Why would you throw away a perfectly clean paint tray, just use it again. But if it has paint in it you shouldn't just toss it in the bin so how is that good for the environment - throwing a paint tray that will decompose with latex paint stuck to it that won't decompose?

It doesn't matter what tray you have , reusing any tray without cleaning it out, paint will eventually mix and run especially if your using different colours.
