My research: The transmission fluid needs 1 quart of ATF drained & refilled every 30k. Buy good brand water pump. Buy a Denso 221-0506 radiator rated for towing off Amazon . Inspect water pump monthly & have the better designed pump in your trunk ready. Your 2.4 L is going to have head gasket- like leak around 100K. The strong towing radiator will withstand said head gasket gases going into cooling system. Also, unscrew the reservoir cap so gases can escape thru there. Been driving this way for 40K when the owner was told she needed a new engine at dealership at 135K. It's now at 179K as daily driver. Still strong AC with original stock parts.

I just bought a very nice dark blue 2004 4cyl/auto Camry yesterday for only $2,000 from my local Ford dealer.
I’ve been eyeballing this car for sometime as I frequently walk through their used car lot on my way to work, finally got the notion to ask them, and the salesman said it had coolant all over the top of the engine, like it had a blown head gasket, but when I checked it out, I discovered that it was only a power steering return hose leak that goes to the reservoir, also had a small valve cover leak, but that’s it.
It started immediately and ran perfect, nice and quiet aside from the exhaust tail pipe that separated from the muffler flange.
It warmed up to operating temperature quickly, and never overheated, cooling system stayed under pressure and no smell of coolant, before I fired it up, the coolant was full in the radiator and looked very clean, red/pink coolant, engine oil looked reasonably clean, but not fresh so I know they’re not trying to hide anything, transmission fluid also looked reasonable, but not fresh.
Aside from the minor oil leaks, I hear a small clunk at every corner of the car when I go over bumps so it might need struts or bushings, but I haven’t had a chance to check yet.
I was searching on Facebook marketplace for several days and the cheapest one I could find was 3200 but the best deal I found was only four blocks away from me at a dealership oddly enough. Lol
I’m going to fix this car up with what little repairs it needs, drive it through the winter to save wear and tear on my other vehicles and sell it in the spring to a young girl who needs a cheap car, even though I’m falling in love with it and want to keep it for myself. Lol

Bought an ‘06 XLE with the V6 about 5 years back, had 130 k on it. Now at 170 k, doesn’t burn a drop of oil. Paint outstanding. I Lexol the leather seats every couple of years and they are still flawless and supple. The V6 still snarls when you punch it, as a startled late-model 300zx driver learned a couple of weeks ago. I think it’s rated at 192 hp. Not quite like the 64 goat I had as a kid, but it def gets better gas mileage. I’m gonna keep it till the wheels fall off.

I have an LE with a manual trans. Cloth seats, power windows, mirrors, steering and a/c over a quarter of a million miles. I have gone through and done things like the rockers, struts, clutch. 02’ silver and I adore it. Got it because I needed to replace my tundra that had turned over 300,000 but got wrecked. I've got the Toyota Camry XLE V6 and it's amazing. Almost 224,000 miles and only minor easy fixes besides oil changes and tires. Thought it was kinda weird when he said the v6's get 20. I've had my Camry V6 for almost 3 years and the lowest I've seen the average is 26 mpg. 30 mpg was the highest I've seen it as well so I would count the v6 as a gas guzzler. They can be pretty efficient as well.

I got a 05 2.4 LE that came on trade at my work with true mileage unknown on the carfax. With the math and odo which has been swapped it has around 255k. It does burn some oil, I put 4 tires on it. I’ve put about 10k on it since I bought it and it has developed a timing chain tensioner noise. I’m getting the chains and full motor and trans mounts done on it and I cannot wait. I’ve cleaned it up quite a bit and love it. I agree with everything this video says I rave about the car all the time. It just does everything so well.

When I see a shiny minty Camry or corolla I see an 80s Mercedes. Just as the luxury and prestige in an old 300d was manifested in the sheer quality of construction and engineering, I believe toyota is no different. It's funny you mention posters. I had a poster of an R33 Skyline on my wall. I eventually bought that car and it was definitely a dream come true. I recently sold it, and now I have a 1990 Toyota Camry as my fun weekend car. Suprisingly, I love the Camry more than the Skyline. It's not thrilling to drive, but man is it just legendary in terms of how it was built. 34 years old, more than 200k miles on the clock and it just refuses to let anything go wrong with it. I can let it sit for weeks and weeks on end and that 2 liter 4 banger just fires up right away. It even has the original clutch and tranny and it shifts like it rolled out of the factory yesterday. Everything is still fresh and it feels like an absolute tank in termsof how robust and reliable it is. It's cliche to say but they don't make them like they used to anymore, Toyota in the late 80's was just on another level.

Great review! I own a 2004 Camry LE. Recently, I noticed the Temperature gauge is staying on cold even when driving on the highway. I've read that it could be the thermostat (as well as other things). Do you think the thermostat would be a good start in trying to resolve this? The Coolant is full in the radiator and there's no leak. There's also no leak on the water pump and although the temperature sensor could be the issue, I believe it might be a stuck open thermostat. I live in New England the weather is quite cold, so I don't need the thermostat to be stuck open, if that's what the problem is. I just want to know if this is a good starting point to resolve this issue. The mileage is 110,000 miles.

JUST CAUGHT THIS VIDEO! YES - TOTALLY AGREE - the VERY BEST CAR MONEY COULD BUY! I bought NEW - an Australian built 2003 Camry ALTISE - 2.4 with the 2AZFE engine - ZERO ISSUES with 221,000 kilometres on it! The FIRST SET of front disc brake pads I replaced lasted 216,000 kilometres! The rear ones are still in the car and only half worn! NO OIL BURNING FROM MY ENGINE! Rarely have to top it up between 10,000KM oil changes! This OIL BURNING ISSUE only appeared in the 2007 to 2011 2AZFE 2.4 litre 4 cylinder. Save for minor bits and pieces replaced like bulbs, rear speakers, brake pedal cushion, front bonnet strut, 'dog bone' engine mount stabiliser, bugger all else. It still has the same radiator, radiator hoses, alternator, power steering rack, struts - everything! Truly amazing! Try getting that out of a BMW, BENZ or AUDI!

It absolutely is a sports car! And a daily driver. And an offroad racer. Put a body kit, exhaust work, fresh paint, spoiler from a Celica and I love this car! Not to toot my own horn here, but I have a couple vids showing it on my small channel from a couple years ago. This was my first car and I will drive it until it blows up. It has gotten me through cross-country moving from Cali to Georgia most recently, a few Rallycross races, and a whole lot of "that's a Camry?" from people. The inline-4 has a sexier exhaust note than the V6, also--sounds like a WRX almost with a nice exhaust.

06" LE V6 336,000 KM, I have done some repairs but the one thing that has been perfect is zero oil issues. Switched over to a semi-synthetic and when I get the oil changed I am told that what comes out looks as good as what is going in. One of the best cars ever made and the V6 3.0 is a fantastic engine. I usually get 550 km city driving and over 750km highway on a tank of gas. The only complaint I have is that I have to replace the gas cap every couple of years. The seals tend to fail and then the check engine light comes on.

When I bought in 21 it had 189k miles wanted to see if I could hit 300k, but ended up getting into an accident when some butthole turned in front of me with out signaling, smashed the whole front end up. I've got a 2015 V6 and it's a hoot. Also gets very good mileage (I get 27mpg in mixed driving) and doesn't have the issues some of the 4 cylinders have. 4 cylinder acceleration is frustrating, but with the 6 it's good fun.
