Yes, please!! I'll copy this almost exactly. You're the first video I've seen with a waterfall. I'm insulating ours, but still trying to figure out how to heat the air before it gets pumped through. When do you turn the air pump on and off for the season?

You should absolutely put out a more detailed version of this video. I've watched hundreds of pond videos. Always wishing I could justify the expense of building my own. The fact that you did this for under 10k is phenomenal! Please share not only which flyers and other products you used. But a break down of the cost of each, and the plumbing design involved.
This is exactly what I have in my mind and I'm so excited to see that you did this with a lower budget and beautiful results!
This is amazing! For many years we have been interested in these natural swimming ponds, and since we got our bit of land last year, (and I'm NEVER moving again, I'm an old-steader, lol) I have been longing to build one of these, but its so hard to find good information for the diy-er, and to have one built for us is way over our heads, cost-wise. You may just have provided a way for a dream to come true for us. Please, please if you would be so kind to do a video detailing your steps and materials involved, I would so very much appreciate it! You've done a fantastic job, it looks great. It looks natural and the health benefits of not swimming in a pool of chemicals is a plus. I would really like to build one of these but on a smaller scale.
The kids love swimming in the pond and it’s great to not have the constant maintenance of a pool. We have even had a couple ducks land in it the other day.

Any pond or pool you build - build it as big as you can. So much easier to maintain and it should maintain itself. And you’ll always wish you’d built it bigger once it’s done!

uv filter should in the end of the line of filters so good bacterias could come and stay inside of the main filter

Loved your pond!! Thanks for sharing. Can you please give me an idea on the monthly power consumption (kWh) required to run the filtration?
The pomp is has a 310 watt motor and the UV filter has a 100 watt bulb so in a month I use about 300 kWh so here it comes out to about $42 a month to run. That will depend on local energy prices.

Do animals ever come to drink from the pond? If so, what animals have you seen?
I have had a couple of deer, we have had ducks land and spend time swimming especially in the spring and fall when they are migrating, and we see small things like rabbits and pheasants fairly often.

What part of Colorado are you guys in? Curious how cold it will get/freezing time you will have to deal with. Looks great!
We are near Fort Collins in northern Colorado. Yes it freezes in winter. We keep the pump going all winter and have been successful in not having it freeze up. Last winter we hit -20 for 3 days. The 90% of the pond surface froze but all I cared about was that the pump and line did not. You do need to add water during freezing because it can “run dry” from water loss to ice.

So you build an pond just under 8k so the pond is less then a 8k pond right, where did you get the 40k from bro??
Where does a person get that liner and underlay for 6 or 7 k cause there at least a thousand in gravel an blocks

These guys are the best price I can find and I spent a lot of time search for deals
The EPDM liner is absolutely the most expensive part of my pond but definitely worth the investment. There are a lot of suppliers that try to jack the price up a lot so you definitely have to shop around. Halfoffponds.com has been my go to for most of my stuff

Was the liner the only thing you paid for? Having all the materials lying around doesn’t count haha.
No I paid for everything the liner was the biggest expense followed by the skimmer and bio falls. There is about $900!in rock and boulders but if you look the boulders I got are pretty flat so they look big but are not that heavy and boulders are sold by weight. The rest is just block that is cheap and some plumbing fittings.
No plants? will algae. Need an update!
We have added plants to control the string algae
I am blown away that it cost only $8k.

Sorry, I don't like it. I hate seeing rectangular cinder block inside a natural environment. I'm much rather see it done with real stone/mortar in a free flowing shape.
No need to apologize I would prefer that and I’m certain most people would. But I would not have gotten it built inside the $8k budget and my main goal was to get it built to function well and be in the budget.

Them snakes?
We have only see 2 garder snakes near the pond last summer but other then that it hasn’t been a problem but we do keep an eye out for them
@@fp3359 snakes aren’t a big problem in Colorado, especially water snakes bc we get freezes. Only one we worry about is rattlers and they prefer hot and dry areas or grasslands
