    Did this today. Was really straightforward especially with expert guidance from this vid. The only thing i did do was crack the hoses for the crankcase ventilation. They needed replacing anyway so was probably a good thing. Thanks again.

    I would use a little bit of 3M Black Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive for Autos, applying some in the channel in the valve cover where the gasket fits into. That way, it won't flop out when turning the cover over and you reinstall it over the engine. There's an increased chance of the gasket twisting or kinking without you knowing it, potentially making the oil leak worse off than prior to replacement. The RTV where the video instructs is definitely a good idea though.

      Won’t the weatherstrip 3M be unsafe for high temps?

    • @chuckalucktoo5492
      @chuckalucktoo5492 Год назад

      @@bryancertantes7198 : It won't matter because all the 3m does is hold the gasket in so it won't fall out. Once the cover is replace the 3m weatherstrip has done it's job.

      I would personally just use a few small dabs of assembly fluid on the corners and sides. Should do the trick without compromising the seal.

  • @62impalaconvert

    Might want to hold the harnesses at both ends back out of the way with cords or bungies to facilitate a straight down angle of the cover over the two studs (or have someone hold them out of the way).

      on the high side 180.00 USD while your having this done if the spark plugs are due for a change do it now this will save on labor as the plastic cover and coils have to removed anyway to change the gasket. Talk to your mechanic about it.
