"Love and honor to Miami, our college old and grand. Proudly we shall ever hail thee over all the land. Alma Mater, now we praise thee. Sing joyfully this lay. Love and honor to Miami forever and a day!"
I could sing this 57 years ago! No, I didn't go to Miami, my Dad did (in 1939). But he bought a 45 rpm record in 1955 and took it home to the Philippines.
They have the best and most iconic fight song in all of college football, unless there are any other teams I don't know about who play similar. This sounds like something from the 40s or early 50s and I love it.❤️

Everybody's talking about how this sounds like Chicago's fight song, but they're not the only 2 with this fight song.... Looking at you, South Dakota State.
The guy who wrote it, Raymond H. Burke, wrote it in 1908 for Miami University. When he got a position at his alma mater (the University of Chicago), he took this with him, adapting the lyrics.
I'm in Miami University's class of 2002. So this is our fight song. Our nickname may be RedHawks now, but if you ask me, I think that it should still be Redskins. Either way, Love and Honor, my fellow Miami graduates.
www.thestar.com/sports/football/2012/05/07/steelers_qb_ben_roethlisberger_graduates_at_30_wins_super_bowl_in_life.html Big Ben is a proud member of the Class of 2012.
Actually, Ben left after the first semester of his junior year - Fall 2003. He went to LA to train for the NFL draft. He later went back and received his degree from Miami (in 2011 or 2012, I think).
GEORGE ROBERT DAVIS They are the same. From Wikipedia: "Raymond Burke was an instructor in geography, assistant professor of geology and director of music at Miami University from 1906 until 1915 and continuing some post-graduate work at the University of Chicago in the summer sessions. He wrote both the lyrics and music for Miami's fight song, the "Miami University Marching Song." The tune was adapted in 1919 for Wave the Flag, the University of Chicago's fight song. He also composed the music for "Old Miami, Alma Mater Song" and "Miami Scalp Song," which was the background music for the Miami Indian dance at athletic contests until the mascot was changed to the Redhawks. Burke organized the Miami University Men's Glee Club in 1907. It held its first performance in February 1908, ending the concert with the premiere of Burke's songs that are now known as the university's fight song and alma mater."
Henry C. Conrad High School Band has had Love and Honor as it's fight song since 1961. And not to brag too much played it just as well if not better than Miami. Conrad was the number one high school band in Delawarwe for 11 straight years (1961-1972) under the direction of David Casto

And 57 years ago "Redskins" wasn't offensive to anyone!

Ben Roethlisberger played for Miami.... but he didn't graduate... he left his senior year... I wouldn't claim him if I were Mother Miami
Ben is very generous to the Oxford community and the University financially.

He went there for three whole years. He can claim this as his alma mater says a mu alum 2002-2006
Yes Big Ben finally went back to Miami and got his degree.
Actually, Ben left after the first semester of his junior year - Fall 2003. He went to LA to train for the NFL draft. He later went back and received his degree from Miami (in 2011 or 2012, I think).
Very similar, if not the same as, University of Chicago's fight song.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I thought it was the other way around.
