I'm not gatekeeping being a killjoy. I'm just happy that people are still discovering and enjoying MCR. That being said, there is another track on their "Greatest hits" album called "Fake Your Death" and there is also a cover of David bowie/Freddie Mercury's song "Under Pressure" that MCR and The Used sang together on MTV2's "2 Dollar Bill" show. Just some tracks you may also enjoy. The Used's singer Bert McCraken was also featured in MCR's song "You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison" he was making the ad lib noises in the background as well as the laugh at the end. The Used is still putting out music to this day and if you like MCR, you may also want to give them a listen.

This is gonna be a fun one Boy division goes *so hard.* It almost feels like a heavier, more cynical version of na na na to me, it has some of the same themes and imagery but it’s so much more pissed off. Also if you liked the breakdown in this one, you’re gonna love foundations of decay. It has a real good one in there. Also sidenote you have amazing hair, just had to get that in there lol I love the bridge in tomorrow’s money, that buildup to the solo is so good. We all like to joke that ray toro will shred your face off but it was funny to see it happen in real time lmao. If anything this song reminds me that each of the EPs have a general vibe/sound to them. Number 1 is pure dirty rock energy I LOVE ambulance. I feel like people generally tend to overlook it cause it’s not as energetic as some of the other songs, but the whole thing just makes me ascend, especially the bridge. There’s just something really nostalgic sounding about it I also really love gun, it has such a fun beat and it’s really fun to sing along to. I think it’s also one of the most political songs mcr ever did, it has a pretty blatant anti-war sentiment to it The world is ugly is such a beautiful song. They played it live when I saw them and I just had to close my eyes and float along for a little bit. There’s a demo version of this song from a live performance in I think 2008? It’s really different to how the actual song turned out so it’s interesting to see how it was originally Number 3 is a real tearjerker, you might want a box of tissues for the second half lol. I've been enjoying catching up on your reactions for a few days now but have held my comments as everyone seems to be echoing my thoughts on your music analysis (though I do wish you'd mull over the lyrics a tad bit more ... cant have everything!) but I wanted to say, regarding whether or not you are or arent a "proper" Killjoy, that the question is twofold. 1) Do you enjoy the music? Is an obvious one that you have already answered on this channel. However, the second is more about what *you* value as a person, and goes to why you had maybe not gotten into My Chem until now. Gerard Way spent the 2000s speaking, almost every chance he got, about 1)Creativity, 2)He Understands What Joan of Arc Was Going Through, 3) Squid, and the last one was super unpopular with mainstream society: 4) How he is Against Sexism, Racism, Homophobia and Transphobia. Consequently, a huge proportion of MCR fans from that era were female, queer, BIPOC or some combination thereof. Anecdotally, I know 3 people IRL that transitioned between Danger Days and now and a bunch more online friends. Double that for just coming out. This might be hard to wrap your head around, depending on your age and um, Current Events but the 2000s Rock music scene kinda sucked if you wanted to go to a live show and werent visibly white/male/straight. Mainstream and to an extent, alternative music press didn't quite know what to *do* with MCR aside from pinning the Emo label on them and in the UK, blaming suicides on them. They were expecting jerks who trashed their hotel rooms, not nerds whod rather play table top games. To provoke the bigots in the audience and thin them out so their female and otherwise marginalized fans could feel safer going to shows, he and his guitarists would do stage gay and pretend to make out. They were bottled at Leeding and Reads festival because of this. Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco was also bottled during this timeframe, for very similar reasons. Gerard spoke openly about cross dressing in college. There are some lines from Black Parade that many Trans fans resonate with. There's a song on Hesitant Alien about a psychic transwoman. Gerard did an AMA in about 2015 where he spoke at length about how he admires his queer/trans fans and his own journey with gender presentation, and what pronouns were respectful to use for him. Gerard spent this last tour cycle in a variety of stage clothing ranging from Literal Clown, Just Some Guy and also Hello Nurse and Cheerleader, to name a few. The second hand gender euphoria was palpable. Frank Iero, the other more vocally political person of the group, is good friends with Laura Jane Grace, noted transwoman/frontwoman of Against Me! Gerard Way witnessed 9/11 first hand and has spent the last +20 years trying to make the world a better place, supported by the same 3 other dudes who share his vision. Essentially, the 2nd question is: Do you have love in your heart and deed for all people or do you not? In Foundations of Decay, Gerard will tell you: You must fix your heart or go. Have a great day!

I have a lot to say about this albummmmm- err- well, not necessarily an album but you know what I mean! No fr, Boy Division goes OFF live like it’s nooooot even funny. Fkin crazy for basically a demo with great production! The Conventional Weapons songs were all scrapped songs recorded between Black Parade and Danger Days, so it was kind of like the boys’ final present to us before the breakup. So some of these would probably be rearranged and written slightly differently if recorded today, but the quality of some of the songs is damn good for just a bunch of throwaways! And so Boy Division, World is Ugly and Light Behind Your Eyes are all fan favourites. Sobbed like a child when they pulled World is Ugly out for Sydney tho, they really must’ve played their whole catalogue this reunion tour 😂

These are all songs that didn't make it on the primarily the Dangers Days album. I'm pretty sure a few are scraps from Three cheers (I could be wrong so please correct me, but some sound very three cheers to me lol). Surrender the night is probably one of my favorite songs they have made, the lyrics and flow and just everything about it is so good. Boy division is top 3 songs for sure. So glad you a real enjoying these songs.
You're wrong, nothing is scrapped from revenge parade or bullets in this album, it's a whole album that they recorded in 2009 but they had decided not to release.
You might be thinking of 'The World Is Ugly'. The non-studio version/demo version of that song was recorded in 2008 during Black Parade not Three Cheers, although it does fit well into Three Cheers, it's way more raw and aggressive than this CW/studio version. Also these songs, it's not that they didn't make it to Danger Days, they are not really B-sides. Instead they were scrapped in favour of Danger Days. The 4th album was supposed to be a straight forward punk record after being burnt out by the touring of the concept The Black Parade, but they found out during the writing that they weren't pushing themselves by making an album that wasn't a concept. They also wanted/needed to do an album had some "colour" or joy in it. It's really telling that they needed to do something else and were in some shape or form being pressured by the music industry. It's in the lyrics for 'Boy Division' and it's why the song sounds so aggressive.

Well, I also bet you didn't know that the sings were originally supposed to be for Danger Days but they didn't like how it sounded (idk why you wouldn't like this??) so they scrapped it and did that instead! I'm really glad they decided to release the songs though because they are really good! Anyway, this album is definitely very underrated, but I'm so glad you reacted to it! Honestly, I wasn't sure you were going to like it for some reason (I have no idea why I thought that), but I was so wrong! I'm really glad you enjoyed this because I enjoy it so much! The energy of this video just made my laugh out loud like three times :') "I just had three cookies and I'm ready to go"? "The killjoy bedframe"? " He's the rizz god"? Loved every second of it. No fr, Boy Division goes OFF live like it’s nooooot even funny. Fkin crazy for basically a demo with great production! The Conventional Weapons songs were all scrapped songs recorded between Black Parade and Danger Days, so it was kind of like the boys’ final present to us before the breakup. So some of these would probably be rearranged and written slightly differently if recorded today, but the quality of some of the songs is damn good for just a bunch of throwaways! And so Boy Division, World is Ugly and Light Behind Your Eyes are all fan favourites. Sobbed like a child when they pulled World is Ugly out for Sydney tho, they really must’ve played their whole catalogue this reunion tour 😂

You should consider listening to their solo music too (even if it's not as a reaction video), especially Frank Iero's (rhythm guitarist)--it's soooo so so good and kinda serves at least to me as extra MCR songs

These are all songs that didn't make it on the primarily the Dangers Days album. I'm pretty sure a few are scraps from Three cheers (I could be wrong so please correct me, but some sound very three cheers to me lol). Surrender the night is probably one of my favorite songs they have made, the lyrics and flow and just everything about it is so good. Boy division is top 3 songs for sure. So glad you a real enjoying these songs.
You're wrong, nothing is scrapped from revenge parade or bullets in this album, it's a whole album that they recorded in 2009 but they had decided not to release.
These aren't songs that didn't make it to danger days, this was thought before danger days.
You might be thinking of 'The World Is Ugly'. The non-studio version/demo version of that song was recorded in 2008 during Black Parade not Three Cheers, although it does fit well into Three Cheers, it's way more raw and aggressive than this CW/studio version.
Also these songs, it's not that they didn't make it to Danger Days, they are not really B-sides. Instead they were scrapped in favour of Danger Days. The 4th album was supposed to be a straight forward punk record after being burnt out by the touring of the concept The Black Parade, but they found out during the writing that they weren't pushing themselves by making an album that wasn't a concept. They also wanted/needed to do an album had some "colour" or joy in it.
It's really telling that they needed to do something else and were in some shape or form being pressured by the music industry. It's in the lyrics for 'Boy Division' and it's why the song sounds so aggressive.

The world is ugly was played at the end of the parade era, just like deathwish was being played at the end of bullets era and disenchanted was being played at the end of revenge era, that's it.

I’m not lying. I gave the date of 2008 the year the live demo version was recorded in (it can be found on RUclips). Considering that Black Parade was released in 2006 I thought it was obvious that it’s not a song on the album.
