4n Pro, Zoom H6, or Rodecaster Pro will do the job nicely
Buzzsprout the positivity! Like on episode 12 it really made me value myself as a person and realize that self love is super important & it’s pretty funny too!
Hi there, JG! Whether you're going solo or recording with others, there are various options for capturing your podcast. For in-person sessions, you can try Audacity, GarageBand, Adobe Audition, Hindenburg Journalist, Alitu, or Descript. And if you need remote capabilities, Squadcast, Zoom, or Riverside.fm are fantastic choices. Hope this info helps! 😊
Thanks for the video, very helpful info! You gave me an idea I’m pretty excited about using with my next podcast and that is using Garageband instead of Audacity. I record my own music using Garageband and already have a small library of tunes I can use as intro music, transition themes, etc. so that will make production a lot easier. Not sure why I didn’t think of this already 🤪 Thanks!
Just be yourself. You'll love podcasting more when you can stay true to yourself AND the listeners that do stick around will stick around because they like you!
Hi there, Jason! Using a lapel mic is a great option for capturing clear, close-up audio. As for syncing the audio in post, that's definitely doable. Most audio editing software will allow you to easily sync your audio tracks. Happy podcasting!
Excellent! 8-part series. Well broken down and easy to follow. I am thinking about making an interview podcast. Is it a good idea to have guests from different areas such as a chef, comedian, fashion guru, etc.?
Don't Overthink It!!! 1.) Practice for ONE day with recording your voice. Teach YOURSELF how to interact with your mic. It will not take more than one day! It doesn't matter if your mic costs $100 or $3,000. What's important is that you learn how your voice interfaces with the mic. 2.) Practice being close to the mic at different levels: loud, medium, low volumes. 3.) Practice being further away from the mic: loud mic volume, medium mic volume, low mic volume. 4.) Now do the same thing but instead of changing the actual volume of the mic, practice changing the volume of your voice: closely and further away. NOTE: After you find a good volume/distance, you may discover that you have distorted peaks on "B", "P", "S", & "T" sounds. This is especially true when the word starts off with these letters (as opposed to the letters being within a syllable). I.E., The "B" & "P" sounds would be much harsher and harder when the words are "Bass Player" than the "b" & "p" sounds in "lobotomy therapy". The only thing you have to do is train yourself to soften them. Not to worry, it's very simple and you can teach yourself to do all of this within ONE day, with no recording experience. 5.) Learn to "mic your B's & P's". This is basically "mouthing" the b's & p's without a lot of force and air. Why? Mics pick up easily while you're breathing so all you have to do is put your mouth in the B or P position and the sound will come out. It will sound really weak while you're doing it but when you play the recording back, it will sound normal. If you say it normally, when you play it back, you will have distorted peaks because it's too heavy of a pronunciation picked up by the sensitive mics. You will either have to edit that part out or add a telephone effect on it. It's best just to re-record it. The #1 complaint about podcasts is sound quality. You will not have better sound quality by buying an expensive mic. What an expensive mic will do is magnify your poor sound quality. Lol! If you don't follow the basic recording fundamentals, the expensive mic will accentuate this and make the poor recording more pronounced. Expensive mics have larger diaphragms created with more gold. Gold is a conductor so the more mistakes you make, the more those mics will pick it up. Expensive mics are for professionals who are more familiar with what they're doing. They have more YEARS of experience. You are NOT going to become a professional audio engineer overnight. HOWEVER< you can become a professional podcaster overnight. Just follow these simple steps over the course of about 8 hours and get started on your podcast the following day! As time goes on, you will become an audio professional. Why? Repetition breeds skill. You can then scale up to more expensive equipment. You will have the revenue to pay for it and to pay for the courses teaching you how to use it. As for now, just get started. Don't take yourself so seriously. Nobody knows you yet.
This is an awesome video! You definitely kept me engage! The only question I have is.. after we set our mics to the right settings in garage band. Do we go back and open up squadcast and start our recording?
Glad you liked the video! Are you recording in Garageband or Squadcast? Shoot me an email in support and I can help more with this! Support@buzzsprout.com
I already have an xlr mic that id like to use. I feel kinda bad buying a new one. Is there anyway I could record using that mic maybe through a xlr to usb adapter? Also, whats the best and easiest recording software?
Hey Leanne! Yes, you can use an XLR mic using a XLR to USB adapter or a USB interface! For beginning recording software, there are several great options like Garageband, Hindenburg, or Audacity!
I`m really glad to found this Channel a few months ago! The explanations are so clear, thank you so much for all the help that you are bringing to new podcasters! Amazing video :)

Hey guys. Im planning to do a podcast where ill be interviewing people online. No video just voice recording. What recording platform would you recommend?
Hey there! We still recommend Zoom, Riverside, and Squadcast for remote recording. Just hit record, and don't turn the camera on. If in case you did, that's totally fine! These remote recording tools give you separate video and audio recording files that you can use for your show. 😊👍
our only (kinda problem) I record on logic at the sample rate 48khz but my gh5 Lumix only record audio at 50khz ... so then its a long (slightly unnecessary) process after filming - I have to take both audio files into logic and stretch the 'good' audio file to fit the filmed audio - then take that into Final Cut Pro ... then synchronise everything and it works really well ... but would love to speed up my workflow - any advice that won't cost me an arm and a leg?
That's weird that your GH5 records at 50kHz... See if you can bring your podcast microphone audio directly into Final Cut and interpolate the sample rate to match the GH5. Might save you a step
Hey Folks, could you give me an advice how to connect a USB microphone (with Type B USB output) with a TASCAM D100 digital recorder that has XLR output. I know, i know, the right solution would be to purchase an XLR mic, but I have TWO USB mics, so... as my mother used to say when the teacher told her that I may be ""mentally challenged" as a child because my grades were so bad in school: " Let's just try to work with what we have..."
I see all the good advice on mics to be 4 to 6 fingers away from the mic, yet i see so many videos that I don't see the mic in the video, what is the type of mic used for this type of setting like in this video? thank you.
Hi! Usually, podcasters use video recording software such as Zoom or Streamyard to do this. It gives separate audio apart from the recorded video which you can use for editing to marketing. You might want to check the following videos as resources: • Best Podcast Recording Software (Phone, Computer, Long-Distance) ruclips.net/video/ZrJlu-uc1bo/видео.html • How to livestream a podcast recording ruclips.net/video/NmjjEQ69wS0/видео.html

We typically recommend GarageBand or Audacity to record your podcast. Here is a tutorial on how to use GarageBand: ruclips.net/video/Zw9nkEHQ5B8/видео.html And one for Audacity: ruclips.net/video/mATGO5ayrzc/видео.html See which looks more intuitive for you. They are both free to use.
