Madonna put out Express Yourself Like a Prayer and Vogue all within like 18 months time span - was such an iconic era. It’s hard to put in to words how powerful and famous she was. It’s never happened since. She’s the ultimate
Vogue was one of many classic hits from the queen of pop Madonna. Vogue reached no.1 in 30 countries. True fact Madonna is the highest selling female recording artist of all time with 342 million records sold worldwide
400
“Pushing boundaries “ just defined Madonna. This is such an iconic song for her, It’s amazing to me when I hear that people never heard this song all the way through . Awesome reaction 👏👏
And she still does it… now pushing boundaries of what society considers “ok” or “not ok” to do for a woman at 63 !
Shock value is not pushing boundaries. Did all y'all drop out of high school in grade 8 or something?
Yep. No matter how you feel about her or her music, she deserves praise for doing her own thing and setting new standards and changing the face of pop music.
Directed by a young David Fincher. Iconic video for a #1 song.
She was one of the first artists who, from day one, had very diverse dancers and vocal backups on her team
Biggest Female singer Seller of all time ..
Pushed, We are the world from Number One..
Up there with M.J.
She was fn .. Awesome in Everyway ...
Madonna paved the way for today's female pop stars. No one can or should deny that. Without Madonna there wouldn't be a Britney, Christina, Rihanna, Katy, Gaga, and so many more. Yes, Whitney was the opposiite end of the spectrum but strong vocalists always existed in the industry whereas Madonna pushed it culturally, and turned the pop scene into a true expression. What I love about this reaction video is that "Vogue" is over 20 years old and it still sounds fresh today. It's an ageless, iconic song, as are many of Madonna's best songs. The same cannot be said about many songs from 20+ years ago, or even today.
This song has always meant, to me, that everyone belongs lon the dancefloor, everything you're going through can be sweated out in the club!
There is a documentary called Paris is Burning that touches on Voguing. I think this is where she got her inspiration.
One of my favourite videos and very cleverly done in b/w and very retro 1930s. Did you notice how many golden age film stars she mimicked?
One of her best songs ever! Strike a pose ...
Even as a " metalhead " in the '80s ( and now )....always had Maddona next to my Metallica albums ( alphabetically )!!!!
Take A Bow, Express Yourself, Material Girl, La Isla Bonita.....etc. She is a force to be reckoned with. Smart woman too...member of Mensa.
Madonna didn't push boundaries - she blew the top off the whole world!
Madonna was the first artist bringing the lgbt to mainstream with this video and taking them on tour Madonna was way ahead of her time
Madonna! a phenomenon that happens once a century!
Yep, y'all couldn't take your eyes off her. Just like back in the day. Madonna is a BADASS.
What I love about Madonna is that she was ahead of her time. She incorporated different cultures and different people within her music WITHOUT taking advantage of it all. She was a huge sex symbol and controversial artist that even the pope back then wrote about Madonna and wanted the Catholics to stop listening to her music (I wonder what he thinks of our generation now, lmaoooo). I also feel bad for her because many people nowadays (aka, my generation [I'm 19]) don't really know how much of a DIVA she was and usually just hear her name but don't know what it means. Pweeze react to "Take A Bow" by Madonna and "Like a Prayer" by Madonna
Thanks for the reaction 👍👍👍👍👏👏
You know what’s funny is all these young people saying they’ve never heard these songs before, but I hear them all the time at the grocery store ; )
my favorite music video EVER
You should watch Madonna´s speech for Michael Jackson. It is really worth it. She is a great speaker and I really appreciated her words.
I always love the deep music crsp ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Ceiling breaker. Much respect to Madonna!
Great video and song! More Madonna please!
Kanye and Madonna have produced songs together on multiple albums so they have been friends for awhile
Actually, Madonna and Kanye have collaborated numerous times since 2008. Great reaction guys. She has always been a fighter for marginalized communities. She pushed boundaries to make people sit up and listen. She knocked down the walls of the white, religious, patriarchal system that has always tried to have two sets of standards. One for themselves and one for everyone else. She mostly wanted them to pull the sticks out of their butts, and get over themselves. ✌🙂
did they really NOT talk about how killer the main piano riff is?!? i mean the rest of it - lyrics, arrangement, message, whatever - is nice and could be talked about but only after at least half the video has been dedicated to praising that riff. it's an instant classic! 😀
Bravo for your channel. I want to suggest French iconic singer Mylène Farmer. Megastar for more than 30 years and best show woman ever.
Intro + Peut-Être Toi is a good place to start.
It's in French but the show and all is reaally worth it.
Congrats again from French Canada.
Perfect song for the perfect artist and the video perfectly matched both
This song can and always will make you feel like a baddass.
AS IT HAS BEEN SAID : the history of pop music can be defined as before Madonna and after Madonna...
MTV days, good dance song yeah 🤘😆👍🎤🎥📸🎶👏
👑 *THE QUEEN* 👑
Love y’all’s reaction!!!!
I find it almost impossible to believe that you both never heard this song and that this was yr first time hearing it threw or in full. Thus was one of the biggest songs of the decade of any artist in existence! It embraces all cultures all sexualities all levels of love and dance and life. And it's filmed in black and white. She's not acting like a diva, where in the world is she behaving like a diva? She does not in anyway aspire to be cooked or labeled as a diva, that's simply just a tacky term for women to give themselves an excuse to behave ridly be demanding and try and project a persona of something that they clearly do not know the meaning of. She doesn't need to act like one she's naturally respected and her empowerment is far beyond the term diva she is the queen of pop n not one female out there can ever top Madonna at being the queen of pop she opened the door to all these whatevers today to be aa freely outspoken and to empower themselves as they are able to today. Women today try very hard to top her with shocking people with their sexuality and female empowerment but most go about it just wrongly and go beyond that to the point that they can put themselves back many years at simply being tastless
Hi Guys
I'm a 53 year old guy and I remember when Madonna first appeared and she was definitely not shy...the Catholic Church had a heart attack...lol..
I love 💕 u guys so much respect!!
Madonna is awesome, check out Like a Virgin the blond ambition tour love you will love it. It’s Madonna to the max xxx
This was huge every night club played this
Wow! Asia, you pretty eyes just like Janet Jackson 😍
queen~~~!!!😍💗💓
Lovely!
There were already songs and artists born of the gay club culture, but with "Vogue", Madonna brought it to the mainstream like a giant nuclear bomb.
Ох, где мои 90-е?! 🤗
I immediately subscribe your channel, I hope you can to more Madonna music videos
Please do more of the Queen.
Also see was one of the few people that put ethnic culture and the queer community in her music/videos she was a pioneer people just forgot.
It;’s definitely a song about empowerment. “You’re a superstar. Yes that’s what you are, you know it.”….inspiration taken from the majority gay, black, brown, and trans ballroom culture. Self empowerment, love and expression has really been consistently at the cornerstone of Madonna’s music throughout her career…..often overlooked by the controversy.
This video is classic, but you may want to watch her MTV performance, too. That is iconic.
Yessssss💯
💯
I get so tired of hearing the "pushing boundaries" thing about Madonna. Madonna is so much more than a boundary pusher. She was an unbelievable force that merged theater, fashion, beauty and music. Before Madonna nothing had come close. What she did for female empowerment and gay rights will never be duplicated. She is the GOAT.
DONT BE SILLY. NO ONE IS PUTTING M, IN A BOX. OF COURSE SHE WAS AND IS A FASION ICON ALSO. HOWEVER SHE DEFINED THE MEANI G OF SEX TOO.
@@gustavopanesso7297 are you an 80 year old woman? Turn your caps lock off and learn how to spell.
go to sleep boomer
@@alexisgonzalez3117 Alexis 2010 called, they want their meme back.
@@CalvinTennessee nobody truly cares what you feel like about Madonna.
It is incredible watching the younger generations appreciate Madonna, recognizing her contributions and giving her props and respect... something that was not there very often if you grew up with and grew up listening to Madonna as a fan. You either loved her or hated her, growing up with her. That sounds harsh, but very true. You guys are giving life to old Madonna fans!!
Yes, she was pushing boundaries, showing that as a woman, she has no problem with her sexuality, all kind of sexuality! Till then a sexy woman in the pop world it was used as a sex-object, but Madonna showed that she decides, she own her sexuality, she is a sex-subject, not a sex-object! Therefore Erotica was a huge scandal back then!
Yes, Vogue is more about self-empowering thinking also in the LGBT community because "vogueing" was a a dance practiced by black and latinos trans and gay people, imitating poses of fashion magazines like Vogue.
Or in Like a Prayer, denouncing racism, and police racism already back then, surrounded with burning crosses! Also with a black jesus, an interracial kiss (in the 80 still taboo in the mainstream) etc it was also a huge scandal, even the Pope of Rome ex-communicate her!
Yup. This.
LGBT is today's identity for that movement. Back then it wasn't a 'political' title. Dance troupes had been rife with gay, bisexual and gender fluid individuals for decades. She just pushed that movement into the 'pop' world. There have been gay dance clubs for at least the last 50 years now filled with the same 'splendor.' And in Europe they go back even further.
Those two videos are total works of art!
This song was a monster at the clubs back in the day. Absolutely blasting. Madonna ruled the world for a minute.
more like a couple of decades..lol
Nah, at least two minutes
@@rogersimpson8871 No, Jonathan is correct, definitely a couple of decades.
A MINUTE? SHE WAS literally biggest singer on the planet thru 80's into 90's
@@christopherone1 And here we are 40 years later. Right?
She is also the queen of reinvention. Each album she always reinvented not just her look but her sound. Songs you need to react too are like a prayer, express yourself, justify my love, erotica, frozen, music and hung up. There are just too many really but in America she has had 12 no.1 hits and 38 top 10 singles more then any female recording artist
The great thing about Madonna is that she never makes the obvious choices and there usually a duality to her a work. Everything has a deeper meaning or some kind of statement. More Madonna please!
hahahahaha do you really just say all that? You're American aren't you?
This video and song helped to bring gay male culture into the mainstream.
It arrived at a time period in the wake of the 1980s AIDS crisis and ensuing HIV pandemic, when homophobia remained prevalent and LGBT rights and equality (no same-sex marriage, no human rights protection, no rainbow crosswalks) weren't where there are today.
Madonna was one of many celebrities who helped to embrace, value, and celebrate LGBTQ+ culture.
Funny cus she’s got a song called “Express Yourself” lol y’all check it out if you get a chance! ❤️
Great reaction. Madonna has now been going for 40 years - an astonishing career. The ‘Justify My Love’ official video is a great follow up to this video and fits into what you said about pushing boundaries and breaking down barriers.
Madonna was celebrating Black Gay and Trans “ Ballroom” culture from the 80’s. “ Voguing” was the dance style created there. Check out the show POSE to learn more about this rich world of dance !
or Paris is burning. a documentary that POSE also heavily drew upon❤
Keep up with Madonna
Her catalog is so vast and iconic
Please react to human nature by Madonna
This brilliant video was directed by David Fincher whose films include "Seven," "Fight Club," "Benjamin Button," and many more. One of the best directors of our time. Great video and a great song!
32 years and this song totally passes the test of time!
Justify My Love - Lenny Kravitz wrote and sang back up 🔥🔥🔥
Culturally it was the most important video of that era. She took the voguers from the gay clubs in Harlem and took them on tour with her and exposed gay culture to the world in the height of the aids crisis in 1990. I love your channel! You guys rock! Much love!
One of the original Diva trailblazers!!🎶💙🎵
This song was HEAVILY inspired by the gay dance clubs she went to in the 80s/90s and saw the gay boys 'vogueing'...Some of the guys from this scene are vogueing in this video...she didn't come up with it herself, she just made it mainstream in a great way!
React to Madonna classics "Boarderline" "Take a Bow" "Frozen" she has a lot of Gem!!
Such a funky masterpiece song! And a very big hit back in 1990 all over the world!!!
Two of Madonna's best songs (IMHO) are from movie soundtracks. "Live To Tell" from the movie At Close Range and "This Used To Be My Playground" from A League of Their Own.
I love live to tell
There is a whole sub-culture in New York that uses the dance "Vogue" to have dance battles. Love it! She is a huge ICON and pushes for women!
Maybe you two could react to Madonna as she brings the club to the dance floor as she inhabits life to her song, MUSIC. She made this number during the early part of her pregnancy, but that wasn't going to stop her from bringing down the house !! INTO THE GROOVE, BORDERLINE and LUCKY STAR, are classics that should get some time on the turntable when you find a minute.
hello madonna make 2 record whit kanyee west
This song was so big when it came to the LGBTQ community. Beyond iconic!!
She literally changed my life. When I was growing up, her Girlie Show concert was on TV and I recorded it to a VHS tape. I would watch it over and over because it made me feel like it's ok to be myself. It was the first time I saw any gay representation on TV.
❤
Human Nature !!!!
Vouge, Vogue, Vouge.. lettin’ my body move to the 🎶 music! Yaaas Fire Reaction ♥️ y’all
Love Madonna, absolute legend
Gotta react to madonna like a prayer music video, great message
Glamorous, sexy, iconic! One of the best videos of all time, imv!
Love her or hate her it makes no difference an absolute musical genius.....
Love your channel and reaction. A walk down my early teens. The holy trinity PRINCE, MADONNA AND MICHAEL JACKSON they were damn near untouchable and bought glamor and talent 2 the music industry. The price they paid 😔🥺#peaceandstaywild
more madonna pleaseeeeeee
David Fincher directed this video.. Check out his list of movies.. He is one of the best directors of our generation. Btw... Madonna will be 64 in august
And she's still going... loved her last album. Mostly because it's nothing like the crap that is on the radio these days.
Handsome gay men in dance clubs would all rush to the dance floor as soon as this song was played!
It was So Much Fun dancing to all of her songs!
Went to a club in Paris, France and Madonna was playing over and over again! Too Much Fun!
Happy to have been at the gay
clubs to Dance and have Fun and lots of Great times when
Madonna first sang her hit songs.
Those were Fabulous times,
in any gay club across the Country. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟♥️♥️♥️🎉
I loved how she would incorporate all races and genders in her video...
It showed she had no prejudice...just a future thinker
Other good ones by Madonna are "Express yourself", "Borderline", "Lucky star", "Like a virgin", "Live to tell", "Material girl" and "Papa don't preach" You should react to some of those when you get a chance ❤
Masterpiece by the Queen of Pop! More Madonna please!
This is still a banging song. Amazing then and just as amazing now. She really was the Queen.
Don't care for her.... but her music is undeniable...! Check out "Borderline", "Music", "Like A Prayer" and "Crazy For You".
Breathless Mahoney, one of her film performances that was actually well received. Later would come A League Of Their Own, and of course her dream role as Evita Peron, which won her a Golden Globe.
People took her breaking boundaries as a ploy for attention. If you pay attention to her interviews from back then she was always very intelligent in her responses. She wanted to break boundaries there were for women but not men. Men were allowed to sexualize women in their videos and nobody cared but when she was sexual it was scandelous. She hated that and did it harder to put it in people's faces and get them use to it. There was always meaning behind her controversies. This song, "voguing" is a dance style that originated in underground gay clubs. Gay rights was another topic she covered before it was trendy for celebrities to do so. Honestly she was the first name I can remember that made me feel ok about myself as a gay kid and I'll always appreciate her for that reason.
Madonna's run as the queen of dance pop was truly special.
Did u inow that Madonna inspired the legends like Janet and MJ when it comes to touring? Before 1990, tours and concertd are all about singing and dancing...but after 1990 Madonna's Thr Blonde Ambition Tour, most of the concerts now have theatrical themes and fashion....all inspired from this
Yes 👍 MADONNA …. I was 16 when this song came out, me & my cousins dancing & pretending we were Madonna…. she was so classy in this video STrike A Pose …I am now 48 how time has flown ….
Thank you for the fantastic reaction & this video is perfection 💎 & Madonna changed a lot of boundaries for a lot of minority groups (especially women) 💗 💫
HATED this song black in the day. 8th grade Chorus we had to sing practice the song for a whole year for a and of the year performance...Good song Madonna the undisputed Queen. Highest selling Solo artist male or female EVER.
The version at the Mtv music awards was awesome! Y'all should check it out.
George Michael said it best:" "She's very strong. Her sexuality is hers, it's not for men, and I had a feeling it would be sex of an intensity that would feel like I was with a man. I don't know why. Maybe I should have tried it!"
I became a subscriber because you to are a joy to watch and i loves your smiles and i enjoy the show and thanks for sharing .............Keep up the good work
