Hi there, Jeanne. Thank you for touching base. It means a lot to me especially you are someone I admire as a creator and as someone who tries and makes things happen, as I gather from your podcast. A bunch of comments on this post confirmed that your site is a favourite of a lot of viewers out there. I hope you don't mind that I led with emphasis on the free courses. That's how I started on your site and as my curiosity and budget grew I was able to buy courses and I suspect it is that way with many others out there. Thanks again! Kelly
Hi Sam. It is almost overwhelming but in a good way. I finally got down to it and spent a few hours diving in and now have a much better idea of how to find and use the images that work best for me. What a treasure trove. 🦋🦋
The Voynich Manuscript is a mysterious manuscript bound in codex format consisting of hand drawn and painted figures and strange plants. It, supposedly, is written in a language which has never been decoded. Although, very recently I believe some scholars have broken the code. Can be downloaded in pdf form. Very intriguing plants like an herbarium and funny people doing odd things.
Sam, this made me smile. I actually bought a fancy copy of the Voynich manuscript last year. It does not disappoint and has tons of journal inspiration. Thanks for the heads up on the web site. It will definitely be on the next list, as and when.

(I made stuff anyway, improvising and making do with what I did have. Hi Karen. The Marginalian is one huge rabbit hole of inspiration. It is also an antidote to the anger and fearmongering in the media. Public Domain Review is incredible as they find more obscure stuff that would easily have lost to time and our eyeballs but somehow they find it and get it out there - all of those ideas and creations and questions and exploring. Let me know what you think. Kelly
I only just found your lovely video and recommendations (knew of some, some are new!), so I'm late to the game but will contribute anyway. Some sites that have free vintage images are Heritage Type, The Graphics Fairy, Old Book Illustrations and Project Gutenberg (which is more about copyright-free books, but I love the illustrations in old children's books). For photos, there's always Unsplash and similar sites for current royalty-free images, but so many vintage treasures can be found on Flickr under The Commons and the Smithsonian Institution, for example, and there's an oddly captivating "Sociological Record" collection compiled by Zofia Rydet in Poland after WWII. Isn't the internet a wonderful place when you want it to be? ❤❤
Hello there, Katie. Thanks for sharing notes! ReTthe Graphics Fairy, I started off as a member of their design team, back in the day. I do not know Unsplash so going off to look now. Whew. Thank you for the vote of confidence. I almost didn't make this video because I couldn't think of really slick visuals, such as editing in a laptop screen view of the site itself, but a good (and wise) friend told me to get over myself and make it work. It is good to hear that it was good enough! Kelly
I follow some of the artists that you suggested and they are all good. Thanks for listing some that I didn't know about, I absolutely love the old, old, old documents. Thanks for all the work you did for this video.
Thank you so much. Excellent information. Would you know "how" to go about making a digital printable out of these public domain images? I'd love to see a tutorial "if" it's something you can know and can share. This was wonderful, thank you for sharing!!
Hi Daisy. The answer is - maybe! Let me know more about what kind of questions you have so I can make sure I get the answer in there. The short answer is right click on an image and click copy then paste the image into Paint or other editor but perhaps you mean something else. Let me know and I'll try. Kelly
Thank you for replying. That may be the answer. I see so many beautiful printable and I am not sure if they are done by just using pictures from public domain, or would I need to hire someone to create these (printable) for me? I know there is something called a “design team,” but I am not sure if that is a team of people who create the images and pull them together to form a printable. I am not looking for anyone to explain or show me how to use illustrator or any other complicated method, but to simply be pointed in the right direction or shown how to create a (one)quality looking printable. I think they are so beautiful. Again, “if” this is not something you can do, I thank you for at least trying to help. Looking forward to more of your videos! Thank you.
There’s a reason I wait till I can give your content the time it deserves , thank you thank you! And in the US, you can download all this lovely content to your computer and then send it to Staples, to print yourself once you get there or have them print. A little pricey but great quality color laser prints.
Holy flip, thanks for this, Regina. I may be in the states this fall and had no idea you could do this. It will definitely help me keep making while on the road.
Wow! Thank you so much, Kelly, for all this priceless information you've shared with us. I know I will be spending some time checking into these resources you've mentioned.
Hi Donna. I've wanted to shine a light on some of the lesser known sites that I use a lot. Public Domain Review and Coffee with a Codex are unsung heroes of creative inspiration.
Hi Liz, thanks for this. I always love to know what people are wondering about. If you mean printing in a printer, for something like this video or text I use the cheapest recycled paper I can get and I always print on the back to make it go further. If I am printing to use in a project I use a higher quality paper. Mine is by Navigator and it is designed for colour documents and has ultra high definition. It is also heavier then regular printer paper but not as heavy as card. I love it. Let me know if that was the answer to the right question!
What a wealth of knowledge you have imparted today! Thank you so much…I will surely be exploring. I have the feeling I’ll be falling down many rabbit holes that will be bigger than the enormous ones we saw on our walk today!
Where do you live? It has been a long time since I saw real rabbit holes, big or otherwise (although I did step into one once and - yikes). I hope you are having a creative week! Kelly
We live on an orchard property in New Zealand beside a stream that has been rescued from cattle pollution and riparian planting is restoring the beauty. We have lived here since ‘77 and our kids, grandkids and now a great grandson have explored…probably doing things that would make our hair curl had we known! It is just glorious.

Hi Cheryl, it is a very real pleasure especially as some of these sources are little known and that is a shame. Coffee with a Codex is genius! I hope you are having a creative week. Kelly
Wow, what a tour de force of great stuffs!! Knew about lots of them but not all. Thank you SO much for this extremely helpful video! 👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Hi Lizzie. Thanks for touching base. Yeah, it's been on my list for yonks to talk about some of the sites that I use all the time and are full of treasure but are slightly less known. So much inspiration!
Well well thanks for all your efforts you put a lot of effort. Into this & I certainly thank you for all have to check them out thanks again Peter Scotland xx❤hope ya well
My pleasure, Peter. I hope you have a creative week! Kelly from an insanely blow-y Wales. 🙄
Thank you Kelly💚These are wonderful windows to a wealth of creativity I’ve never considered. The ancient books & public domain, fascinating.
Side note: I like your creative woman denim bibs 🌞
Hi there, Sabine. It has been on my to-do list for ages to talk about some of teh less well known sites that are chock full of inspiration. And fun trivia, here in Britain overalls are called dungarees. (I'm bi-lingual!)😺
Thank you for sharing your experience, thoughts and journey!❤
Hi Lori. Thanks for reaching out. It is truly nice to hear!
WOW! What an amazing video of resources for inspiration! Love this, and thank you so much!!!
Why thank you, Kathy. I have a follow-up in the pipeline.
Another fantastic video! Thank you Kelly! Love your hair!
Why thank you, Barry. That is a good compliment coming from a hair professional. (It's called a shaggy medium bob. But you knew that already. 😁)
Thank you so much for all these wonderful resources! I can’t wait to discover the ones I haven’t heard of. How nice of you to share! 🙏
Thank you for letting me know, Magdalena. (By the way, you have my favourite name! So lovely.)
Thank you, Kelly.🙏 I am enjoying your videos very much! I am more of a watercolour person (#tarlatanedraws), but I have also been doing commonplace books for some years now, just to keep quotes, ideas and images together. It’s great fun and quite addictive!😊 Your ideas and resources are very helpful. Thanks again for so generously sharing your tips with us.
Great resources Kelly… I think I have 37 classes in my Jeanne Oliver class library, it’s my go to when I’m curious about learning something new. She has a live class coming up this Saturday…can’t wait for that. Thank you for always being so generous!❤
Hi there, Denise. I am getting so fed up with this messy world that these days and when I do I just turn to the bank of courses I have bought (and still not started) or the free things that are about preaching inspiration as opposed to doom scrolling. Seriously, RUN like a bunny and bookmark Public Domain Review. It changed so much about how I make and think. 😺
Wow wow wow! Watching this video I was like a kid in a candy store! Thank you so much for sharing all of these resources! This is like gold for artists🎉
Hi Theresa, thanks for this. I am planning a follow-up soon as there is so much meaningful content available. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope you have a creative week. 🌷🌻🌼Kelly
I love the way you filmed this video, with the print-outs! So engaging!
Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Aileen, it is my real pleasure. Happy making!
Many thanks for sharing these wonderful resources with us!
Why it is my very real pleasure. Thank you for letting me know! 🌷🌻🌼Kelly
Lots to think about and then do. Thank you for this video!
Beverely, that is what I like to hear! 😺Kelly
Excellent resource list! Quite motivational! Thanks Kelly! 🌟
You are so welcome. I am glad it went over big. 🌷🌷🌼🌼🌻🌻
Wow!!! What great information!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Now I'm off to explore, since I've used up my daily allotment of exclamation marks.
Perhaps you did, Randi-Marie but in doing so you made me laugh out loud and almost spit out my tea. 😺😺
I have extras!! 😊😊
Debbie, I hope you brought enough for everyone!😎
A big thank you!❤

Thank you. This is such great information. I can't wait to check out all these sites!
It is my real pleasure. (And I just subscribed to your channel. Fun stuff!)
Priceless information! Thanks for sharing! I get a lot of inspiration from books and material on The Internet Archive.
Thanks for this. I will be bookmarking them today. It looks like a wealth of inspiration!
Awesome links
Why thank you. That is what I like to hear. 😺
What an informative and interesting video! Now, I'd love to know what kind of paper you prefer to print on. Keep up the great work.
Wonderful information TFS
Thank you so much!
What a wonderful resource! Thank you so much! Saved!
Thanks for saving. It is a good way to bookmark AND RUclips likes me better when you do. 😺 Happy making. Oh and I love your channel name. 🐝🐝
Thank you so much .Public Domain is my new favorite.😸

Thanks for this! I haven't read through all the comments so someone else might have mentioned this one. It's Picture Box Blue. and it's fabulous.

I live Danny Gregory, I do Draw with me every Thursday and his recent free Learn to draw series. Awesome resource.
Great share today, thank you.
Yes, I like how he is real no-excuses about making sketchbook pages. I will look into the Thursday sessions - somehow I missed that. Thanks, Theresa!

ruclips.net/video/9LJQnW1dnxY/видео.htmlsi=grG5Pj7obfSsP9-r We should ask Kelly to talk about some of the authors she is inspired by from her book collection. I would be interested in seeing a whole video on that!
Why hello there, Anna! Now, let's see. Do you mean who inspires my altered book and art journal pages? Or what I am reading in general or something else? Keep me posted. Kelly
When I interviewed you (as bad as it was on my part) you talked about having a large selection of books, that is why I reposted the interview for people to see. I thought it would be great if you could share some of your favorite authors who also create and take us on your ownpersonal library journey.
@@annadora-arts845 Right! Let me sleep on this and see what I can come up with. Thanks very much for the idea. Ideas are always welcome.
Yowza! Thanks a million for all of that invaluable info and links! Imma be BIIIZZZY! 😅
Seriously, you made my day, my month, maybe my year, just by sharing this wonderful info and the images. I feel like I found a secret sister 😊.
Hi there, Christi. What a lovely message. You know, I sometimes feel as though I am throwing out digital messages in virtual bottles and it pleases me no end when I get a message such as yours to let me know that you found one and opened it! (If that makes any sense.😺) Kelly
